It was so annoying!!! My mom would stay with me overnight and the nurse would come in with no makeup and a pony tail and then DH would show up and she would come back with full makeup and hairdo. She also totally ignored me and would just fawn over DH. I'm sure she probably does that with a lot of the dads too - doesn't she get that a maternity ward is probably not the best place to pick up men.

My DH was totally oblivious to it too so he thought she was "nice". Ugh!

What an idiot! I can't believe you had to put up with that, there is just no excuse! Did your mom happen to notice it too or was she on her best behavior in front of your mom?

All you previous C-section moms.... Did you have a day about a week after your section where a giant clot broke free and you were bleeding everywhere? I landed in the ER about 1 week after because I looked like I was hemorrhaging -- seriously, we were at a dr. appt (for DD) across the street from the hospital, and in the elevator on the way down the clot broke. By the time we got to the ER my shorts and the bath towel we had in the car were soaked through. -- The ER docs told me that is normal for a c-section... um, then why didn't my doctor tell me about it. Scared the crap outta me. So is it normal?

Sounds like me. I thought I was going to die about 7 days PP. I started bleeding around 8am and it got so bad with cramping and bleeding I thought my insides were going to fall out. It honestly felt like labor. When we called, the doctor said it was normal, but we called back and insisted we come in. I just didn't feel right.

They did an ultrasound and saw copious amounts of blood. I bled so much I fainted in the tech's bathroom! When I was admitted in the hospital my white cell count was 40,000 (I understand normal is under 10,000!). So I had an emergency D&C and felt like a new person! So I guess I don't know what normal is. Mine certainly wasn't, and yours didn't either. Did they ever check your blood count? I had so much blood I was soaking DDs diapers in 20 mins time.

Another product question: anyone used or planning on getting the napnanny? It looks awesome (but super expensive)!

DH was surprised to learn that many of the carriers only go up to 22 pounds. I told him that was fine with me; I don't want to be carrying it when the baby is heavier than that!

I guess I'm the odd one out, but I'm going to ask my OB to leave me in an extra day.

I was hoping for an extra day with the twins- I was like come on, 2 babies, stay twice as long, right?? Nope. With the V delivery it feels like they are shoving you out the door. I delivered my second twin at 10:03 pm on a Monday and Wednesday morning they were like, Okay, get out! I'm just going to be prepared for that this time around but if I had the offer to stay a little bit longer, I might take them up on it.

I know this will sound awful, but I really like to get the visiting with people over with at the hospital. It's just so much easier on me to not have them in my house and feeling like I need to feed and entertain them. Plus, they don't feel inclined to stay as long at the hospital as they do at my house where it is nice and cozy. Again, I realize that sounds just awful but I like coming home and not having to worry about visitors in addition to dealing with a newborn.

Oh and Patsy, you're not alone, I also sent my kids to the nursery. I figured after all I went through with labor and delivery, I was going to at least get as much sleep as I could while I could. Come in and wake me when baby needs to nurse, that's fine, but otherwise, let me attempt to recuperate a little bit. I mean, isn't that what I'm there for?

This is great advice. I'm going to have my husband pick them up for me!!
We're using Fuzzi Bunz too. We got a few preemie size and the rest are the one size from 7-35lbs

That is so cool that they have one size FuzziBunz now. We used Mediums and then Larges for DS.

I didn't with my first and I came into it with the twins because of their horrid diaper rashes and nothing would help. Switching to cloth was an amazing transformation for their skin, especially my daughter. I've received a ton of comments on it, I've been called a "freaky hippie" more than once, etc..... I don't even care anymore, I just wish people would be more informed before passing judgement.

The biggest comments are about how gross it is- whether because you have to flush the poops (once they start on table food, exclusively breastfed poop is water soluble) and that I'm washing poopy diapers in my washing machine. If people would stop and look at the disposable packages, they would see that you are supposed to flush poop from them too- poop is not meant to go in a landfill, ever. As for the laundry, that's just funny. Babies and kids are messy. I was going to say that even disposable diapers can have poop blowouts but I have to say, I had MORE in disposables than in cloth, probably because cloth fits better. So either way though, you are washing poopy stuff in your washer, not to mention the first time your kid gets a stomach bug- that's just as nasty! Nasty laundry is just a fact of life with having kids!

Which kind are you guys using? I used mostly Kissaluvs and Fuzzi Bunz with the twins but there are a lot more easily available this time around so I'm trying a bunch with the baby to see what we like and then we'll go from there. They are just so cute, I have to stop myself from shopping! I've also gotten into wool this time around, OMG, adorable!


Wow to the baby arriving next week! After all you've been through this pregnancy I bet you are super excited and happy to see her! I hope you'll post when you get home and let us know how it went, I know I'll be rooting for you (and Spike!).

My favorite accessory for CDing was my diaper sprayer - that thing is amazing! We still use it all the time too even though DS is potty trained. For example my DH stepped in poo yesterday and it was perfect to clean his shoe.

Any moms here use gDiapers? It's like a combo between a cloth and a disposable, and the disposable parts are flushable and/or compostable. They also have cloth inserts. I'm gonna give it a go. Doing the strictly disposable inserts would be slightly more expensive than normal disposables, so I'll probably do a combo of the cloth and disposable. I hope my daycare will buy into it.

