Monorail Drink-A-Thon

Wow! Guess it is that time of year, huh? Glad you are feeling somewhat better...thank you for the well wishes!

WLL, the coquito will keep, thank goodness! Wow, the clinic only charged me $35. Last night was a rough one... this thing has moved up to my sinus and I think it's time for the Zpack.... I was a little better yesterday, but now I'm feeling like I have a cold on top of it. Ugh.

Aidensmom, thanks for the well wishes and I hope you feel better soon too.

Hit that Zpack, baby!

Wow, only $35???? Did you use your insurance? I have to pay out of pocket. hmmmm...

I was THRILLED to pay $70...$35 is much better!

Yep, insurance pays the rest... my copay is $35 for the clinic. I don't even know my primary doctor; I only go to the clinic. In and out. At the doctor's office I would have to wait hours... no way jose. Those days are over. Time is money and I refuse to sit in a doctor's office for 2-3 hours while feeling miserable.

Oh, ok...it is $150 if you pay out of pocket. That is why I liked this other place, it was only $70. My insurance is crappy and will not cover urgent care. :(

WLL - Thanks for the advice on the lapu Lapu; I may have to give it a try. DW has an aversion to rum, so we may have to find a different beverage for her, maybe the backscratcher you mentioned if it's not rum based.

Sorry to hear you're under the weather. I hope you get well soon! We had a similar sinus/throat/brochitis type illness run through the family starting about a week and a half ago with DS getting it last and symptoms ending Friday; each of us had a mild fever the first couple days. Between the crazyness at the office, illness last week and b-day parties all weekend, DW and I will be spending a good portion of this week trying to get things back under control.

Cristy - We did have another bottle hiding in the fridge. All we had was a bottle of sweet, white with bubbles, but it worked. I was at the store but could not buy anything else (no alcohol purchase on Sunday in Fulton County, GA :(). I hope you recover quickly as well!

Back to work so I can fund the upcoming disney trips...

RobinB, I LOVE the new picture of your little girl! How much she's grown... she's a little lady. I was looking at my itinerary and we have ressies at Chef Mickeys on the 29th at 7:10 pm. We could meet at the lounge before that... my only plans that afternoon were the DVC merry member mixer at 3:00 pm and maybe a round of mini golf.

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner :(. I don't know why I didn't notice this thread on my subscriptions until now. I thought we had another lull, but I see not!

We are planning on doing the DVC Merry Mixer too. We went to it last year and it was fun. Perhaps we could meet there?

I also wanted to add that I am sorry everyone is under the weather. Celia had strep throat two weeks ago and she is just starting to recover. She wouldn't take her amoxecillen, so get got a penicillin shot instead. That'll teach her! Her thigh hurt for a whole day *and* she was grumpy because she was sick. But ... I'm glad that if she was going to come down with something it was in early December and not closer to when we leave for WDW.

David, glad you got your wine fix. I haven't been able to touch anything alcoholic for days... And I know what you mean about the sale of alcohol in Fulton County on Sundays... I've visited Atlanta several times and have learned to stock up before Sunday! ;)

I think your DW will not like the Lapu Lapu or Backscratcher as they're both rum-based. But they have a South Pacific Cosmopolitan and a Maui Rita that sound delish and with no rum!

Robinb, we could defintely meet at the DVC merry member mixer!

Hi
Hope everyone who is under the weather is feeling better soon. Holidays are right around the corner and so are the festive eggnogs. :goodvibes
Antibiotics and drinking really don't go well together.
Lushes must always be in the best of health when holidays are so close. :sunny:

:rotfl: I read this thread a few days ago, and NOW I have a sore throat! :guilty: Thank goodness I have antibiotics left over from my ear infection a month or so ago. ;) Take care all! :wave2:

tsk! tsk! tsk! You shouldn't have any antibiotics left at all! Take care of yourself and see a doctor! It might just be viral and in that case the antibiotics won't do any good. Or, it might be bacterial and in that case the few pills you have left over won't knock it out properly. I wonder if it's the same infection ...

Yes, definitely hit the Zpack!! Thanks to Zpack I was able to do the Monorail Journey in September and meet some great people! While I still wasn't 100%, 90% was good enough. Never did use the refill she gave me (yes I was that sick that I was prescribed a refill). Lots of sleep in days, lots of wonderful sunshine, and more alkeehol cooked the rest of it out of me. :p

Guess what . . . you know how some folks mentioned meeting up again in October??? Well, since I really liked that idea and enjoyed the mid fall break, I canceled my 7-night DCL cruise to take a long weekend at WDW in October and one in December. That means starting in June, I'll be going to WDW every other month for nearly a year! Woo Hoo! :cheer2:

Hope everyone gets to feeling better soon!!

Cheers!

I don't go to the doctors office either. Have a walk-in clinic at the hospital for minor things. Was in and out in 45 minutes with only $18 to pay after insurance. Can't remember what the precription cost though. Think it was $10.

Cheers!

Thought I'd share this with my fellow LOTW members!!

Tequila Christmas Cake

Ingredients:

1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 large eggs
Nuts
1 large bottle tequila
2 cups of dried fruit

Sample the tequila to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the tequila again. To be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Repeat.

Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure the tequila is still OK. Try another cup...just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy.

Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.

Pick the frigging fruit up off floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the tequila to check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Check the tequila. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the tequila and wipe counter with the cat.

CHERRY MISTMAS!!

:rotfl2:
I had to print it out and give it to my DH... he was intrigued by the recipe at first and then caught on...

Maine_Jen, thanks for the laugh!

Well, I finished by Zpack 2 days ago, but I'm still congested and coughing and lethargic... my DH told me to go back to the doctor...<sigh> I really need to get better soon so I can enjoy Disney next week!

I found the recipe quite enlightening. :rolleyes1

We did not have any tequila on hand, but I substituted a box of chocolate truffles DW had "accidentally" purchased at a silent auction - "I just put my name down to get the bidding going." :rotfl2: There were several chocolate filled cordials in the basket along with the truffles.

I can say with the voice of experience that there was a very pleasant glow after my attempt at cooking, not quite the kick of tequila but a very certain sense of chocolate satisfaction...DW assisted in this particular attempt.

We may try again tonight with the rest of the truffles. It's Sunday again. I need to find some candidates for county office who will ditch the "no sale on Sunday" restrictions...

BTW, the chocolate basket was not the only item she "got the bidding going" on.... :rolleyes2

I HOPE ALL THOSE UNDER THE WEATHER ARE WELL ON THEIR WAY TO COMPLETE RECOVERY! :wizard:

The recipe cracked me so and I just HAD to share it with ya'll. I did have a backup recipe "Booze Balls" from the Food Network to share as an apology for the prank one, but as I read through it and saw it included prunes, I just couldn't pass that one along. Here is a real, honest to goodness Margarita Cake Recipe!

Enjoy!
