Moms to Be Part 3

Ann-I could spit fire right now and have felt that way regularly for about a month. (It starts earlier with each baby.) My DH is a hairy beast too and all my kids have been born with a ton of hair. I realize that it IS a myth, but it's definitely been true for me.

Danny's Mom-Just keep doing "basically nothing" and checking in to let us know you and the babies are OK.

December, good luck tomorrow !!! We will all be right there pushing along with you in spirit.;)

I got a great deal today at Target on Similac Advance. I remembered seeing some on clearance last week, so I took a chance it was still there. Similac changed their packaging and the expiration was good thru 8/2010. The quart size bottle of ready made is normally $5.84...it rang up at $2.92 and I had $2.00 manufacturer coupons...I got 6 bottles for .92 each ...:cool1::cool1:

Ok, anyone else but me having alot of heartburn lately??? DM told me tonight it means the baby is going to have alot of hair. First time I heard this so I thoughtI would share.

wow you did great. and even if you dont use them you can always sell them on craigslist (ive seen this happen a lot!).

December, all my good thoughts and prayers are with you on your big day! You'll do great and I can't wait to see pictures of your new bundle of joy :goodvibes

I'm right there with you sister. I think I said it already in a previous post but there are times when I feel like I could breathe flames cause my heartburn is so bad. Never heard the hair myth...although both me and my sister were born with full heads of hair so it is possible!

Danny's Mom - Glad everything's okay with the little ones! That is scary stuff but I am glad the people at the hospital understand and are telling you to come in anytime you need to. Always better to be safe than sorry!

Good morning all!!

Valerie-Its definitely better to be safe than sorry. I have been at L&D twice with "practice contractions" and/or spotting but even though they turned out to be normal, I'm glad I went because it was peace of mind. Keep taking it easy and let those kids keep baking! :thumbsup2

I have to share a funny (but somewhat irritating) sotry with ya'll. SO you remember me mentioning my "free golf lawn"? Well, apparently someone reported stolen sod in my neighborhood-stolen from the golf course. The Sheriffs showed up (two officers in two separate cars! :scared1:) at my house and started asking me my name, etc. and then proceeded to let me know why they were asking. I quickly informed them of the superintendents name that gave us permission to get the sod and explained that it was sod they were throwing away. They seemed to be satisfied with the info. Then last night I found out that the president of our homeowners assoc. sent out an e-mail talking about the thieves who stole sod from the golf course! :headache:WTH! I don't mind people reporting on suspicious things but they can't report stolen sod unless they owned it-which is the golf courses sod and not my neighborhood. I don't like that there is already an assumption that it is stolen before any facts are checked and why did the sheriff's officers show up asking me questions before they even checked with the golf course to see if any had been stolen?! Anyway, sorry to vent but like I said, I am a little irritated. I plan on calling the president of the assoc. today and telling her to send out a corrected e-mail so all my neighbors don't think we are thieves!!

Oh and my friends have now dubbed DH as the Fairway Bandit!!! LOL

mmkk (Mendy, right?!) that would make me mad, too! I hate when people are given the wrong idea from someone who doesn't have a clue at all!!!

Just got back from my regular appt.. they did Group B Strep and I must say I am very glad they don't do "two swabs" like the girls on whattoexpect.com were saying. A few over there mentioned they do a swab where you go #1 AND #2. My OB did not, which I am grateful for!
They're doing a clean catch culture, though. Is that normal? :confused3 She said the one test they did in-office this morning was negative but that they wanted to "culture" it for 48 hours to double check for any infections or anything. Maybe they're just being extra-super-careful? :confused3:confused:

Apparently, there is no sign whatsoever of my body preparing itself for labor. Dr. wants to give me one more week to see if things happen and said if there is nothing going on next week we'll talk about setting a date where she'll admit me the night before and give me drugs to soften my cervix. If things still aren't progressing, she said we'll have to talk different options (I'm guessing that means a c-section.. ) because it might be Lucas' way of saying that he isn't going to cooperate the natural way.

She said his size is still big but everything is proportional and so we briefly discussed doing things the first week of June, which is when I'm due anyway. She said that his size doesn't worry her anymore so she would even let me go a week past if I wanted to wait and see if my body starts to progress on it's own. I'm thinking not. :rotfl:

So depending on whether or not my body decides to start to prepare and depending on her schedule, Lucas might be born ON his due date.

Just wanted to share. :flower3:

I wanted Golden Grahams and the box totally had a $10 Discover Gift Card in it! :woohoo:

We took advantadge of the 30% off and decided to take one last Disney trip before the baby is born! We wanted one last trip with just the two of us and we never know when we will get to go again with a new baby.

So we are staying at POFQ and it is the first time I haven't stayed at a deluxe resort except when I went with a school group in the 8th grade! So I am a little nervous but I think it will be fine!

I hope it is not too much for me being that far along! But we have been so many times we don't have to be in a huge hurry and we can just relax and EAT!

Have fun! As long as you take it slow & stay hydrated you should be fine. :) I wasn't as far along as you, but I do reccomend renting a scooter if you find that being on your feet is taking it's toll on you. The in park rentals are a bit pricy, but hey you're worth it. :) You can always park them and walk around a given area, Fantasyland, Adventureland, Tomorrowland, etc and just use the scooter to get from here to there.

One thing I did like was getting the Deluxe Dining Plan, so I could plan as many signature meals as I felt like & didn't sweat the cost. We also generally prefer sit down meals, so DxDP was the way to go for us. Sure we had meal credits left over, but we certainly felt like we got our value out of it. I don't know if it's in your budget, but if you're thinking about it.... :goodvibes

piecey- a clean catch will show infection (like UTI, etc). So the clean catch is normal (just a sterile bottle to determine if there is an infection). They can do it in the office and also send it off.

