Question for all of you. When did you start buying and registering for baby stuff. I just got the bouncer I ordered from Kohls yesterday and it's the only thing I have so far and I feel like I should have more...

I registered and went hog wild buying stuff just before 17 weeks when I found out he was a boy. His room is done at 29 weeks and I just need to wash everything after the shower. Before I found out the gender I was just buying a lot of books and some DVD's since I wanted to buy stuff but there isn't much in the way of gender neutral clothes etc.

I registered the day we found out the sex! I didn't buy anything except the carseat my DH fell in love with until after my last shower. We wouldn't have bought the carseat, but they discontinued it the day after we registered.

We still have a lot of little things to buy--more onsies/gowns/pacifiers/bottles, but we're waiting to get the 10% off at BRU 2 weeks before I'm due...
I'm glad to hear your internal went well! I was a bit worried about that. I don't want to deal with any pain before labor even starts :rotfl:

Isn't it crazy to think we could have our babies a month from now?! It's all I can think about lately.

That's good Lily is head down! That's definitely one of my worries. With my luck, Jake will be feet first. I keep thinking that since I have had such a yucky pregnancy that I deserve to have an easy birth but that probably won't happen :rotfl: And if I can't have an easy birth then I'm holding out for a really calm, easy baby ;)

That's actually one of the things I talked about with my doctor at my last appointment...I asked her what she thinks the chances are of my having a c-section since I REALLY don't want one if I can avoid it. She said she thinks the chances are really low unless something drastic happens (God forbid). She said if I keep up the low weight gain that will help too. Cause if I suddenly gain a lot of weight in the last month it could make the baby bigger, especially his shoulders and head, so that would make it difficult for him to make it out of the birth canal.

Here's to hoping for a non c-section birth for both of us :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 I'm so totally with you! I want BOTH a easy labor AND an easy baby! :lmao:

BTW Mendy isn't in labor anymore!! :teeth:

Zander is here, but I'll let her tell you all about it...plus I don't know much more than that! lol

I went in and registered the week after we got the confirmation that she was a she. . . I wanted a second opinion. . . although I could have registered for most of my stuff without knowing the sex because I picked a lot of neutral things, in hopes of recycling on future little ones, plus it is just our taste :)

I think I registered about the same time as everyone else...right around 20-24 weeks. Our baby shower invites went out today according to my friend - so we really need to get the babys room ready - floors still need refinished and walls need painted. The first thing we bought was this adorable onsie from DW - is the orange Tigger onsie...

I got the easy pregnancy (I don't count my gallbladder, as it would have happened eventually.. Lucas just sped it up a bit).... but a horrible labor experience... yeah, some people had it worse, but I still cry when I think about how that day turned out... three weeks today (right about now actually) I was meeting the surgical team and answering all their insane questions while on my way to the OR...
anyway. point. (sorry I ramble)...

I wish, with all my might, that both of you have wonderful labor experiences (okay, ALL of you guys)... No more c-sections allowed (unless they're the scheduled kind, of course!) :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

That is my dream! Well a dream is a wish your heart makes and darn it, it better come true! :teeth:

I still feel so bad that you had such a terrible birth experience. I know it was really traumatizing and I hope that if you do decide to have more kids that the next one goes much more smoothly for you

just wanted to check in to see how everyone is doing!! Good Luck to all those about to have their babies :)

Ella will be 3 months in a couple weeks, hard to believe!!

Dream big! Here is some more pixie dust stuff... :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

I think, in hindsight, that it would have been a LOT better if I'd been more with it when the decision was made. 'Cause I'll tell you, when they decide to do one... it's like twenty minutes and then you're in the OR.
DH said the scariest part was when my Dr. started talking about all the risks and complications and stuff. I don't even really remember it, I was too tired and drugged at that point. That might be good, though, as DH said it freaked him out thoroughly because there was no thinking about it, no time to even really let it sink in... just wham! away you go...

C-sections really aren't bad to recover from, I overdid it. I got yelled at thoroughly from my friend's mom who is an OB nurse for doing as much as I did as soon as I did. As soon as I started taking it easy it was just a few days before I started feeling tons better. I feel just like my old self now. With a smaller belly. :rotfl:

Any updates on the situation with the dude-who-shall-not-be-named? Did you figure out the birth certificate thing and whether or not you can put his name on and such? :confused3

How awesome!! We have the Tigger onsie from DW too!! love the little tail on the back, and tigger is my fav!! It was a gift from my brother and is DFi.

Since you mentioned it, I have a Question:
How soon before the shower should you send out the invitations??

Thanks to those who answered, I have a feeling once tomorrow is over I'll be in full on shopping mode. We already have everything picked out and it's mostly gender neutral, but once the gender is known I can shop for bedding and stuff like that.

I have another question though. For those of you who decided to find out the gender of your baby, did you have any inclinations as to if it was going to be a boy or girl? and if you did, were you right?

I kept dreaming of a little girl when I first found out I was pregnant. I am pretty sure I dreamt of her three-four times, and it was always the same little girl. Once I even saw myself breastfeeding her. So in my heart I thought it was a girl, but then I thought maybe my dreams were wishful dreaming. DH is one of three boys, so I thought that it would be a boy. . . especially since most people wanted/guessed girl. BUT it was a she :) I guess my "git" was right - my brain was wrong ;) I have had them look three different ultrasounds, to be sure, and am actually worried for my 4D thinking "is it still a she". I am interested to see if she ends up looking anything like the baby in my dreams, now that would be awesome!

They are having the shower on 8/1 - so these went out a little over a month prior with an RSVP of a like 8 days prior 8/1.