I bought some this time around. I plan to use regular cloth the majority of the time but I thought the gdiapers would be really nice for trips. Just an FYI, you can stuff the gdiapers with prefolds, much cheaper than the gcloth and supposedly works better too- we'll be doing that if we use them at home. I think they're neat and a good compromise for when regular cloth isn't really convenient- like for us, we're planning a 10 day vacation in August. I cannot imagine being at the mercy of a hotel laundry room and trying to do cloth diaper laundry- the time and expense just seem too ridiculous.

I bought the starter bundle- case of inserts, 6 small gpants and 12 tiny gpants. I already have my tiny g's stuffed with preemie prefolds and ready to go! The only complaint I have is their love affair with the orange pants. I hate orange and I think I now have three pairs of the orange pants. I wish I could trade them or somehting

Hehe thanks! I don't think we'd be doing it if my mom didn't offer to do it for us. DH didn't object, but he wasn't like "Yippee! Let's spend $100 on something we don't need!" LOL.

I put DD in the nursery too. I thought I *had* to prove my "momminess" by keeping her in the room with me. HA! I was on iVIllage pregnancy message boards at the time, wow, those moms really know how to push their beliefs on you and make you feel inferior! The nurses in the hospital actually told me that I should take advantage of the full nights sleep while I can in the hospital, because I wasnt going to get it at home! They were right! I don't regret it either, we're as bonded as could be... two (three?) peas in a pod.

OMG you need a medal. Suprise baby and suprise gender?!? Seriously, no sarcasm, you deserve a medal! You must have the patience of a saint!

nope, not even close. I think DH called it when he said I was in denial for a lot of the pregnancy. The fact that I've been so sick probably helped that- I feel/felt more like I had a chronic illness than a pregnancy. I have PCOS and endometriosis and my twins are the result of quite a bit of testing and treatment. I had two different RE's give me a less than 5% chance of ever conceiving on my own again, especially given recent problems I'd had. It's been six years since my twins were born and I've never used birth control except for a month or two here or there to try to help with my endo, so needless to say this was a shock!

They actually go to *35* now!! WTH!! That's like a 50lb weight to drag around!!

I am just not that strong.

At this point, making a quick run into the store is a thing of the past, so if I have to get one kid unbuckled, might as well unbuckle the other lol.

See, I've gotten spoiled. I have kindergarteners and a third grader- this year I finally got them all in school full day, so I've gotten kind of spoiled- I can even go out by myself during the week while they're in school! This is going to be such an adjustment, in a way it's kind of like starting over again. I wonder how those people who start over again when their kids are in high school do it.

Haha bad undies are definitely stop-worthy. I never had maternity undies, are there any benefits to them? They're more expensive than my regular undies, lol. (I get mine at Aerie when they're on sale, lol. cheap!)

No, they are just awful. I think they've gotten better since my first was born nine years ago but there is no benefit and they were just horribly uncomfortable. They were one size fits all!! and they were supposed to come up your belly. To be honest, I guess I probably just felt like I had to buy them and it never occurred to me not to, so I just sucked it up and dealt with them but they were really truly awful

I wear underwear from Victoria's Secret that is made of a stretchy nylon. I found that it worked great for pregnancy and was comfortable the whole time. Amazingly it even worked after my pregnancy was over and was not stretched beyond repair. It is a bit pricey (about $10 a pair) but totally worth the investment for comfort.

Yay I'm glad this thread is picking up. We all seem to be bonding.

I have a really really weird question-- is anyone else having scent aversions? They're not quite making me puke anymore, but man... they're really getting to me. The laundry smell is one of my worst! Soaps and shampoos are a close second. I'm using unscented everything! I was like this in my first pregnancy too, and it took almost a year to go away. Then I found Lush, this company that makes the best smelling soaps and shampoo bars... now they make me sick! LOL. Am I the only one?

Not too bad...but I can't STAND the smell of meat cooking, especially steak. Usually it doesn't bother me at all. Also when my puppy has a peepee accident. Ugh. Dh must clean it up or I get sick and have to clean both (gross, I know). I also don't like the smell when I open the dishwasher.

DH uses this after shaving moisturizer though that he has always used and I never thought twice about. Well, now I LOVE the smell of it; it is the best smell ever to me. Wierd, since I never noticed it smelling at all before.

That thing looks really cool. Never heard of it. Looks like it kind of positions them similar to the carseat but better.

Wow ... you guys are busy. I got to the park and Walmart and I am a page and half behind. How did that happen!!

I never gave cloth diapering a thought. I think I am too lazy. I am lucky I empty out the diaper trash often enough. I never had a diaper genie but used the Diaper Champ with DS and really liked that. Now I have the new Diaper Champ Deluxe and hate it. It doesn't do nearly as good a job as the first one. I wish I had known that when I threw it out when we moved. I would have stuffed it in the car with me.

All this talk about diaper cream and stuff, I realized I have like ONE tube of diaper cream that I keep stealing from the babies room for Alex. I just bought a few of each different kind at Walmart! Along with some baby wash, lotion and other things I have been procrastinating on.

I have been having stronger contractions today ... a few woke me up last night and then while at the park I started getting more. So far I have had about 5-6 over the last 1.5 hours that have made me stop what I am doing. Hopefully they will pass ... I can't wait to meet the baby but I am not ready yet. I have corned beef to make for dinner!!!

Okay ... nevermind, here comes another one. Jeeze ... I should probably go make sure my bag is packed completely. I already told my mom that she might want to get her bag ready sooner than Saturday for coming here! That should seal my fate that he won't come.

Oh ... I don't have any smell aversions anymore. Fish was a HUGE one in the beginning but that's it. I also DO NOT have men any more interested in me than before!!
