The guide books always used to say (they still may say it:) ) that Mondays are heavily attended at MK in the summer. Sundays used to be ideal, but has EMH on Sundays changed any of this?
We always try to arrive at MK prior to opening and stay until it gets crowded:crowded: , at which point we park hop, or go take a nap:wave2:

Mornings at MK we arrive early and use EMH and when crowd starts to build around 11:00 we stop and have early lunch. Then after luinch go to Epcot for rest of the day.We avoid MK on Sat. and Mon.::yes:: :wave2:

the offical book is correct... way too busy!!! don't chance it unless it's downpouring rain in the morning...

Ditto Tink!!!!! It was so crowded on Monday our last trip that you couldn't even fall down!!!:crowded:

Would you also avoid Monday night e night (until 2:30AM) or is that usually not too bad. Like arrive from EPCOT at MK around 9PM-closes at 10.

We just did a Monday E-Night, this past Monday, and walked on just about every ride! It was great! I'm sure the rain we had deterred some people, though.

I would advise you stay away from MK on Monday!:earseek: On my last trip, the parks weren't very crowded so I figured Monday at MK would be ok too. WRONG! It was shoulder to shoulder walking in Fantasyland.

If Sun. is an EMH day, why is the next day at MK so crowded? Many people on these boards feel like using the "day after" strategy is pretty effective. Is Mon. different because most families arrive over the weekend and start their touring on Mon. at MK? Thanks!

That's it basically! I think Sunday is a big check in day and where does everyone head on their first day? Before I started planning this was what I wanted to do - arrive Sunday, MK Monday. I am, however, going to avoid!

I have heard different views on Saturday though. Some people argue that in the summer a lot of people use Saturday to travel elsewhere, while locals don't go to MK (why go during the hot and crowded summer when you can go any time?). With this in mind it might actually be a better time to visit, especially if you arrive early!

Hmmmmm......I'd posted here somewhere a study our statistician did on the peak wait times at the MK from Saturday through Tuesday during Spring Break. The peak wait times for every day were within 5 minutes of each other, IIRC, with Tuesday having the highest wait times. So I don't think Monday is particularly bad. And I can't think of any reason why Wednesday or Thursday would be worse than Saturday or Sunday.....so I'm thinking there's not much variation between weekdays. I'm holding judgement on Saturday until we get more information.

Finally, as others have noted, the season you go has much more impact on the crowd conditions than the day of the week.

Anyway, I think Monday would be fine, given this new information. Good luck on your trip, weluvpluto!

Sincerely,

Len Testa

Thanks Len! I was hoping you would post to this thread :p
I clicked on your link and found (since we don't plan on using EMH for MK) that Friday and Saturday were the best days to go, but I was hoping for another day earlier in the week.

Don't know if this helps but I was at WDW May 7- 14th. We went to MK on Saturday and it wasn't crowded at all. Longest wait was maybe 30 minutes. We used FPs and had a great time. Returned on Tuesday and we couldn't believe how crowded it was. We kept saying Saturday was so much better! Oh yeah, when we arrived at WDW on Friday night, we took a ride on the monorail and decided to pop into MK to see about Wishes. We just stood on a very uncrowded Main Street and watched a great show! It was so empty on the street, my 7 year old son sat on the ground, right in the middle of the street to watch the show!

Over the past several years Mondays have always been crowded. It never fails we have to go to MK for some reason on Monday and it is usually packed. I think the theory of people checking in on Sundays has a lot to do with it. We usually check in on Sunday Mornings and go straight to MK. The park is not too bad till about noon.

We were at WDW in late Feb. MK was packed on Monday, but Epcot and MGM were mostly empty - walk on TT and RCR. We have decided just to avoid MK on Mondays. :sunny:

Hi weluvpluto,

Wednesday is also a good day to visit the MK (b/c it's Epcot's EMH day). And as I wrote above, I wouldn't worry too much about Monday either. The season is the dominant factor in crowd size, followed probably by Extra Magic Hour.

Best of luck on your trip!

Sincerely,

Len Testa
