Moms to Be Part 3

My SIL was induced for her 3rd kid in April and she had to go to the hospital at 11pm. I thought that was bad till she told me with her 2nd she had to go in at 3am! So glad I don't live near her cause I would not have wanted a 3am induction. What is the point of that? Our hospital has you come in at 6pm for an induction and you get the Cervidil then no pitocin till the morning.

Pooh - The sickness you are describing is what I have now, without the progesterone shots. It is miserable. I think that's why I am so fearful cause the idea of being sicker than I am is scary.

Also the spotting you described was what I got, and that only started about 1.5 years ago and this baby was much harder to conceive than our 1st 2, when I never had spotting.

I am counting down the minutes till my kid's friend leaves cause I am so not feeling well at all.

Well I've pretty much been stuck at 3-4 cm for 2 weeks but my cervix is still pretty thick according to doctor. So it's possible he may come before then cause she said he's head down and positioned perfectly. He's just being stubborn! I'm kinda hoping he'll come before the induction but if not, oh well.

And yeah, what's up with that?? I didn't realize hers was at 10 a.m. I'm jealous! I don't want to be there that early :rotfl:

Hmm.. we chatted on Facebook a few nights, that must be when she told me. Either that or I'm psychic. ;) Or delusional...

Anyway-- I went in at 5am because I think my OB planned on delivering me after office hours. Her practice is in the hospital so when she got there before her office opened, I was hooked up and had been on Pitocin awhile so she broke my water. Then she came back at lunch and again after the office closed and stayed with me for the next 6 hours until I had the c-section... :rolleyes1 I'm glad she stayed but I still feed bad that I had to have totally ruined her night. :rotfl:

How exciting Veronica! I'll hope he comes out in the next week so you're not thrilled about the induction, but I agree that I would rather an induction with my own dr than take my chances with whomever.

My daughter has a friend over and not only are they making ridiculously annoying noises upstairs, but they are mean to my son. I truly hate playdates because I spend hours dealing with my son being excluded and crying. Now I get that he's annoying and I wouldn't want to play with him either if I were a 5yo girl, but they'll tease him by calling him to play, then chasing him away when he joins them. And it really irks me cause my daughter is never like that when she's alone with him, she's always begging him to play with her, so I am not happy with the "tease my little brother to be cool" act.
Ummm, have you considered punishing her?

Ummm, have you considered punishing her?

She does get punished each time, but it has 0 effect. She has even had playdates cancelled and had friends leave early as a result, but again, no effect. Same thing happens everytime.

Any news from Sarah???

I am starting to feel thankful that my all-day sickness wasn't as bad compared to some of your stories. So sorry you are going through so much ladies!! I was nauseous all the time and could barely eat, but thankfully I didn't throw up every day (just felt like I needed to). Thankfully that went away at 14 weeks.

Veronica - Good luck - try all the natural stuff you can to get things going - pineapple, walking, do you have a breast pump - nipp1e stimulation is supposed to get contractions going. . . . etc. Ask if you want more ideas :)

Melessa - Hope things get going for you too! Did you already have your Youth Conference?? Is it time for the pineapple yet :)

Justhat - I will be making the shirt today!! Took me a while to piece together all the letters for the designs wednesday. . . but I will be making it today, so if you would like to PM me your address to send it to, hopefully I can take it to the post office tomorrow :)

28 week appointment today!!

Had my glucose test today - and I PASSED - WOO HOO!!

Baby's heart rate was good, in the 140's. The student midwife has some issues catching her, she kept moving away from the Doppler, lol. The head midwife did it immediately though.

Her head is down, had been for a few weeks now, I hope she stays that way. I have been somewhat concerned about that because I was transverse in my mom - and they turned me manually many times and apparently I kept going back to the same position. . .sorry mom!

I am starting appointments every two weeks now - :scared1: I cannot believe it! I feel like I JUST started going there at 8 weeks, and now here I am 20 weeks later. . . wow. I cannot wait to have my little girl in my arms, but it is a conflicted feeling - I want her here already but am also scared of the getting her here part ;) I have had a good pregnancy so far, so I know I should enjoy that while it lasts. . . . thanks for reading all my rambling, lol!

We got the gym decorated this morning and I'm skipping (with permission) all the activities at the local park tonight. The big luau is tomorrow and I will start with the pinepple then. ;)

I'm here and so is she!

Lilliana Elizabeth was born at 3:02 am on 7/23/09. Dh is in the shower, and then we'll download some pics. 8 lbs 4 oz, 21 inches.

