Moms to Be Part 3

Hey ladies!!

I had an appt w/my midwife today...baby has dropped and is engaged into my pelvis. I'm at -1, soft cervix but closed. Getting so close!!!

So I had my weekly appt. Got my shot in the butt. Also did the 1 hr glucose test, hopefully it comes back fine. I have no reason to think that it won't, but I've never taken one before.

My GTT was scheduled for the day that I gave birth last time....

I'm also thinking that I'm going to skip the birthing classes. Those were scheduled to start that night, after I gave birth last time. Couple of reasons, 1) I've done it before & can't really imagine it being any more traumatic than last time; 2) I'd have to pay 3) I'm one of those weird women that is OK watching all the birth shows, I feel like I already know what can go wrong, what sort of interventions might be used, etc. 4) It's 50/50 whether or not I have to have a c-section -- and though I'd like to avoid it, I'm thinking these kids will be uncoopertive & c-section it will be.

I know I haven't hung out on this thread much, but I did want to post an update. My little man arrived on February 25th at 8:09pm weighing 8 lbs even. I went in the night before to be induced, and spent all night and the whole morning in labor. About 1:00 I finally asked for something to take the edge off, and when they put it in, my little man stressed, and they lost his heartbeat. People were running around like crazy, putting some new stuff in, putting me on oxygen, and I completely panicked. They got him back though, and after another 4 hours or so in labor (watching his heart beat like a hawk), and two and 1/2 hours of pushing, my doctor finally determined he wasn't coming out that way, and I had a C-section. He is completely healthy and absolutely perfect (in his mom's eyes, of course).

We named him Patrick John, and we call him PJ. Here are a couple of pictures of him. The first one was taken the day we went home from the hospital (3 days old), and the other two were taken a couple weeks ago.

Congratulations! He is a gorgeous baby!

I never did birthing classes. We live an hour from the hospital, and the thought of 2 hours on the road plus the class time, after working all day, was just too much with the 1st one. It was never mentioned with my other 2 pregnancies.

Thanks for checking in Fishbone. Congrats on your handsome little man!!

So here's my shopping report.

I went to Sears and ended up buying a few regular women's shirts in XL. I can't believe how they are the perfect style for my belly. I stopped at Motherhood and got a cartigan I had my eye on from the website...I loved some of the shirts there, but refused to pay $25+...

Got my 10 for $25 Victoria Secret panties...they had almost nothing...so glad I made it up there today...

My mom stopped at Gymboree bought the cutest little sweaters for Lily and a winter coat for only $10!

Then we went to Kohl's and I wish we had gone there first. They had tons of maternity jeans for clearance...ones with a full panel, but it's really soft and feels great (they were less than $10!)...Plus I got a bunch of shirts...

So I got 11 shirts (some more t-shirt style, some dressy), 1 cardigan, 1 pair of jeans, and 10 pairs of undies for less than $130!

Hopefully I'll be set now! And I should be able to wear just about everything after the pregnancy too...

I ran out of steam or I would've got more at Kohls and we never made it to the thrift stores...maybe next weekend!lol

Can I join the club!?

DH are expecting our first on October 9th. We find out the sex next week!

Welcome and congratulations!!!!!

What a cutie pie...congratulations! Thanks for updating us on your beautiful son.

------

Well, it is official...I feel crappy daily now.
The baby is sitting high and making me lose my breath. I just can not get comfortable most of the time now.

Hope all of you are well and have a wonderful long weekend.

Ann

I'm so excited for you! Like you, I'm actually thinking of leaving my job a little earlier than I had planned. As a part-timer (technically), I believe I have fewer rights than a full-time, salaried employee and since they are getting rid of me at the end of June anyway...maybe I'll just turn in my two weeks notice on Fri. (Not required of me, but considering that I want references from my co-workers, I think it's the right thing to do.) Our two biggest school groups are this coming Fri. and next Tues. so as long as I am there to cover those, I don't feel too bad about being gone afterwards. And I don't think I would look unprofessional if I did so either.

