Monorail Between Epcot and MK

We're going to be staying at the BC for the first time and I've heard some not-so-great stuff about the bus service. I also kind of like the idea of using the monorail to get between Epcot and MK. Is it pretty quick and easy? About how long does it take one way? I realize we would have to walk to the entrance at Epcot, but we walk a gazillion miles anyway, I don't mind that part to avoid the bus. Thanks!

Don't forget to always keep an eye on EPCOT operating hours so that you can get back through it on the way home.

Not sure of the official time but it can't be much more than 10 minutes each way!

It's a very long walk between BC & the monorail. Plus, you'll need park admission to Epcot. If Epcot doesn't open until 9am, you won't be able to walk to the monorail until then, making your later for the MK at opening.

10 minutes from Epcot to the TTC sounds about right (assuming no stops or backups). Then you have to get off and walk down and up the other monorail platform to get the MK monorail. Add another 10 minutes at a minimum for getting to MK. And those times assume no waits - just walking up to the monorail and getting on.

It's probably a 15-20 minute walk from BC to the front of Epcot to the monorail platform (for regular non-running folks). Then add in the park hours issue (you can't enter Epcot until opening time, which in most cases will be the same time that MK is opening) and needing park hoppers to do that can be an issue as well for some.

Taking the bus from the BC is so much simpler. Bus took us 20 minutes from BC to MK.

It is going to take you about 15 or 20 mins to get from BC to the monorail platform at the entrance to Epcot. And, you won't be able to do that until the park opens. Then, once you are on the monorail, it is about 10 or so mins to TTC, then off that monorail and onto the express line, and you could face a wait for that express monorail to come along.
You're talking about 30-45 mins, if all goes as planned. I would just take the bus to MK.
I routinely stay at BW, which has comparable bus service to BC. In fact, I've stayed at BC several times as well. The buses are NOT all that bad.

Thanks to everyone for the input! The point about watching the park hours was something I didn't really think about. Maybe we'll try it once just to see (if the hours work out) but other than that, it sounds like the bus is the way to go. Thanks again!

If Epcot has EMHs that day, then you can get in at the Intl Gateway, walk to the front and be at MK in time for rope drop at 9. But, that's about the only way it can be done....at least in time for park opening.

We had no problems using the buses when we stayed at BC last July. But what we really loved was hopping back through EPCOT on our way back to our room. From MK, the monorail to the front of the park, then ride Spaceship Earth or pull a FP if we are returning to EPCOT later that day. We also hopped to HS from the AKL after eating at Boma and took the boat back to BC. The only really miserable bus experience for us was DTD, so what we do now is take the boat to POR or OKW and take the bus to the front of EPCOT. Even better if we pulled a FP for Soarin or Test Track earlier in the day!

Just wanted to point out that in order to do this, your tickets need to be hoppers since you'd have to go through the Epcot turnstiles to get to the monorail to the MK.

We haven't had problems with the bus from the Epcot resorts to MK so we usually take them to the MK.

We do what your suggesting on the way back though !! If we leave MK during the day however we often take the monorial to Ecpot and stroll through the world showcase for some fun and food on the way back to the resort.

Fully agree YC/BC bus is not that bad and the trip through to the monorail is fun, but not short.

I have similar monorail question: if Epcot has EMH, how long does monorail run? (Would want to get back to BLT, so would need resort monorail too.)

TIA!
