Mom's surgery & living far away...

My Mom (82) had a "warning heart attack" Tuesday night and will be having a heart cath done with possible stents today. It's so hard to live away from family!!!!! I could have driven there but by the time I would have gotten there it might have been done. My Mom didn't want me to go there. There were a few other things too and after talking to my older sister she convinced me to stay home and sit by the phone. I talked to Mom on the phone and she's feeling pretty good and wants to go home.
So I think I'll play Zoo Tycoon today to help pass the time. That's always good for wasting a few hours.
We've lived away from family for over 15 years but it suddenly gets very lonely when you're smacked in the face by a parent's mortality.

I am sending some PD for your Mom and her doctors. It is hard to be far away at times like these.

Ann, I am in the same boat as you, my mom last week had her cath done, and unfortunatly it is not good. She will have open heart done on the 25th, I will travel to New Orleans to be with her a few days. I can only stay a few days due to my husband being in the military and being in a school he can't get out of. I hope all is well with your mom and PD being sent your way.
