Moms to Be Part 3

DH and I are both really sick now, some nasty cold bug that's going around at his work. Luckily Sudafed (one of the few meds we can take) seems to be working alright. It's not 100% working, but it's enough that I can get out of bed and move around. Ugh. Sneezing constantly SUCKS with this round ligament pain, lol

This is my lovely story from yesterday. I posted it elsewhere yesterday and just copied/pasted it from there.

I got to spend 5 hours in the ER this morning. I woke up around 4 to go to the bathroom (per usual) and there was red blood. A lot of it, it had soaked my (black) pants. I freaked, of course. I woke DH up and told him, checked the sheets for blood (none) and changed pants and put a pad on. I crawled back into bed, intending on waiting until my doctor's office opened to call. DH instead made me go to the ER. We got there around 5. Got triaged and waited some more. At 6, they took me for an u/s. Was scared to death to look at the screen but there Squirt was, squirming around with a healthy hb of 163bpm at 11w5d but measuring ahead about a week. Everything looked good. We even got to see Squirt's spine and have a printout of the face, which is creepy and skeletal.

Went back to the ER, finally got put in a room around 7, finally got seen by a doctor at 9. Did a pelvic (oh, the joy). Cervix was firmly closed, not sure where the blood came from but it'd stopped. Basically, we know nothing. I'm now on pelvic rest and was told to take it easy as much as possible (ie, live on the couch for a couple of days). I was told to follow up with my doctor in a week. I already had an appointment for next Friday, so my doctor said that's fine and to just let her know if anything changes.

Gah, this completely sucks. Now I'm freaked out that everytime I go to the bathroom, there's going to be more blood and that I'm going to lose Squirt, too.

Added today: There hasn't been any more bleeding, which is good. There has, unfortunately, been vomitting, for the first time. My version of morning sickness has been gagging a lot, particularly when I'm hungry. That changed last night when I threw up twice. I'm hoping it was a one-time thing, a combo of the gagginess and being completely exhausted (which usually makes me nauseous) because ick, it's so miserable.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to pop in and let you all know.....Emma Lily was born on Saturday morning at 10:49 am via an emergency c-section after 7 hours of labor. We made it all the way to 8.5 cm but after her heart rate crashed after 2 heavy contractions, it was decided that a c-section was the way to go. She came out totally healthy and adorable!
Just got home from the hospital. Going to take a nap. Thank you all for your advice and encouragement over the past 8 months!:flower3:

Congrats on baby Emma, Cappygirl!

Pixiegoose - Sorry to hear what happened. That must have been really scary for you and your husband. I'll be sending prayers your way that all the bleeding is done so you can rest easy.

Locolala - I have gotten a ton of colds this fall/winter and being pregnant has not made them very fun. I am allergic to pseudophedrine so I can't really take anything and am just miserable for days.

Welcome Emma!!
Pixie- that sounds horrifying!! I'm glad you are okay and you should do your best to rest (I'm a horrible rester)

I'm 27 weeks today and my due date is exactly three months from tomorrow. I'm starting to get a little freaked out that she has to come out... of there... and she'll be large. Yep. Slightly freaked.

I've continued running and my sister said that she's going to come in March and wogg the princess with me. I think I'm going to make a shirt that says "Running out of womb" or "Running for two". I haven't decided yet.

pixie, yikes!! I'm glad you are feeling better though.

Welcome to Emma Lily!!!

Welcome Emma!! Congrats to mom and dad!

On a completely more irritating note... anyone know what flea and tick sprays and shampoos are ok around us pregnant people? It seems we have a case of brown dog ticks in our loft and for some reason, info on pesticides and pregnancy (of humans) is not very abundant. I found lots of info on stuff that is ok to use on pregnant and nursing dogs. Sheesh.

Pixie,

Do they think it was a sub chorionic hemmorage???

Glad Squirt was okay and active. Make sure you listen to the doctors and rest. Let us know how you are. I know I will be worried.

How scary! I remember having some bleeding at the beginning too. I also had the misfortune to see a heartless doctor who said I'd probably lose the baby because of it. Needless to say, I refuse to see that doctor anymore! (She's in the group of doctors I see)

Get some rest and feel better soon!

Congrats! :cheer2: I'm glad Mom & Emma are doing well!

Any one else freak out about maybe the ultrasound being wrong? I keep thinking that even though the tech said "oh yeah! it's a girl" (she was sitting with her legs straight back, so you couldn't help but see her "bits" :rotfl:) that it's going to come out a boy. It's not that I would be unhappy with a boy, it's just that everything I have is for a girl! :laughing! I guess I'm just concerned. Sorry, had to get that out :goodvibes

Hey folks! Our little Emma has arrived!
Last Friday (Jan 8) I came home from work and my back was killing me (along with my feet looking like Fred Flintstone's), but it had ached off and on over the week so I didn't think much about it. We went out to eat and I noticed the back pain was a dull constant ache, but that it would get a little more intense every now and then. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep.
I woke up Saturday morning and my back was still hurting, but not the worse pain I've ever felt. A friend of mine who is a L & D nurse sounded concerned because the pain fluctuated. DH and I timed them and they varied from being 5 minutes a part to 20! I finally called the doc around 3pm and he said it sounded like false labor since I didn't think my water had broke (keep in mind I had gone to the doc the previous Monday and wandered if my water broke, turned out I was just tinkling on myself, fun, fun). I relaxed with a tiny glass of wine to see if that would stop the "false" contractions. It worked for a little while, then after dinner the pains were back and much worse. I tossed and turned in the bed and could not get comfortable. Finally at 11pm I turned to DH and said "We have to go NOW!" Of course he wasn't moving fast enough to get everything in the car, ha!
The ride down had to be the worse part! The contractions were horrible!! Every 2-3 minutes! I tried to keep myself occupied during the intense moments: locking and unlocking the doors, rolling down the window, etc. DH later told me later he thought I was going to jump out of the car (which I almost felt like at one point!). We pulled into the wrong parking lot since the signs were a little confusing. To make things worse, the parking lot we were in had no open doors around it! I prayed so hard at that point for God to please help me get inside and DH ran around to locate an unlocked door. He eventually got in and let me in. We hurried to the L & D area and I told him he would have to fill out the paperwork. I sat down in the waiting area only to have another (bad) contraction come on and I yelled for DH. I then got up and found myself a wheel chair and put myself right in it! My doc (who I absolutely love!) came out and jokingly stated "So I heard your doctor told you not to come in." I wanted to laugh but had no energy/ability.
The nurse wheeled me down to the delivery room so I could change and I told DH to call my mom. The doc then came into examine me only to discover I was at 9cm!! :scared1: My first reaction, "Can I still have some drugs?" Next thing we know, there are 10 people in there running around, asking me questions, talking to DH, etc! Pure organized chaos! As the nurse gave me a local anesthesia I was ready to push and get this thing over with.
Long story short (too late, I know), we checked in at 11:55pm and Emma was born at 12:14am, 6lbs 5oz, 19 1/4 inches. She is healthy and perfect and we are so grateful to have her here!
Thank you all so much for the chats over the past 9 months! I hope everyone has a radiant pregnancy!! :goodvibes
