Money in Cinderella’s Wishing Well

So, my granddaughter and I got into a discussion this morning about the money in Cinderella‘s Wishing Well . Does Disney drain it and collect the money that way or is there a mechanism by where it goes directly into the utilidors like some of the trash cans do? Just something that made us go hmm…

I believe they do something like an annual (or thereabouts) clean up of coins from all fountains and rides like it's a small world. The money is donated to non-profits.
