Congrats CiCi. Can't wait to see pictures. Glad to hear the C-section went well ... how's the recovery?

Five weeks from this AM and I should be holding my new little boy in an hour or so!! ;-) The nursery is all completed. I am so proud of it. I do need to steal a few things out of DS#1's room like the diaper pail and the wipes warmer ... neither of which we really need in his room anymore. I don't think they are the types of things he'll miss!!

The nursery looks great! So cozy and little manly :)

odd question, but where else could i ask but here?

For those of you that have pets, what are you doing with the nursery door when the baby goes down for a nap? are you closing the door all the way or are you putting up a gate? just curious!

i'm getting my haircut tonight and am so glad! my routine in the morning of blow drying and then flat ironing won't last too long with a little one. i'm planning on getting a couple inches taken off, but we'll see once i get there. :goodvibes I definitely need it to be thinned out. My hair is so thick! DH says I should get it cut to my chin, but that might be a little too drastic for me!

My dog and cat never bothered Lucas. We got lucky, I think...

Yeah, she's just lazy! ;) When she first starts a feeding she latches fine as she's hungry and opens wide. But then as she gets full she slowly releases the latch, so her mouth gets progressively smaller, thus more painful for me. Now that it's been 3 weeks that has gotten old so I've been much better about pulling her off at that point, but I still am not too vigilant overnight so it isn't totally resolved.

I agree with what you said about nursing being easier in the long run. Once you get over the learning curve in the beginning, there's no mixing, heating, cleaning, etc.

DMickey - Love the nursery!! It is adorable and I think the best part is that the colors can grow with Ryan as he's older.

I'm glad nothing is wrong, bummer that she is lazy though. Your post just reminded me of my friend, she struggled with her son and finally had a LC who figured out that he had the tongue tie, got it clipped and things were so much better after that.

I never did anything special with the kitties, they basically just went about their business as usual. When the kids first came home they were interested in what was in the baby seat, checked her out, sniffed her and that was that. I had one cat who was "involved" in what was going on with the kids as babies, he would sit near their bouncy seat or car seat or swing and if they cried he would meow until one of us picked them up. It was like he was protecting them or something, it was actually pretty cute. Other than that though, they left the kids alone, no worries.

good question. i have a cat and i've been starting to worry about this because sometimes she scratches. she hasn't been all that interested in the stuff we've set up so far (other than licking the play pen) so i'm not overly concerned... but still curious!

Are you looking to avoid this?

Thanks Lindsay ... Now I am going through pictures of DS and remembering what it will be like to have a little one again.

haha! that's great. I totally see one of our cats trying to attempt that. Now that he's older I don't think that he will attempt to jump in the pack and play. It's set up now in our family room and neither of them have paid any attention to it.

So, I think I'm getting an ear infection but I'm not sure if I should talk to my OB or go see my primary care doctor. Anyone have an idea?

Whichever one can get you in faster would be my choice. Regular doctor should be more than capable of prescribing a pregnancy safe antibiotic. Feel better!

Ah, I could see both tomorrow if I felt like lugging Lucas out. PCP is in with a group of about 24 doctors and they share NP's for sick calls.

I see my OB on Monday and thought about just waiting until then unless it gets worse. It's just at the pounding/I feel achy and icky stage right now. Not sure I want to lug my kid out for just a few days difference!

I'd go tomorrow Patsy. Do you get Ear infections enough to feel confident this is what it is? If you do, then I'd go. I wouldn't know what an ear infection coming on feels like so I'd wait but if you have had them as an adult and know, I'd go. Monday's almost a week away ....

ITA whomever is faster to get into. Since you are in your first trimester it's sketchy. I am not sure if you can even take amoxicillin.
Are there other non medication things you can do?

Yeah, I've had a few. Even had one this summer between having Lucas and getting pregnant again.... same thing as now. Felt it coming, went to the Dr. and got a z-pac.

I had the most horrible migraine last night! Same side that the infected ear is on. So I had the pounding ear, this horrific migraine and insomnia. Plus, I had to get up and pee like every hour. I had to hold a cold washcloth over my eye/temple to ease the headache. I'm not sure when I finally fell asleep.
This pregnancy is much, much, much different than my first one. :-/ People keep telling me that might mean it's a girl. Ugh, girls are already more difficult from the start if it's true! :rotfl:

Going to get the list finished today.

Girls aren't bad at all! My DD is awesome, she's a sweet, considerate little thing. She's my little buddy. Little girls aren't all divas! I promise!

Oh, I'd be thrilled with a girl. I really don't care. I thought I wanted boys until we took Lucas to Disney when he was 5 months.. and I started realizing that my boy won't do Bibbidi Boppiti Boutique (spell that right?) or the Princess dinners or anything. So it made me want a girl... that I could spoil rotten!

If I have 2 boys I'll be thrilled because they'll be so close they should be good friends (plus I already have all the clothes ;))

A girl I'd be thrilled because I already have a boy. Who knows!!!

:welcome: Adam Jesse!!! 7lbs, 14oz 20"!!! :welcome:
