I would never expect any food at 30,000 feet to pass for anything more than "edible".

Eat at the airport then deal with whatever you get handed. It will almost certainly include a bread roll. The flight isn't that long and you won't be doing anything so you shouldn't get too hungry. At the other end, you can grab something.

Hi we just got back a week ago flying with monarch and the food was ok. we got a box with a little lunch then what felt a long time later we got a hot meal all the rolls and cheese etc. we ate it there and back but then we are not really fussy eaters I would advise to take snacks with you though as my boys were not full on those little meals. The snacks and drinks are very expensive it was £5 for two hot chocolates £1.70 for water and £2.60 for juices!!

Hope this helps x

Flew with Monarch last week.

TBH thought food was fine no worse than virgin, US Airways.

On way out flight was 9 am ish. We were served a cold breakfast in a box - was fine. A yoghurt/museli thing, orange juice, muffin. Coffee.

Later chicken, potatoes and veg, choc dessert, cheese crackers and coffee or tea.

They do charge for soft drinks and sell snacks aswell.

On way back virtually same chicken meal. Breakfast was again a cold option - muffin etc. Thought this was much better than virgin who used to serve those vile smelling microwaved breakfast rolls that used to make me feel ill and more practical if people are still asleep.

Also liked the box idea - easier to pack rubbish into.

No complaints.
