Monorail broken down on Epcot line.

3 hours - YIKES! I'm glad everyone is OK but what a nightmare especially if you have small kids (or have to go to the bathroom!)

Oh my! Three hours is a long time - I would have been in full panic mode. I mean, seriously, what if you have to go?! :scared:

1) It is an inconvenience, for sure.
2) But, the monorails are old, and even maintenance can stop parts wearing out.
3) But, considering their age, their maintenance crew creates a good uptime record.

Probably the 'stand-by' monorail queue. The FastPass Plus monorails are working fine.

Glad that whole "rest the monorail more" approach to maintenance has worked out so well.

Can you imagine how great that line would be if they had invested the $2B from MM+ into replacing the monorail?

Being stuck in a traffic jam would definitely be better and easier! In a monorail you are trapped! If it came to having to evacuate by ladder I don't know if I could do it! And then having my eight-year-old climb down?!:scared1:

I sure hope everyone is all right and you move soon!!

3 hours stuck on the monorail? Oh no, if I was on there, everyone would know it. I would feel very panicky. I am sure it was crowded (as usual) and people are standing and there are small kids on there. I hope there was air conditioning. I know things "happen" but this is unacceptable in my opinion. To the woman who wrote that she has been stuck for 3 hrs, you are a total good sport.

I get twitchy after a 15 minute stop between resorts when I am on the monorail. I would NOT be okay with 3 hours! :( :scared1:

Three hours stuck on the monorail would drive me CRAZY!! I would much rather be stuck in a traffic jam where I could get out and walk around if need be. I hope Disney does something for those poor people stuck. I feel so bad for the families with small children on board.

Just wanted to update. We are back in our resort. We were on the monorail for a little over 3 hours. Luckily, the air conditioning worked until the last 15 minutes and we were in a section that had enough room for everyone to sit. We didn't bother going to O'hana..the kids were tired and just wanted to head back to our resort. They gave us all a bottle of water when we got off and free fast passes for everyone in our party. Thankfully this wasn't our last night!!!

Glad you're finally "home".

I don't think a bottle of water and a FastPass would do it for me.

I have to agree. I am not all "Disney needs to compensate for everything" but in this case...I would say they need to do something more than a bottle of water & fastpasses. I don't necessarily mean money but perhaps making sure you can get into Ohana (or any other reservation you missed) another day on your trip or a free meal at sit down restaurant since you were trapped in a tin can for over 3 hours while you missed dinner.

I on the other hand have terrible anxiety and get anxious when it stops for a minute or 2 while other trains leave the next station. I would have lost it. Like full on call 911 and get me a fire ladder, lol. SO glad everyone is safe!

yes, this!

I wouldn't be mad (probably annoyed and REALLY REALLY glad to get off the monorail) - these things can happen. However I would hope for a bit more than a bottle of water and a FastPass if I lost 3 hours of my time and was stuck in a small 'car' (I'm mildly claustrophobic ). I'm not talking cash but a neverending FP for the rest of my trip would have made me really happy or ....let's say a night in the castle (do you all think that might be pushing it?)

Count me in with this as well.

Glad you made it back to the resort ok.

A bottle of water and one fastpass? Seriously, Disney? :sad2: I agree with Mesaboy. That sure wouldn't do it for me, either.

I think a comped meal for everyone on the monorail would have been sufficient as well. I am sure everyone missed reservations or some dinner plan and were hungry when they got off.

That's the least Disney could do.

Good grief - a bottle of water and a fp? I would have expected more. That's really disappointing. I'm glad you're safe and sound in your room though!!