You can take evening primrose oil caplets. It's 3-4 a day and you can swallow them and insert 1 at bed time to dissolve. It softens the cervix and is completely safe to take after 36 weeks. It will not cause your body to do anything it's not ready to do but it will help it along the way. You can take it as early as 34 weeks orally (only 2 though) and I plan to. Lots of women I have heard who take this have faster/easier labors because it helped things along. It might be worth a try.

I honestly don't remember if I had two swabs or not with Madeline but I want to think I only had one too. I didn't have the clean culture done either but that is a doctor preference I am sure. Its never bad to be too careful. And good job on the preggo craving!! See what it gets us! :thumbsup2

IHeartTink-WTG! I am a little jealous though. DH is thinking about taking Madeline over to MK for the day in the next week or so. he did ask me if I wanted to go, and yes I do, but I don't think its a good idea. I'm way too close and have already been experiencing pressure and lots of BH's, so I better stay here and take it easy. Plus it will be good for the two of them to get away together.

Mendy (Yep, you were right Patsy)

The lady that did my massage yesterday was just talking about using primrose! I am thinking of getting some-it can't hurt!

I had not heard of this. I will have to look into it.

I am waiting for my new kitchen table to come today along with 2 new area rugs. The delivery guy should be here any minute. I can't wait.

We got the deluxe plan!!! I am excited!

I have a friend who used evening primrose and said it helped, her body was doing nothing.

My midwife recommends walking, intercourse and using a breastpump if you need to get things going (definitely not all at once though :lmao:).

P.S. Have any of you ever watched House of Babies on Discovery Health?? That's my midwife :)

I had my 34 week check up today. Everything was great. Dr suggest pepcid or zantac for my heartburn. The baby was measuring perfect and her heartbeat was 128. Lowest yet but Dr. said it was great when I inquired. Everything was good with me as well. BP and urine were fine and I lost a pound. I don't know how but I am maintaining my weight still...maybe ice cream is the new diet food.

Be back later, to read what I missed.

I peed in a clean cup when I got there, they didn't say anything was wrong after they did the usual dipstick (ya know, checking for sugar and protein, etc). On my way out, they said they wanted this clean catch (with the special wipey-things being used, like my scientific jargon?) and told me it was negative, too! I'm just trying to figure out if they're not telling me the whole story or if it's normal to do this 'clean catch' or maybe there is just something going around and my Dr. is being extra careful. Just bizarre to me they got negatives in office but still decided to send it to the lab. Me thinks I am not getting told the entire story.

Thanks! I'll definitely look into doing that, I've never heard it before! There is a mother-earthy food place not far from here, I might check them out tomorrow. :goodvibes

My manager is shocked by what my Dr. said, but I'm not that surprised. I've not even had one episode of braxton hicks, not one contraction, etc. Lucas is just comfy in there. The only male co-worker at work today told me to be careful how I raise Lucas because this might be a sign he won't want to move out when he's an adult either. :rotfl:
I'm trying not to get irritated at my asst. manager because she decided TODAY to fly to Oregon on business (purely her choice) and she is the ONLY full-time worker we have... so that means the rest of us (all part-time) will have to cover what she usually works and she is going May 26-June 2nd. The three of us left are 25/hrs a week and we're open 55 hours/week. There has to be at least 2 of us there at all times and if there are only two, we can't take a lunch. I'm not seeing how this is going to work so....
I'm trying to figure out the nicest way of saying I am NOT going to work long hours the week before I am due, what are they thinking?!

Preggo brain has me in it's hold...
DH curled up to me in bed yesterday and said "What do you want to do Friday? Anything you want. Your choice."
I had to ask him what I did to deserve this new attitude and he stared at me and said "It's our first anniversary."... oh. right. i knew that. :headache:

You can try red raspberry leaf tea too to help get things going... I think it is supposed to make your contractions stronger?? Not sure exactly, but I used that and the primrose oil and was still a week late. According to my midwives, it is quite common for first babies to be 7-10 days late!

I am pretty sure it is supposed to make your uterus contract - and that is supposed to make it kick start you.

I see what you are saying. A "clean cup" and a "sterile cup" are different though. A "clean cup" is used for reg. peeing during each visit. The sterile cup is to check for other things, making sure they are right because the cup is sterile and you are clean "front to back". They can get see some findings in the office, but for the best look they have to send it off to the lab. I hope that makes sense. I used to work at my office-- didnt fool much with OB, but i do know a little about a clean catch. Id say your doctor probably is looking for something, and honestly- i doubt she does that with everyone at this stage. Have you complained of anything recently? Or have any special issues in this preg? She may have seen something in your pee when you pee'd at the beginning of the visit, although they dont normally check for a whole lot then.:confused3 The good thing is that they arent telling you anything is wrong (and if something was, im sure they would tell you)-- so hopefully its just a safety precaution and nothing to worry about :)

Gallbladder has been my only issue.

I thought it was weird. I asked the nurse what they were testing for, after she told me it was negative and they were still sending it to the lab, and she goes 'Oh, you know, infection. Sometimes the bacteria needs 48 hours to grow'

Just weird to me. She said they'll call me Monday, probably, with results.
The Dr.'s/surgeon I saw did warn me that I could get sepsis with my gallbladder being so infected and having stones. Ultrasound tech mentioned, too, that since Lucas is taking up all my room he's probably adding pressure against my gallbladder.
Would think that would be a blood test, though, not urine. Oh well. Who knows.
