For those of you that don't live in the area, what has your news coverage been like? I was talking to family from different states and they all heard something different, like my sister in Washington said on the news they were saying it was Austin's fault while my grandmother in Tennessee hadn't even heard of the accident.

I've heard that it wasn't Austins fault at all and that he was actually trying to get away from the other monorail when he noticed it coming toward him.

From what I've heard, the accident was caused by a combination of a bunch of different people not doing what they were supposed to be doing and not paying attention.

It's just aweful that this whole thing could have been prevented. That poor family.

I don't why but this just popped into my mind. I remember seeing Austin working at the MK station in the last few days I was down there. I think he was talking to a family that was gonna ride in the front cab with him when I saw him.

i live in st.pete, and we hear about it every night. the story hasnt changed though, and they seem to be blaming the person that was supposed to switch over the tracks for the accident.
i feel bad for austin and his family. i also feel terrible for monorail pink's driver. he must be so shaken and upset.

They said it appears to be human error so I agree. Whoever was supposed to switch the track/make sure it was switched correctly screwed up somewhere I guess and cleared the pink monorail to go. It's such a shame.

I really think it was human error because there are NEVER accidents like this & now it just proves is all it takes is not clicking the right buttons or whatever they have to do :/

Wow, wouldn't you hate to be the person who gave pink the go ahead and wasn't paying attention? That person will have to live with the guilt of basically killing someone for the rest of their life.

Mhmm...it must be hard. They'd probably need like counseling or something, in addition to the pink driver!

Here, we haven't had any updates. It was just announced there was an accident. They probably won't report any new details until the reports come out.

EDIT: Interesting thread I found on the CB. Says that the final report could take up to a year to come out.
