Monday is the DH and I are going to quit smoking. We have bought the patches and are ready to start the program. Please send all good thoughts and prayers our way. Pray that we don't strangle each other during this process. DH is so committed to quitting. He never before has had any desire to quit. I have always had the desire, but knew living with a smoker that it would be so hard for me to quit. It is going to be tough. But, I know we can both do it.

Good luck to both of you! DH quit 7 years ago - right before we moved into this house. He also used the patch, but he used them for double the time. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but aren't you supposed to use some for so long and then use others? Well, if he was supposed to wear one type for a week he wore it for two, etc. Worked for him and he had been smoking for almost 20 years!

Wishing you both all the best!!!!! I am sure you both can do it!

LOL

Good luck to both of you....you can do it! :cheer2:

I'll give you encouragement but I'll tell you a story too. My grandmother smoked for many, many years. She ended up quitting when she began getting ill with emphysema. She couldn't walk many steps toward the end without being totally out of breath. In the end it was a painful and early death about 20 years ago. I miss her very much and I wish I didn't have to lose her so early to a preventable disease. I wish I didn't have to see her in the hospital hooked up to the ventilator and other machines. So, do it for yourself. Do it for your family. You will live longer, healthier lives. Good luck!

Sending good thoughts your way..........

I quit 5+ years ago, and even now when I get stressed- I start thinking "boy, wouldn't a few puffs calm me down right now".....

Mind over nicotine though, think good thoughts!!

My best, doxdogy!! You guys WILL do it. A day at a time. 24 short hours. One day, then another. And then, you are over it. You can, you WILL do it. If you have any tough times, please do stop by here for some support. You know we are great with that. I have been smoke free for over 30 years, so glad I am. You will soon.'s for you both.

Dan

Best of luck to both of you. The best thing is that you are quitting together. Since you have each other to lean on, (as long as you don't strangle each other!) I feel you have a much better chance for success!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

6 months today for me !

Best of luck ! I'm cheering for you !

My DH quit cold turkey when we started dating because he thought I might be going down that road and he did not want it on his head, so he just quit! He said he thinks about it daily and dreams about it, and we have had pretty good times all these years, and when we hit a very stressful time with our DD being in the hospital with her appendix and I asked him why he didn't start back up, and he said he just refuses to go back! Stay strong! I have to say they also won't let you smoke anywhere in a childrens hospital!! Hey maybe you can hang out in your local hospital!!

Congratulations and good luck! You can do it!! :teeth: I quit cold turkey almost 19 years ago. :teeth:

Goodluck, you can do this. ::yes::