Yeah, I think most of the time part-timers get the short end of the stick. I think that is why companies like to hire lots of part-timers! Seems like it anyway.
My company has two degrees of part-time.. Salary and non-salary. I'm a salaried part-timer and I get all the benefits of a full-timer, but it takes me longer to earn them (for instance, part-timers have to have been with the company 2 years to get maternity, full-timers only a year). I'm "salary" for 25 hours a week so my leave is 5 hours/day instead of 8 and my maternity will be paid at 25/hours a week, too.

I got written off as of next Friday and will be using my sick leave to cover up to the induction. :goodvibes After Lucas is born, I'll most likely turn in my notice. I would definitely turn in the notice, too. You never know when the reference might come in handy and like you said-- you know you're slated to go, might as well make it on YOUR terms, not theirs!!

Thanks Sarah-and I did it. I put in my 2 weeks notice today. My boss was actually very nice about it and I feel like there will be good feelings left on all sides if I go in 2 weeks before it gets too hot outside.

....see what I get for not having internet for days? :lmao:
Go you! :thumbsup2

Basically the last 2 months of my pregnancy I wore the same pants everytime I went out... :lmao:

I'm currently waiting on the dryer right now because both of my wear-able pants were dirty. :rotfl:
Piglet Lucas dropped and now I'm flatter and some of the pants I had before are too BIG... they fall off and I'm constantly pulling them up.
Anyone else have that problem when kiddo dropped? I'm longer and flatter instead of round now. :confused3

Anyone heard from Patsy? She was supposed to schedule her induction this AM. Nothing on Facebook either.

She mentioned something about getting internet shut off at her old house and not getting it at her new house for a couple day's.*

The cable guy just left... I'm an internet addict, I couldn't stay away for long! :rotfl2:

Fishbonet- He's GORGEOUS! :lovestruc Congratulations and thanks so much for sharing him with us!

Welcome Linzybrooke!

As of Thursday, I'm 70% effaced, a fingertip dialated and getting soft. Did I get that right? Or did I say it backwards? I should have asked her to make sure I knew what she was saying, people keep asking me and I can't remember exactly. :headache:

We set an induction date of June 3rd... she doesn't think he'll come any earlier than that, but that is his due date and she doesn't think he'll be too big by then, so it's perfect for both of us. :lovestruc

I really wish I could have posted this earlier but I only found out the DAY my internet got shut off!
Krogers has all their Huggies wipes for 2 for $5 right now. Including the tubs, the resealable plastic bags and the 360ct boxes of refills, too. Diapers are on sale for $8.99 and they're doing a "Spend $15 on Huggies products and get $3 off"

I did this three times- the first time I got their last box of 360 ct. wipe refills (normally $9.99!), 2 of the plastic baggies of wipes- 220ct, I think (normally $6.74) and a package of size 3 jumbo diapers (normally 10.99) for $12!!!! I had a $1.50/coupon for the diapers and then the automatic $3 thing on the register.

The next two times I did it I just got two packages of the jumbo diapers and had a coupon for every package-- it was $13 each time I did this way. Would have done it more but I ran out of coupons and they ran out of wipes :rotfl:

I got rainchecks for the 360 ct box of wipe refills, though. The lady even wrote the $3 off of $15 on it for me, too!!

Hope someone else can take advantage, sorry I'm posting so last minute!

I'm sorry Ann. If it helps, I'm in the same spot. (After four, you would think #5 would drop automatically, but so far...not so much.) DH laughs at me sitting up as straight as I can holding my arms WAY over my head trying to get some air. Don't know if it really helps, but it makes me feel like I'm doing something.

That happens with me every time, and if you read my reply to Ann, all I can say is that I can't WAIT for it to happen again. (Though I did forget about my pants not fitting after that.)

Sarah, I'm glad you were able to find clothes you liked! And it sounds like you got some really great deals :thumbsup2