Here's the story. They started my pitocen at 11am. The nurse that was with me was pretty obviously pissy about the number of inductions my Dr's office does and right off the bat she dropped little things that made my experience rougher, but we can discuss that later. Anyway, one of the other dr's broke my water at 12:30 to spead things along...I was a little afraid of this, but it wasn't any worse than my drs rough exam a couple of weeks ago. about 2:30 they asked if it was okay if they started my epidural since they were about to deliver 3 other babies (all there after me :p). At this point i was only 2.5 Cm, and the contractions were getting strong, so I agreed, hoping it wasn't too early. To cut this short 10 hours later, I was 5 cm, 95% effaced and she was 0 station...not a lot of progress and I was getting really worried about c-section. Stupid me started to notice the epi was wearing off, but I didn't say anything since I thought it could be the contractions were just getting stronger and I wasn't really sure if it was REALLy wearing off(it was). so at 2:30am, it started really getting to be about the level it was when I agreed to the sucker in the first place. I told the nurse (different, awesome one) and she said that I should have mentioned something way sooner and they might have to completely redo it--epid SHOULDN'T wear off unless something is wrong. But she said, let's just check you first. And then DH woke up to hearing her tell me, "honey I think it's time to push!" She got my dr and sure enough it was time. 30 minutes later Lily entered the world with her daddy's huge head. :teeth:

I felt a lot more than I thought I wanted to, but luckily there was enough juice left in the epi to take a very large part of the edge off. It wasn't really that bad until it was time to stictch me up and even that wasn't too bad. I really think without the wearing off of the epi, the pushing would have been way harder and taken me a lot longer. For me it wasn't the like best experience ever like some people say, but it was pretty close to as good of a birth as you can have.

I did tear, but not too terribly...so far the whole down there stuff isn't horrible, but I hope it'll heal quickly. And i ended up with one whole stupid hemorriod, which I think hurts worse than the stiches, but it's bearable too.

Now onto the fun stuff. My new DD is so adorable and super sweet at least so far. :) All the nurses wanted to keep her. We are trying to bf, but she is on the verge of jaundice, so I hope that doesn't stop it. We have to go to the dr at 9 tomorrow.

Our cats are EXTREMELY curious right now. I have so much I want to tell you guys but I have a LOT to do, so I'll be back later...gonna post pics on facebook...

Welcome to the world Princess Lilliana. I love the socks! I saw some at the Disney store that I want to get my Lilliana.

Congats!!! She is adorable.

Congrats to you and your DH !!!! The baby is a beauty, I love the hair & chubby kissable cheeks!

Sarah congratulations!!! I am so so happy for you! And baby Lily is gorgeous just as I knew she would be :goodvibes

I am glad to hear you had a good labor overall (minus the tearing and the mean nurse in the beginning). I am hoping mine will go well too, especially since I know I'm getting induced now. Again, so happy for you and your new little family. And seeing Lily makes me so excited knowing I'll be seeing Jake in just a week!

Adi, thanks for the advice :) I'm definitely going to try some stuff to get things going naturally. I don't have a breast pump yet...maybe I'll buy one of the cheapy ones just for that purpose :rotfl:

She's so cute Sarah! And it sounds like you had a pretty nice birth experience overall. I'm glad it worked out so well for you, other than the first crazy nurse anyway. I don't get some people, but glad your actual delivery nurse was much better.

I hope the jaundice resolves quickly for you. FWIW, both my kids were jaundiced, my son was so bad he had to stay longer in the hospital under the lights and was almost readmitted to the hospital a few days after we took him home. But I still breastfed both kids so you should be fine. Breastmilk can make the jaundice stay around longer, but as long as she's pooping frequently you should be okay. I did opt to supplement with my son for a few days, but it made absolutely no difference in is case so I stopped.

I'm off to update the list, and I have to add that I can actually remember Lily's birth stats cause both of my kids were exactly the same size as Lily.

Veronica - You could try nipple shields (the kind for flat/inverted nipples) if you don't want to buy a pump. They are pretty cheap and work on the same idea. I never tried it, but my friend's dr suggested it for her and it seemed to work out cause she went into labor after a couple of days.

Oh, I hadn't heard that. I think I may have actually gotten some of those from a friend at my baby shower...I could be mistaken though. Thanks for the idea!

ETA: Okay, I had a major brain fart here. I didn't get nipple shields at my shower, they were nursing pads. LOL. Duh moment.

Sarah!! Congratulations!!

(odd question, but did you have a catheter with your epidural? (I don't mean a catheter for going to pee, I had one that was connected to my epidural where they reinjected drugs into the catheter line, I can't imagine why they'd have to redo it! Everywhere is so different!!) And I told you not to be stupid like me and speak up if you thought it was wearing off! :rotfl:

I'm so happy for you guys, she's gorgeous!!
