Please don't flame me for this post. I actually do use this service and it has saved us lots.
--------------------------
Last year, we did something that has saved us a lot of money, which of course we put toward our Disney trips. We changed our long distance phone company from AT&T to a company called Covista. You must be online because they do e-billing and charge your bill to your credit card, but the savings are tremendous. We live in NJ but all of our family and many of our friends live in PA, so the vast majority of our personal phone calls were long distance. Our monthly usage averages about 600 minutes. With AT&T, we paid $.10/min. peak and $.07/min off-peak, plus a $4.95 montly fee (might have been $3.95 - don't remember). Anyway, our average bill was about $55.
Covista is a flat $.03/min. all day with a $3 monthly fee, so 600 minutes only costs us $21. That works out to an annual savings of over $400! Comes in handy when we head South to see Mickey.
They also have low rates on instate toll calls - for NJ it is also $.03/min but it varies in different states. Previously, we were paying $.08/min. for those calls.
If you want to check it out, their website is www.kissld.com
Happy saving.
