have you made this. we used to alot when we were kids. does anybody have a recipe they've used before?

The easiest way is to use a couple of tubes of refridgerator biscuts. Cut them in quarters. Chop Marshino cherries, nuts and raisins (all if desired). Spray a bundt pan with non stick spray. Add nut cherry and raisin mixture to bottom of the pan. Melt butter. Dip quartered biscuts into butter then roll in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Layer in the bundt pan. May add more fruit and nuts about half way through. When all biscuts are in the pan, mix a bit of the remaining melted butter, some sugar and cinnamon and cherries juice.(equal to about 1/4 cup if mixture) pour over the biscuts. Bake in the oven at 375 until just browned on top. Turn upsided down onto plate. Enjoy!
Sorry I don't have exact measurments--we have made this since I was a kid.

I'm going to have to do this! I haven't had monkey bread in probably 15 years. My boys would love it! :thumbsup2

OP, I used to make similar to the PP. We didn't use nuts or cherries though. Just cinnamon, sugar and butter.

An alternative to a bundt or angel food pan is to take a clean empty soup can and place it in the middle of a cake or pie pan. I also use the fridge bickies and dip them in butter, sugar and cinnamon and layer plenty of nuts in between. I top mine with a vanilla glaze too. Dh takes them to work and the guys love them!

Shug, I want to work with your husband! Or if I move close to you will you just bake for me? :teeth:

What's a fridge bickie? Sounds dirty... :rolleyes1

I've never made monkey bread, but I've heard of it before (the cinnamon/sugar version).

When I first saw this thread, though, I thought it was going to be about Monkey Boy and the bread that he made. I'm glad that I was wrong! :rotfl2:

If you moved here Tig, I'd bake just for you :cloud9: Dh's crew is highly sought after in part because they eat so well. His office is a popular place to be between October and January. About once a month they get a HUGE comfort food feast of fried chicken or meatloaf with all the trimmings. 2 days work but worth it. I'm the sweetheart of the IBEW :rotfl:

Fridge bickie= refridgerated biscuits, pillsbury in a can type.

Oh for crying out loud, lady, you're the only person I know who shortens biscuits! I sure hope the tag fairy is paying attention today! :rotfl2: She gives cin/sugar Bickies!!! :lmao:

Mmmmm - monkey bread. I was just talking about this with my aunt. My gma used to make it for us when we were young (sugar and cinn kind). It was soooo good! I thought DS and I could make it...but I don't have the recipe. Ancient Gma's secret I guess...

I make it sometimes when the girls have friends sleep over - and the kids always ooh and aahh like I'm the best cook in the world! My recipe sounds like the one posted - minus the cherries.

Here's my version, a bit different.
Frozen Rolls (like in the bag that are individual)
Roll them in a cinnamon and sugar mixture (no set amount, you choose)
Melt 1/2 stick butter/margarine
Put a layer in bottom of solid angel food cake pan
Sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar mixture
Add another layer of the rolls
Sugar mix again
Pour butter/margarine over
Let them rise until they double in size

Bake 350* for 30 minutes!

Nah, I want one that says "The Sweetheart of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, or Dh's "fraternity" as he calls it)"! They once sent me flowers in the hospital that said that. It cracked me up. I hope my new BFF the Tag Fairy is listening ;)

Fridge bickies = whomp biscuits.

Lewis Grizzard called them "whomp biscuits" because you whomp the package on the edge of the counter to open them :teeth:
