WEARE GOING TO DISNEY IN SEPTEMBER. WE WILL BE STAYING AT ALL STAR MOVIES. THE FIRST DAY WE ARE THERE WE WILL NOT ARRIVE UNTIL 2:00 P.M. WE HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO RIDE THE MONORAIL AROUND DISNEY WORLD. WERE DO WE GO PICK IT UP AT. WE THOUGHT RIDE THE MONORAIL AND THEN GO FOR DINNER AT DOWNTOWN DISNEY. I AM JUST NOT SURE WERE TO PICK UP THE MONORAIL AT. THANKS!:smooth:

You would probably have to take a bus from your resort to either MK or Epcot. Catch the monorail and ride away. Then get off at at one of the monorail hotels or the Ticket and Transporation Center and catch a bus to DD.

I know this will work, but can anyone think of a better way?

The monorail doesn't go all the way around WDW, so you would have to follow Soccer Mom's recomendation. In order to ride everywhere and see everything, you should catch a bus to Epcot and catch the monorail there. It will take you to the TTC. At the TTC, get off and transfer to the resort monorail loop. (Don't get on the MK loop--it doesn't stop at the hotels.) I think the order of the stops are GF, MK, Cont, and then the Poly. Get off again at the TTC and catch a bus to DD. After you're done there, you can catch the bus back to your hotel.

We always spend a day or two riding the monorail, buses, boats to the different hotels, downtown disney, boardwalk, ... Have fun there is a lot to see and do.

Here's a slightly different suggestion - take the bus to Magic Kingdom, and ride that loop first, getting off at one or more of the hotels if you wish.

*Then* at the TTC, transfer to the Epcot loop. If you ride the TTC - to - Epcot leg, you'll get the extra bonus of being able to ride right through Epcot and getting a free preview. You won't get this if you take the Epcot - to - TTC leg.

And even cooler - ask an attendant at TTC if you can ride in the front car, as the view of Epcot from there is breathtaking. (You won't get the narration up there, but that's OK.)

If you really want to get transportation crazy, you can take a bus to MGM, and there is a boat which will take you to Epcot. From there you can hop the Epcot Monorail, to the Ticket and Transportation Center, then hop on the WDW Monorail. And you should totally do what cigar suggested and ask to ride in the front!

Although what supamaki suggests can be done, it will require park admission for that day, since you will enter at the International Gateway if you take the boat from MGM to Epcot, then a walk through Epcot to the main entrance and leave the park to board the monorail from Epcot to the TTC. Since your dinner plans are for DD, I assume you might not be actually visiting any parks on your day of arrival (and I know that before we purchased annual passes we used to avoid using a park admission for a small portion of a day on our day of arrival since it did not seem to be cost effective).

I highly suggest trying to get in the "cockpit" of the monorail. You can do it if you ask nicely the CMs who are on the platform, and you're the first family to ask. I did it twice last March and it was too cool. Definitely try to do this for Epcot!

No, you are supposed to have a park hopper or be staying at one of the resorts but I have been there at least 15 years out of the last 17 and never did anyone ask. The doors open and you seat yourself. The doors close and a recorded message comes on in English and Spanish,I think. We have heard it so many times it is a joke at our house. We even found a napster audio file with the recording so when we need our monorail fix we play the recording. :)

By the way the cockpit is great especially riding into Epcot. Only four are allowed to ride in the front. We have waiting for another monorail just so we could ride in the front. There is just so much to see and do at Disney World without going into the parks. You will have a great time.

CORRECTED!

Caskar, if that monorail announcement to "please stand clear of the doors" is the way French sounds to you, I suggest you get the ol' hearing checked ASAP. LOL!! (just a friendly tease!)

In truth, the announcement is made in English and Spanish - I always say this is the only way my kids will learn a second language!
