Firmly in the Credit card camp here, we always take around £200 in cash for the small cash purchases and the rest is on credit cards, exactly the same way as we live at home, everything on the cards, pay them off asap.
You also have insurance on things purchased with CCs, not to mention cashback

We take cash, TC's and CC's the latter being completely paid off each month by direct debit. IMO you need all three, it is an unlikely event that anything is lost or stolen but having all three means at least you are not left without any form of finance.

We usually have cash, TC and CCs. We mostly use TC and if we have any left we put them towards our next trip to Orlando.