I've been having friends "collect" the tigger onsie in different sizes - I think we have everything exept the 6-9 (which Disney says they don't make which really means they don't want to look for it...) so that might be the baby's growth picture outfit.

Adi I haven't had any dreams yet, but I think it's a girl. Hoping for a boy, but I think it's a girl.

Both of mine went out a month before.

I thought it was a girl from the day I was told the due date...It was primarily based on when they saif I conceived...I had been charting, so I knew the last time we did the deed and based on my conception date it had to be a girl...girl sperm can hang out for up to 5 days--boy sperm only last 1-2. So it was based in science, but from the very beginning I really felt like she was a girl...I do still have a fear that Lily will actually be a boy since the U/s wasn't super clear. If it's a boy he'll be wearing a lot of pink! :lmao:

Piecey - Funny you should mention it, as I was unaware that was the policy of my OB till I was about 32 weeks and I freaked out! I was not pleased as we had only seen the one OB (whom I love, he was the chair of the dept, great guy) and the thought that any random person could deliver my child was sorta scary. We didn't start seeing any of the others though, which I know seems stupid, but turns out it didn't matter cause she was born when my OB was on call anyway. With my son, it was a different dr, but also one I completely trusted, he ran the OB dept in the med school so my husband knew him, etc. This time I was supposed to see that guy (who delivered my son), but now my appt is with another OB instead, but it's a woman who delivered my friend's son so I'm okay with it. After this appt, I'll be back to my regular OB who delivered my daughter and saw me through both pregnancies and after, but he broke his hip this winter and just recently came back to work so I didn't feel like waiting to get an appt with him at the time.

Oh, and the big reason we chose that OB group/hospital is that we lived 2 blocks from there (I actually walked to the hospital when I went into labor) and my husband was in medical school there, so he knew a decent amount of the staff so we felt pretty good about it. And the hospital was brand new (opened August 28, 2002 and my daughter was born 2/26/04) with a great NICU, huge L&D rooms, and all private recovery rooms. There's actually another hospital in DC that is sort of the "baby hospital", but it's really old, you have to share rooms, etc. Plus it was further away. And with this kid, my husband is now on staff at the hospital so I'm hoping I really get some good treatment!

We registered for stuff pretty late, probably about 30 weeks. We knew we were having a girl at 16 weeks, but I was in grad school at the time and trying to get as much done before the baby as possible so registering went on the back burner. We did buy some stuff on our own before then, and my shower wasn't till I was 36 weeks so it was fine for us, but probably not normal.

Kristen - Regarding having a feeling of girl or boy, I was wrong with both of my kids so I guess my answer is no. I never had a huge feeling either way really, but I wanted a boy the 1st time around and wanted a girl the 2nd and got the opposite. This time I really want another girl, but I have a feeling it's a boy.

In case that sounds bad, a boy would be fine too, as I love my son and would love another boy too, but since my son will always be that dreaded 'middle child', I think it would be somewhat better for him if he's the only boy, if that makes sense. My daughter's always got that "first born" slot, this one will always be the baby, and then there's my son who loses his baby role, but can't take on the biggest kid role cause my daughter will be sure and remind him that she's older, etc. So I think having him be the only boy sorta makes his role stand out. But I guess he'll adapt either way. Luckily for me, he LOVES babies, so I'm hoping it's a slightly easier transition that it was for my daughter.

Harleyquinn - Glad your internal exam went well! It really marks the beginning of the end, so exciting! And yes, I have definitely learned my lesson about WDW when 8 weeks. We really had no intention of going there right now, we were just planning on the beach, but we're going on a Disney cruise in August with some friends and the friend and I are going to Florida early to spend a few days at WDW with the kids. I think my husband got jealous and decided to split our trip between the beach and WDW so he got some park days in too. It was probably better than just staying at the beach in that the walking around all morning was a good distractor, but I just felt so crappy, didn't want to ride anything, didn't enjoy the pool in the afternoons, etc. Ugh, and then we ate at Flying Fish one night, the sheer thought had me nearly vomiting. I ordered a steak which actually made me feel slightly better, but just the word fish had me sick. And the ridiculous heat was so not welcome either. We usually finished parks by 1pm, then went to the pool, dinner, bed, but the last night I suggested going to MK after dinner, just cause we had done so little there and I felt guilty for my kids. It was about 10000 degrees and it was 9pm and dark! Ugh, and so humid. Then we got trapped in Spectromagic, man, did I regret that decision later on!

The peach iced tea I just drank has me feeling a little weird, so I guess it's time to lay down and rest before I get my son from camp. Luckily for me, he falls asleep on the way home and naps till it's time to get his sister, so I really am kid-free from 9-3 everyday.

My shower is 8/1 as well!! We will be happily showering together!!

You share rooms at that other hospital?! Really?
I couldn't imagine. I could never get my stinkin' hospital gown to tie correctly and it took me awhile to figure out the best way to get out of bed... while I was learning I showed all my glory to the world quite a few times. :headache:
I would have been pretty irritated if I'd had to share.

We're a smaller hospital, though, I'm sure. There were only 3 other people in the Maternity wing with me... and plenty more rooms than that.

Just wanted to drop in and say that I passed my glucola test!! Unfortunately my iron is low and I have to take 2 iron pills a day. I would think if it were that bad id feel more sluggish (when in reality I have plenty of energy). I guess your body adapts:confused3

We had the most beautiful weather, which almost made it worse. Everything I was feeling made me grumpy and I missed my DH sooo much. But at least I know never to take the chance again.

:woohoo: That's what happened to me too, but I wasn't taking my prenatals since they make me sick, so i just started taking the Flintstones every night. Hopefully that's enough.
