I'm making Monkey Bread Thanksgiving morning. The recipe is a bit time intensive with the cutting of the biscuits and then rolling each piece in the cinnamon sugar. I'm thinking of preparing the bread up to the point of baking the night before. Has anyone ever tried it this way? My biggest concern is the biscuits rising properly.

I get the Rhode's rolls frozen dough, melt the brown sugar and butter together, pour over the rolls, sprinkle the pudding over the rolls and place in a WELL sprayed bundt pan. Put the rolls in FROZEN the night before, place in oven (don't turn on), cover with a towel and allow them to raise overnight. In the morning remove towel and bake. It takes less than 15 minutes this way.

I always mix the cinnamon and sugar combo in a freezer bag and then shake the biscuits in the bag, you know like shake & bake. It's pretty easy and oh so YUMMY!!

Maybe use the frozen rolls instead (Bridgford Parkerhouse or Rich's). They sell them where the veggies and garlic breads are. Super easy. I always do mine a little differently though. Instead of rolling each piece in cinnamon sugar, I simmer the brown sugar with butter and cinnamon. Add the raisins, cook for 2-3 more minutes and then pour 1/2 in the bottom of my bundt cake pan. I add the frozen dough balls, sprinkle butterscotch pudding over them and pour the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture on top. They rise overnight on the counter and I bake them the following morning. :goodvibes

Golfgal, your recipe is different from mine. The one I use doesn't use pudding. Can you share your recipe, please?

26 Rhodes white dinner frozen rolls
1 cup brown sugar
2 small packages of butterscotch pudding (NOT INSTANT)-I can't usually find small packages so I use one large box
1 stick butter

Melt butter and brown sugar, pour over FROZEN rolls, place in well sprayed bundt pan (Pam, Crisco spray, etc.). Sprinkle pudding over the top of the rolls, place in oven covered with a towel. Let rolls rise overnight. In the morning remove towel, place cookie sheet on rack below the bundt pan to catch spills, bake for 30-40 minutes at 350. When done, place platter on top of bundt pan and invert pan onto platter, use a rubber spatula to get the rest of the caramel out-don't lick the spatula because the mixture will be HOT :rolleyes1. Eat.

Why not just make it the night before - or do you want to serve it warm? We like ours better after it has sat for awhile..:goodvibes

I make mine the night before, but you have to bake it in the morning-which takes all of 3 seconds to turn on the knob :lmao:.

We have this every year Christmas morning while we are opening presents.

Your recipe sounds awesome! I love the idea of doing one for Christmas morning. :goodvibes

I've only made Monkey bread with the refrigerated biscuits, so I look forward to trying this!:thumbsup2

And I've only ever eaten it warm, but then I like most desserts like that warm (apple pie, peach pie, pecan pie, etc. I will eat pecan pie cold, but fruit pies get stuck in the microwave if they aren't still hot)
