Moms Panel Results!?

HI All,

Congrats to all that have made the panel! It sounds so exciting, and I am jealous (in a good way!) of you all.

I got the dreaded call about 4:30 yesterday as well... but it ended up not being a total loss - I was asked to be an "alternate" in case someone can't go through and fulfill their position for the 6 months...

I was too excited to ask what that meant exactly... but from reading on other forums I hear that 4 "alternates" were picked. Did anyone else here get asked to be an alternate?

Congrats again to you all, and I'm glad I found you all when i googled the mom's panel!

This is the first I have heard of that. But congrats!!! I guess they really will call you before they call us Have you been able to find out who the other 6 are?

I have seen one other person, on another board, post about being an alternate, but that's all I've heard so far!

I can't imagine getting called to join the panel right now -- everyone is soooo excited to have made the panel, and its a once-in-a-lifetime magic experience! Who'd give that up!! But... maybe I should start that exercise program now

It wouldn't hurt anything. Disney loves to excite people and you never know what they might do.

Welcome PiratePrincessGirl to our family! I am so sorry! I know it is a blow but join us...there is great support here! It has made me feel better that there are parents that feel the same way I do! This has been great therapy!

Okay...I am going to change the subject a little...I have a question. Everytime we go to WDW, I try to do something different. I am trying to do something very educational this trip. I got the All Ears Newsletter & I purchased the "Guide to the Magic for Kids". It is a large book, but you can journal, obtain Passport stamps from the countries, autographs, etc. My oldest is really into this kind of thing. I was wondering if anyone has purchased this book and what they thought of it. We have done so many different types of autograph books, but I thought this would be really cool for us to look at down the road. Thoughts?

Hey Ya'll what does everyone do with their pets while they are gone. This is our first time to travel since we have gotten our little schnauzer so we have hired a house sitter to stay here with the dog and watch over the house while we are gone. Anyone else do this? We thought about boarding her, but just thinking of her in a cage all day made me sad. This way she has someone to play with plus we have someone to water the plants, check the mail, and keep our house company. Am I totally crazy or what?

Well I haven't been posting because I've been spending quality time with my kids. I was too nervous and distracted while waiting yesterday, so I had some making up to do!

I've also been thinking (obsessing) about all those pictures they said they'd be taking...that makes me nervous.

This is the first I heard of alternates also, but I'm guessing we've had some lurkers reading and not posting, so maybe they will come out and we'll hear from more people now. We've not been told anything about posting here...but we haven't heard from legal yet either. Maybe they will address that then.

I plan to relax tonight by planning out my kids' Thanksgiving surprise package, the one that will tell them we are going to Disney

This may be better on another board, but what are you putting in this? We did a surprise trip last year and although I can't hold off that long for another, we will tell the boys at Christmas time for our Feb trip...

We have someone house sit as well. It makes it so much easier on all of us! Especially the pets and my mind!

Chiming in here....

We always use a petsitter. Some of our friends have a teenager and live across the street.

We pay him $15/day (much, much, much cheaper than a petsitter service), and I do it for the same reasons as Julie above.

I couldn't bare the thought of my pets in a cage all day at the vets or whereever. This way, they are home in their own environment. Our p.s. comes over 2-3 times a day to let them out, feed them, and play with them.

It's a good deal for us (people we know in our home and saves money), and it's a good deal or the teenager (quick, easy money)!

The key is finding a family w/teenagers or kids that you trust!

Nope, we don't get to go to training in December... maybe if someone drops out???

I was asked (or maybe I was told...it's a little foggy now), that I am an alternate and that they will keep my number on file. I don't want to get my hopes up, so I am assuming that the 14 that did not make the panel are all considered alternates. They went through a little speil that sounded a lot like the rejection letter that was sent out during round one.

No, I did get the "Semi-Finalist" certificate they sent after round one. I haven't had any email correspondence since they told me I made it to the phone interview round.

Our pets are guinea pigs, so while they require care, it's not the same level of care that a dog requires. We always just have someone come in once a day to fill up the food dish and water bottles, give them fresh veggies, and make sure they are okay.

I just noticed today that Spash Mountain is scheduled for refurbishment while we will be there in Feb. It is listed closed through the 15th and we come home on the 12th. Anyone want to wager the chances it might reopen before we head home?

In my recent experiences, we have not been lucky enough to have any of the refurbs open early so we could experience them! So, don't get your hopes up! Just plan another trip when it is open!

By the way, I got my parting gift. It is so kind and beautiful! I really wish that I could figure out how to post a picture!

Thanks for the information. It looks like DD-5 might have to wait even longer to get on Splash as this is her first trip where she is 40". BTMR will save the day over there I am sure.

About posting the picture.... One way to do it is to post your picture on a website and then you can put the URL where your picture is inside

tags in your text. Can you get the picture on the web?
