Moms to be Part 4

Hello Ladies!

I just got back from my second dr's visit this week. This time around was just an ultrasound and dropping off my 24 hour urine collection jug. I never thought I'd be so obsessed with pee LOL!

Everything looked good on the ultrasound--umbilical cord blood flow, amount of amniotic fluid, baby's heart rate, etc. She's measuring 55th percentile now with an estimated weight of 7 pounds 2 ounces. So she's dropping in her percentile rank since a few months ago (when she measured 75th percentile) and a couple of weeks ago (when she measured 65th percentile). So they estimate she'd be about 8-8.5 pounds at birth. Of course we all know these measurements can be totally wrong, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Now I just wait to hear back if the urine shows protein (in which case they'll induce me ASAP), and if not, I'll go in Tuesday for my midwife visit to see if I'm dilated/effaced at all yet. I'm hoping I can nail them down a bit more on exactly when they want to schedule the induction while I'm there. Apparently if I've made some progress, it would be closer to 39w0d, but if not, they might wait a few more days. Either way, they've said they won't let me go to 40 weeks.

Skuttle ~ I was on the TTC thread with you when you were TTC #2! So very happy for you that #3 wasn't even tried for. Just a pleasant surprise! We have been TTC #2 for almost a year now :sad2: Either way I'm very happy for you! :goodvibes Congrats and I hope this pregnancy is easy on you.

Thanks!! I hope you get your #2 soon!

ALLISON! Oh my gosh! This is unbelievable, and SOOOO exciting! I'm thrilled for you! !

Thanks!!SO happy that things are going well for you courtney!! I had read about your scare a while back on the ttc thread.

:cheer2: Welcome WDWAurora and Skuttle! :cheer2: So happy that fellow TTCers have made their way here. It's kinda full circle for me, because both of you either had/were preg with your babies and had graduated from the TTC board when I was on there. Now I am 36 wks and getting ready for my little guy and you are both joining in at the beginning of your pregnancies! So exciting! Skuttle, my hope is that my #2 will be as pleasant a surprise as your #3! Since we never had any diagnosis for our infertility, I know that it's possible! :)

Thanks!! We never had a diagnosis either. Dh had some sperm issues, I am insulin resistant, PCOS was mentioned once. Fertility is a crazy thing!! You are so close!! It does fly by!!

Skuttle - Congrats! I remember you from this thread during your last pregnancy...my baby boy was born 3-30-11. I have not checked in here in at least 6 months, but just stopped in to lurk and see if any adorable babies pics were posted and I see your post ! Hmmm, I better be careful myself.

Skuttle, do you know or remember how things went for esbrick? She was having a few problems back when I had my baby. I stopped visiting the thread in about April, but everything was still ok....do you know what she had? I was just thinking of her when I was reading through some posts and went back to the March posts when I had my baby, and she was very active on this thread then...I scrolled through some more posts, but couldn't find any posts saying how things worked out for her.

Thanks! E has a beautiful 4 month old son, Declan. :)

I had blood work done last week. HCG ok but progesterone low so I'm taking prometrium. Didn't ask the numbers because I knew I'd drive myself crazy. Go Tuesday for ultrasound to make sure all is ok.

Good luck Elisabeth! Hope everything goes well from now through delivery. Sounds like you will have a big girl!

Just found this thread, and its almost too late! I am 34 weeks along with our first baby (a little boy!), but our ninth child! We have 8 adopted kids and were finally able to conceive using a donated embryo. We are all extremely excited to meet the newest addition to our family.

I have had a really easy pregnancy thus far, and I hope it holds that way until the end.

Since we did a frozen embryo transfer (a natural cycle), I started progesterone as soon as I ovulated. They checked my levels with the pg test and my levels were a little low too. I ended up having my levels checked and my dosage increased many times until I was finally able to stop at 13 weeks. The interesting thing is that my RE was concerned, but my OB wasn't. He explained to me that most doctors don't ever check progesterone because there is too wide of a range of normal and they don't know enough about it to know when to be concerned or not.

All that to say, don't worry! I stressed and stressed over it, but everything was fine and haven't had any problems!

Hello Ladies!

Here's my update from today's appointment. Everything looked great on the ultrasound. Sweet Pea is completely head down and rump right under my rib cage, so that's good birth position. :)

I'm 2-3 cm dilated, so that's encouraging. Of course they still don't know when I'll go into labor based on that, but at least progress has been made! So here's the plan:

1) Go in on Friday for the non-stress test
2) Go in on Tuesday for my regular appointment & an ultrasound if I haven't already gone into labor on my own
3) We will schedule an induction date on Tuesday that will be between then and Sunday (when I would turn 40 weeks)

So we'll just have to wait and see! But I'm so glad they are satisfied with my blood pressure numbers and the test results so far.

Love this news!!!!!!!!!

I've never been on this thread before, but I have seen it on the New Posts page often. I just wanted to drop in because yesterday I got a positive HPT and I can't really shout it from the rooftops yet, but I really, really wanted to tell someone!!!!!

DH and I were TTC #3 since January of last year and frankly, I was losing hope. I can't describe how thrilled I am, but I'm sure a lot of you can understand.

How long until I stop crying every time I think the words 'I'm pregnant!!"?

Thanks y'all!

Welcome, and congratulations!!! Many of us here can totally relate to waiting and trying not to lose hope for our little ones. Our Sweet Pea was conceived after 18 months that seemed sooooo long.

