Are pirate days, all summer long.
One of the ways they celebrate is a special pirate-themed supper each Monday at Shutters. They add some decorations and have some special guests-
The quality of the character interaction really is great at Vero. Also, they do some things to make it fun for the kids - they have a pirate ceremony where they swear them in as pirates, and then give them a treasure map. They also give you photocopied coloring pages and pages for Donald and Goofy to sign. Everyone gets a doo rag and an eye patch.
The food is an all you can eat served family style. They have one set of side items, like baked beans, new potatoes, corn on the cob, cole slaw. They also have oven-baked chicken, oven-baked pork ribs, shredded pork mixed with a mild red sauce, and roast beef slices. Sweet corn bread and rolls are served, and they have cup cakes for desert. I wasn't a big fan of the ribs, but I found that if I took the roll and put the shredded pork and cole slaw on it then it was sort of like a bbq sandwich and wasn't too bad.
They also have a mild-pirate theme, well, they mentioned something about pirates at least, at the Monday night campfire. Tonight a lot of folks showed up to make some delicious schmo's. I felt kind of sorry for the cm
's for being bumrused for marshmellows, but they did a great job.
