Monorail Drink-A-Thon

LOL! I don't THINK so! I have a feeling you can really rack up a bill at TL! LOL!

So do you mean that your room's ENTRANCE door faces the lobby? So then what does your balcony face? Just curious... I have never had one of those rooms...I am wondering if they are standard view (and what exactly IS a standard view there?) or woods view or what!

Hey, hey, hey now...just cause I spend a lot of time at the bar doesn't mean I'm drinking...LOL... I'm petite and I don't want to be falling off any barstools!!! :earseek:

I usually nurse a glass (maybe two - depending on time) of wine before dinner and then a Bailey's or two (maybe some Port or Ice Wine) after dinner...by that second Bailey's though I am usually pretty happy...LOL...depends on the mood...

As far as the rooms go...Yes...the entrance door faces the lobby...on one side (and I'm sorry I don't remember room numbers), the balcony overlooks the different gables on the roof and in the distance I could sort of see the guardhouse and the "driveway"...on the other side, I had what I would call a woods view with the MK in the background, I didn't have a clear view of the castle but I could see Space Mountain...if I looked down, it was a maintenance kind of loading-dockish area...honestly though...the view is never my priority (although quite nice when I get a good one)....

yuuummmmm ice wine. most people dont think a white zin drinker can appreciate the delicateness of ice wine, but what do they know right? I'm the lush...I can appreciate it!

Just to clarify...I don't do this every night...I couldn't handle that!!! This is my TL routine...

And Pixie...Since you are a fan of Ice Wine...perhaps you should graduate from white Zin ( lol - did I mention I was a wine snob?) and move on to a nice Pinot Grigio?

No DDE card yet. I'm waiting for the next trip. I wish I had it last month ... we would have saved a boatload! My DH says ... only one trip to V&A pays for it. Gotta love that man. Except ... all my pictures are on his laptop somewhere in downstart illinois. I'm hoping to move them tomorrow so I can write up my DATW trip report.

DisneyaHolic23: We also did the Segway Tour. Ours was on 12/30 and it was a blast! I want one now ;). Did you notice that your feet and legs hurt after the tour? That was the only thing I didn't expect since you are essentially standing in one place the whole time. I put my pin on my vest and had a number of CMs come up and talk to me. We did take it easy on the drinks the night before since we figured we needed our balance! :moped:

You have echoed a couple of things I felt throughout the tour: I DEFINITELY want a Segway. I can't think of any practical purposes, but I want one!!

We both noticed our legs got tired. Prior to the tour, we had thought it would be a great gift for Ron's dad, as he has circulation problems. Now that I've done the tour, I know he couldn't stand like that.

We also planned ahead, and did very little drinking the night before the tour. I just wanted to feel top-notch.

What time was your tour on the 30th? We did the 9:30 tour on the 2nd, and noticed that the 8:30 group finished up about 5 minuttes early. Our tour went 10 minutes over. I was wondering if that was true in general, or just on our day.

WILDERNESSLODGELOVER: I LOVE your idea of starting to plan my next trip. I certainly never stop reading the boards for ideas, so I can start compiling my next trip... :wizard:

robinb, What is a DDE card?

WLLover, planning my next trip is always a must when I get back from WDW... I already have my birthday trip planned, but I did that in November, so now that I'm back I'm thinking of my next trip... I'm not sure when yet, but I gotta make up my mind soon... btw, I cancelled my membership at LA Fitness and have been going to Curves since early Dec... I love it!

pd23, for most of my youth, I hated, and I mean hated, wine; I decided to learn to like it, so I first started with wine coolers, then white zin, and then graduated to real wine. Now I'm proud to say that I like and appreciate a fine wine. It took years, but I did it! I still don't like white wine though... maybe cuz my dad only drinks chardonnay and that's way too dry for me... I had a pinot grigio once and liked it so maybe I just need to try other varieties. My preference is a cabernet or merlot. My DH loves ice wine and port but they're too sweet for me.

Cristy,

The DDE card = Disney Dining Experience. It costs $50 and gives you 20% off most restaurants and bars in WDW. It used to be available only to FL residents, but now AP holders can get it too: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=708258. Best of all, it's 20% of your whole bill. Including alcohol! That means a Lapu-Lapu only costs $8 ;). One evening at V&A and the card is paid for.

