:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: Anyone flown Monarch Airways recently, read a few worrying reviews elsewhere.

What they like?

We got Monarch Plus, any comments on this.

Food,entertainment,legroom, all details wanted

Thanks

I don't know what they are like to the States but we flew with them once to Kerela and wouldn't touch them again. They put us on a plane that we would have expected to fly to Spain in and the service was the worst I have ever had on a flight.

The food was inedible, even the cheese crackers which didn't need cooking! I'm not sure what the meal was - it's not that I can't remember I'm just not sure what it was. The plane was really hot and the cabin crew told us at first that the Captain refused to turn it down. After people started really kicking up a fuss they told us that the Captain couldn't turn it down. They wouldn't get drinks for anyone, bearing in mind the plane was really hot, and confiscated any drinks that people had bought on board.

The entertainment system was broken so we had no monitors or music. They told us this after they had sold the earphones and, of course, wouldn't refund anyone. How the crew didn't get punched by the passengers I don't know. The flight back wasn't as bad (at least the plane was cool!) but it still was very poor.

Perhaps we got a 'bad one' but we would never go with them again. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have positive experiences but, as they say, it only takes one.

Flew Monarch in August in Premium - could not fault it at all. Plenty of legroom, 2 hot meals (breakfast and dinner) which were good and great crew.

I use Monarch for flights to Malaga, no problem with them whatsoever, taking off early and arriving early
Good service

Same here, flown with them on two holidays to Orlando Sanford and couldn't fault them. I was expecting the very worse from reviews I had read but they were fine.

I flew with Monarch to Florida some years ago, so things may be different now, but we went via Bangor in Maine making the whole journey much longer. This was still classed as a direct flight as we didn't need to change planes and it wasn't shown on the ticket or itinerary. We all had to go thru customs and immigration there so when we arrived in Orlando (presumably Sanford - can't quite remember) we just walked off the plane and collected our bags. The plane was small and the service was OK, but I wouldn't choose to fly them long haul again purely because of the route they were taking.

They're certainly budget, 29" seat pitch if I remember right. We always paid for extra legroom. Having said that I would use them again. You simply get a budget flight for a budget price. Never had any probs with crew, they always seemed ok to me.

Hi we flew with monarch 2006 to sanford and spent the journey with my knees pressed against the seat in front, unfortunately it was a bad flight(but brilliant holiday)we flew with travel city direct aug 2007 and they were spot on,plenty of legroom in economy, and we have booked to go with tcd aug 2008:) have a great holiday.
bye David..

We have flown with them on a charter flight to join a P&O Caribbean Cruise and they were absolutely dire. Personally I wouldn't touch them on any flight longer than 2 hours.

I flew with them 3 years ago to Sanford and if given the choice wouldn't use them again, the seat pitch is only 29" so can be cosy if someone in your party is tall, however because they will undoubtely use an airbus the arms on the isle seats will lift up to give you a bit more room to spread out. The service was average and so was the food, but then again it's a charter airline so no surprises there :rolleyes1. We had to refuel in Canada due to bad weather on take off causing the plane to use more fuel, which in itself added around 2 hours onto the flight
The Mytravel flight this year was much better