Emotion pretty much goes with the territory--once you can not cry when thinking of pregnancy, you'll get to see the little peanut on ultrasound and it will start all over again. ;)

Yay! So glad that the BP is doing well. Hope everything goes smoothly the next few days!

I had my 37 week appt yesterday. I am 1 cm, 90% effaced, and he's at 0 station. Hopefully I keep making progress! My BP was super high yesterday so they were worried about PIH, but I didn't have protein in my urine so they just want me to take it easy as much as possible. I took my BP at work today and it was normal, so I'm hoping yesterday was just a fluke!

Glad to hear about your progress!

Take my advice, and listen to them about taking it easy. Not that my 24 hour urine monitoring in the hospital wasn't fun ;) but I'm thinking you'd rather avoid it. It's hard not to do all the "nesting," but I figure my main job right now is to take it easy so the baby and I can be in the best shape possible.

Welcome to the group! Are your other children beside themselves with excitement too?

Thank you! They definitely are! For 4 of them, this is the first baby sibling they will have had. For the others, I'm sure this is the first time that a baby is celebrated and anticipated. They were supportive of the idea when we talked to them about trying the embryo transfer and desperately wanted it to work. This has been a wonderful journey for all 10 of us!

Disneybabies - I wish I could answer that question for you! I'm almost 35 weeks and I still tear up when I think about being pregnant! The excitement just gets stronger with every day that goes by.

Please don't take this in any bad way.
Just curious how you adopted an embryo when you already have 8 children?
From what we have learned embryos are adopted by childless couples.

Glad you don't have PIH -- definitely try to rest these next few weeks! Your little one will be here before you know it!

We have the same due date! :goodvibes

The process we went through was more of a donation than a formal adoption, and the guidelines are set by the clinic that is facilitating it. We were very fortunate that we found a clinic that was willing to work with us. Our situation is very unique in that we have lots of kids but have never had a baby. We adopted all of our kids through the foster care system when they were older (2.5, 4, 4, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 7). The clinic we went through understood our desire to have a baby and was glad to work with us. We did not have any luck when we were looking into infant adoption.

My Dr checked my progesterone because of my history of infertility and miscarriage. With my very first baby, before the infertility issues, I didn't even have a blood test done!

Congratulations!! It took us 4 years to conceive DS#2 who will be 1 on the 28th. I think I finally calmed down once I could feel him moving around. But even to this day, I still look at him sometimes and can hardly believe he's here after everything we went through.

Joanne and Elisabeth...Are y'all still hanging in there? :goodvibes

As for me, I've been doing well. The prometrium isn't messing with me too much, thankfully! I had my first ultrasound on Tuesday and saw the baby. :) Heartbeat was nice and strong in the upper 140s!! Measured about 4 days behind what I thought, so due date is August 29th instead of the 25th. I go back in a month for a regular OB checkup since everything looked good, unless I have problems before then. I had a little pink spotting after the ultrasound, but I think it was just from that. Dr. also put me back on Metformin. I had forgotten to take to to WDW , and then when we got home is when I found out I was pregnant so I wasn't sure if I should take it. She wants me to keep taking it.

Skuttle (and hipporina), you're exactly right - and I wish I could have been so wise! :rotfl: With this round of IVF we were at an out-of-state clinic that did things differently, so I was monitored a bit more between the clinic here and the ones in charge. At one point when the progesterone would have been good 15-20, mine was over 200 - and I freaked out just as badly as I would have if it were low. Of course with a history of miscarriage/luteal phase issues it's crucial, but for most of us (especially many of us IVFers who might not even have female factors) it's just an additional source of stress. Good for you not pushing for the numbers! :goodvibes

Have been reading along, but mostly lurking. This pregnancy has been so different than with the girls! Much, MUCH easier physically (already in the hospital intermittently, on bed rest for the duration, and (still) on the Zofran pump with them)... but much more difficult emotionally. I'm struggling with antenatal depression but doing the best I can. Tremendously thankful for what I have.

We did find out it's a boy, which took a while to adjust to - but now we're all excited and wish it wasn't so long until we meet him! I'm 26 weeks, and he seems to be doing just great. We've had several u/s because they've labeled me "high risk" (thanks to my last pregnancy -- definitely not a necessity for this one, at least so far), and it's been nice for the girls to be so involved in waiting for Baby Brother.

Hope everyone is doing well! :goodvibes

Joanne and Elisabeth...Are y'all still hanging in there? :goodvibes

Still hanging in there! Feeling more uncomfortable every day that goes by. I really never thought that laying on the couch would be such an uncomfortable thing! Even in the little pillow fort I lay in, it's still hard for me to get a comfortable spot.
I found myself doing some nesting this morning. Normally when I am in the nursery I have some sort of purpose, this morning I was in there just refolding blankets and clothes, moved some from one drawer to another and then back again! :) I also took everything off the shelf in his closet and put it all back in a different (yet quite similar to the original) way!
I am also so happy that I only work part time now. I don't think I would be able to work this far if I was working full time. I originally switched to part time so I could do some stress reduction and soul searching during infertility, then ended up finding out we were pregnant 3 weeks later! Having the extra days to relax and do nothing is so nice. I feel like I can barely manage the fatigue and discomfort sometimes and I'm on the couch doing nothing. What would I do if I was working full time in my fast paced hospital job?

Skuttle, glad the ultrasound went well! Also good to hear that you are tolerating the Prometrium well. I was on Endometrin for the first 12 weeks of this pregnancy. I had been on Prometrium in previous failed cycles and was not a fan of it, so I'm glad it's going well for you!