Cristy-RUn, do not walk, to the nearest phone and order your DDE card! I almost hate to tell you about it, cuz when I finally found out about it I was LIVID that no one told me about it before! It is good for parties up to 10 people, plus gets you free valet if you are dining at a resort. Plus half off entrance to Pleasure Island. There are a few other perks that are escaping me right now. BTW...Curves is great! L.A. has been busy lately with all the resolution folks...bummer for me!

Thanks for the info on those rooms, Aisle. For some reason, the view is very important to us. Yet another reason we like to go during Value season.

Yes Disneyholic...it makes these boards more fun to come to when you know you have a trip looming on the horizon!

Welcome, ladyarcher... I'm reading a book that has a Lady Archer in it... hmmm.... it is a lot of fun! this thread is my favorite... the people here are just wonderful!

LadyArcher- Welcome! Any information you need on alcohol in the world you can just ask the lovely people on this board, together we know it all!

Cristy- I'm not a big red wine fan. I dont like to drink anything unless its cold, so that is a HUGE problem for me! I've found that I do enjoy reisling and ice wine, b/c I do not like dry wines, but love sweet ones. The whole sweetness thing is why I love white zin. Honestly when I go to bars I see a lot of younger people drinking it. Maybe one day I"ll grow out of it, but hopefully not before I'm 23!

pd23, to each her own... you like what you like and that's allright... hey, that rhymes! look at me, everybody loves a martini... that is, everyone but me... I just can't get into them... and beer is my drink of choice, but most people think that's so not classy... hence my learning to drink wine... I still love beer though...

One little caveat--If you ask a cast member if they know about the Drinking Around the World game--as my friend and I did back in 1999--they will look at you as if you are nuts! Which, by the time we got to China (or was it Japan?) we were so plastered we thought we were nuts too!! The millenium parade began and we just sat down and let it pass...

Any ideas for an Epcot RESORT drink-a-thon? Lots of folks have done the World Showcase, but how about Yacht & Beach Clubs, Boardwalk, Swan, and Dolphin? Does each resort have nice lounges for a leisurely beverage?

Doug

Oh, what a great idea--yeah, you could totally drink around the boardwalk...There is a seperate lounge in each the Boardwalk, Swan, Dolphin, Yacht, and Beach resorts, plus there are several restaurants/bars on the boardwalk...hhmmmm, very interesting...

where do they have fiesta margaritas? Mexico? Or somewhere on the monorail tract? Since this seems to be the page of lushes, what is everyone's favorite drink at WDW at where can you get it?

My favorite drink at WDW is the fiesta margaritas in Mexico or the Heffeweisen (sp?) at Big River (light beer with lemon)..

Welcome Codie! You sound like our type for SURE!!!!

Cristy.*gasp* You don't like martinis????? <<<WLL eyeing ctrabada suspiciously>>>

LOL!

Not a WDW drink topic, but last month I went to DL. We thought there were plenty of places to drink in CA but we couldn't find any. So we passed the winery there and noticed they had tastings.

So my brother and I did a port wine tasting. It was very interesting and was paired with three different kinds of blue cheese. It was a very nice break from the Christmas crowds. Definitely should be a must do for any lushes who go to DL.

Thanks, IloveDMB! My DH and I have been discussing visiting DL... now that we're DVC members, I think it'll be easier for us to book a trip. We will add the winery to our itinerary...

WLL, *sigh* I'm sorry... but no martinis for me...

That's ok, Cristy! We can still be friends...LOL! Do you like bloody marys? Cuz if you do, I really think you would like a dirty martini...it is nice and salty! YUM!

DMB-mmm, wine and blue cheese...what a great combination! Thanks for the tip!

Cristy- I usually only drink cosmos and fake martinis, but a friend of mine introduced me to dirty martinis and while I would never order one for myself I def enjoy them a great deal more than regualr martinis. There is a restaurant near me that makes key lime pie martinis...they are soooo good! I think they might put cream in them, and then line the rim with graham cracker crumbs...O YUM!

mmmmmmm, yummy! I'm not a big straight martini drinker either...but I love the "fancy" ones.
