We are two adult couples who want to spend an evening looking at the resorts, but also taking a peek at Wishes. I thought maybe doing appetizers and drinks at all of the monorail resorts might be a fun way to do this. Can anyone suggest a plan of attack? I thought maybe adding a boat sidetrip to the WL to see the ELP might be fun.

TIA!

You can start at the Contemporary but I have heard the bar up at the top is now reserved for those who have dinner ressies to hold down the crowds who would come, nurse a drink for 2 hours just to see the fireworks. Personally I would skip the giant toaster and head right to the tropics!

Next stop is the Poly at the Tambu Lounge. My fav is the Pina Colava but the Lapu Lapu in a giant pineapple is also good and will knock you on your butt. The crab cakes and the ginger/honey wings are tasty.

Victoria & Alberts stop next at Mizners Lounge for a Pimms Cup for a Kir Royale. I also like a Gin & Tonic with xtra lime. I don't think they serve food here but 3 olives in your martini is like a little snack.

Now get off at the Magic Kingdom, take the Wilderness Lodge boat and you are right on the beach for the ELP. The Territory Lounge makes a great cosmo as well as a wicked G&T. They have a wide array of bickies including pulled pork, flatbreads, nachos and a cheese plate.

Not exactly true. You can go to the bar/lounge at the California Grill if you check in at the 2nd floor desk and ask. They may not let you go up if it's full, so the closer to the fireworks you get the lower the odds you'll get to go up.

Start off there early for drinks in the lounge if you just want to take in the view, but you would probably have to go early and hang around the lounge if your intent is to see the fireworks from there. You can order food in the lounge too. If you can't get up there, the Wave has a nice bar and sells appetizers (no windows and no view though)

The Contemporary also has the Outer Rim Lounge which is located on the 4th floor across from the Contempo Cafe and from there you can see the Electrical Water Pageant when it's in Bay Lake at the Contemporary.

If it were me, I'd probably want to start at the Grand Floridian, continue on to the Contemporary, and end up at the Polynesian.

You can start at Mizner's at the Grand Floridian. I'm told they serve some of the Citricos appetizers there. At the Contemporary, I would visit the Wave lounge. Unlike the Wave's dining room, the lounge is very interesting visually. They also have a fairly healthy menu and possibly the most unique bar offerings of any resort. They tend to boast organic beer, wines and spirits, so their drinks menu is slightly different than the standard Disney lounge offerings. At the Polynesian, you can try the famous Lapu Lapu at the Tambu lounge, or visit the Kona Island Sushi Bar for a drink and a sushi roll. Then you can walk outside and watch the fireworks from the beach.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. And I think the Polynesian is the first stop on the Electrical Water Pageant route.

Yes...but I don't recommend it as a place to stop in for drinks or food (as far as I remember Outer Rim does not serve food). Too close to Chef Mickey's and too noisy/hectic.

This is the best plan as well IMO! Have fun! I love riding the monorail and stopping along the way for drinks/appetizers! You can't beat watching Wishes from Poly!

We do this quite often, although we usually just do GF and Contemporary. At GF, we often walk out to Narcoossee's and enjoy drinks and apps at their bar. Say hi to Charlie the bartender/sommelier, and enjoy the steamed mussels. As for Contemporary, I find Outer Rim pretty boring since its reno a couple years ago. If you are there early enough (well before fireworks) then I'd ride up to California Grill and have apps/drinks at their bar. We usually cap the night there and take our time, so as to see the fireworks from the catwalk overlooking MK...

Wow, what great ideas! It seems like we will have a lot of choices and may have to decide the best spot to watch the fireworks!

Thanks to all!:thumbsup2

Another thing, except for Tambu Lounge which I've been there at noon, don't open until 4:30. You can enjoy the pools bars at the other resorts if your earlier.

I would definitely recommend watching the ELP from the Poly but I would warn you not to go on a night that Wishes is at 9:00PM as it really plays havoc with the ELP schedule. They are supposed to run it after Wishes but a few nights on our last trip they ran it during Wishes which was pretty useless.
