$ money question $

You should be fine, especially since your boys will have some of their own spending money. One thing you can think about is that if you wait to buy your souveniers till the last day or so, you will have had a chance to see everything offered and may avoid buyer's remorse. Instead of buying everything that strikes your fancy, make a list, mentally or on paper/in your phone, of what you like and then buy it at the end of the trip when you have the money.

With the dining plan, you should be fine for food. I rarely buy much in the way of souveniers because I make a photopass calendar when I get home as a treat for myself. We just don't spend much on that kind of stuff. Food is always our biggest expense.

Last year, we MAYBE spent $500 over the room, tix and tips, my DD birthday was while we were at WDW and she got a LOT of birthday money for spending (everyone but her knew we were leaving after her party so she got over $200 in Disney GC and cash to spend... You should be fine!

Thanks both of you for your replies! Much appreciated.... I think we will be fine too. :)

You will be fine. We are budgeting about the same for our trip. We did dining plan and are staying business class so other than tips for food and housekeeping we don't plan on spending anything. Pictures and autographs are our souvenirs. Hath! I am a cheapskate and can make do on very little money lol.

One other way to save a few $$ is to not have mousekeeping clean your room everyday. Just leave the DND sign on the doorknob. I know when I'm there with my we are not very messy and I can straighten the bed just fine. Mousekeeping will just leave a bag by your door with fresh towels, soap, etc.

My family of 7 will be going next August for our first trip to Disney. I'm CHEAP. We are only taking $500 for souvenirs. My plan is to be thins like t-shirts, toys, and such offsite at Walmart. I'm sure that the store in Florida have all kinds of stuff that I can't find in Louisville, KY. You can go to a department store and find a Disney themed shirt for $15, btu at the parks i'm betting they'er $25+. I will be buying things at Disney, but there is alot that can be found offsite thaat will be cheaper. The tip about charging items to your room seem like it should work out well if you don't want to go offsite.

This thread is better suited for the Budget Board, so I've moved it. :)

You are taking 3 boys, aged 13, 13, and 9, by yourself? :worship:

That made me laugh!!! And I'm getting that reaction from a few friends.... But, they feed themselves, no diaper changing and can probably entertain themselves by the pool so I can enjoy a cocktail. I'm not worried. And sure we can manage a few more kids as long as all expenses are paid!!!! :)

And thanks swashie & josiemouse for your feedback & experience! Helps alot knowing what everyone else does!!!!! :)

We don't spend much when we are there and on the DDP. Other than tips, everything is paid for. We aren't big souvenir people and I bring some things I purchased ahead on sale. We do get a garden grocer delivery with breakfast food, bottled water and some snacks to have at the pool though, so without that we would spend some more on snack food here and there.
