Early in the morning, how does the Monorail start? Is there one at each Monorail resort at the time it is scheduled to start running, waiting to be filled with guests? Or, do they leave the main station at that time and just start their run first st TTC then Poly, GF etc? How often do they run early in the morning? I’m asking because I have never needed to be in the park very early but have a 7:45 MK reservation and am trying to figure out the best time and way to get to MK.

Where will you be starting your day from on the morning that you need to be at the MK before your 7:45 reservation as there may be other options available for transportation?

There are 2 Monorail beams for the Magic Kingdom area. The Resort beam and the Magic Kingdom Express beam. The resort beam normally starts at 7 AM during most seasons. The resort Monorail runs clockwise on the loop, stopping at each resort and the TTC. Normally there is 1 Monorail on the resort beam. An addition Monorail may also be added to the resort beam during busy periods.

The Express Monorail runs clockwise from the TTC to the Magic Kingdom and then past the Grand Floridian, Polynesian and back to the TTC (no stops between the TTC and the Magic Kingdom). There may be 2 Monorails running on the Express line during busy times.

If you are at the Grand Floridian, Polynesian or Wilderness Lodge you have the option to use a Resort launch that runs between these resorts and the Magic Kingdom dock.

Starting at the Poly. The boat rides seem to be such a slow way to get across. I just assumed monorail would be quickest if we got on right around 7. Would boats be getting started around that same time?

Regarding boats, I can’t remember if an extra stop at GF would be in order before arriving at MK. That would tack on extra time as well if that is the order. Definitely not interested in resort launch if that’s the case.

Doesn’t the resort monorail stop at MK as well? I think I remember getting on at GF and the MK bring the very next stop. Quick ride.

The resort launch for the Grand Floridian & Polynesian is shared. From the Polynesian the boat is direct to MK. On the return loop from the MK, the boats stop at the GF and then the Poly and right back to MK. The resort launches are often running at 6:45 AM during most of the year.

Note: The resort launches will suspend operation if lightning is in the area.

Yes the resort Monorails stop at the MK right after the GF as well as the Contemporary on the way back to the TTC.

Thanks dave! Good to know that the boat launch would be straight to MK. I guess I’ll just have to see which one I spot first.

Regarding the monorail make sure to check the times at the Poly once you check in. We haven’t stayed there in a while but we made the mistake of assuming they started at 7 am every day because they did earlier in the week. Unfortunately they didn’t start until 8 (or later) the one day we had a 7:55 reservation. We walked right by the bus stops on our way to the monorail and then had to back track and wait for the bus. The bus then had to stop at GF and go around the back of MK to get to the MK bus parking lot. We made it in time but it was a little hectic getting there.
