Moms Panel Results!?

Did you who did not make it get the post it note, and list maker we got at the end of round 2?
PiratePrincessGirl, you should have joined us sooner, this has been great therapy. Welcome!!

Welcome PiratePrincessGirl to our family! I am so sorry! I know it is a blow but join us...there is great support here! It has made me feel better that there are parents that feel the same way I do! This has been great therapy!

Okay...I am going to change the subject a little...I have a question. Everytime we go to WDW, I try to do something different. I am trying to do something very educational this trip. I got the All Ears Newsletter & I purchased the "Guide to the Magic for Kids". It is a large book, but you can journal, obtain Passport stamps from the countries, autographs, etc. My oldest is really into this kind of thing. I was wondering if anyone has purchased this book and what they thought of it. We have done so many different types of autograph books, but I thought this would be really cool for us to look at down the road. Thoughts?

If anyone hasn't noticed, my computers keys aren't working properly. My 4 year old popped some of the keys off and I don't think things are right!

Here we go...calling DELL!

I am really sad for all of this to end. I really look forward to this thread. It was a very exciting time!

Leslie,
I'm not going anywhere!!!

I have not used this book, but our girls love to have their names written in all the differnt languages while we are in Epcot.

Leslie thanks for mentioning the book. I had never seen that one before. I just checked it out on Amazon and I think it might be a great idea for my ds. How many pages would you say are for journaling, stamps, & autographs vs. park info? Is it heavy? I also saw the "Guide to the Magic Walt Disney World Resort Journal" and I think I will be getting that for myself. I always intend on writing everything down while in WDW but never get the chance. I think the journal maybe just the help I need.

I was a semi-finalist as well, and got the dreaded call yesterday afternoon that I didn't make the cut. :sad1:

Thankfully I am at WDW right now (I was out eating Mickey Bars with my husband & kids at OKW when I got the call). So the pixie dust here isn't allowing me to be too sad! Although my DS2 threw up this morning, and is now sleeping :scared:

Congrats to the panelists! What an adventure it will be for you!!

Marleen and Josh, You guys did great, I know you will be second guessing things the next couple of days. You did your best and you were yourself, that is what matters most. I don't think anyone would want you to change that. Everyone else loves you just the way you are. Like I said before all of this was only a contest and who are we to say just what they were looking for. We all made it pretty darn far, after all they said the first rejection e-mail was sent to over 9k. How amazing is that, not to mention we made some great friends along the way. That alone has been worth it to me!!!!!
Julie

EXTREMELY well said, Julie!

Hi everyone from a sometime lurker of this thread and an all the time fan of the boards! :surfweb:

Well, sadly I didn't make it onto the panel! :sad2: After a week's wait, I got my phone call last night with the bad news. They were very nice and very friendly in relaying their decision, and the whole experience was great throughout.

It would have been nice though to have received some sort of consolation prize for all the time us non-winners spent with the earlier 3 rounds - writing, preparing, and stressing! Just some sort of gesture of appreciation would have made the blow a little less painful. I'm glad to have made it as far as I did, and congratulations are certainly due to all the panelists!

Hi PiratePrincessGirl, welcome to the DIS! Congratulations on making it to round 3, that in itself is a great accomplishment!

My kids enjoy just talking to the CM's from the different countries in Epcot. On one of our trips, I think when my oldest DS was 11, he went on the internet and looked up how to say hello and goodbye in the different languages so he could say that to the CM's he encountered. He had a great time doing that and the CM's really make a big deal out of it. It was a conversation starter.

Another time we went he picked an animal that we saw on the safari at AK and wrote a report on it when we got back. This was his teacher's suggestion as they were going to be doing animal reports shortly after we got back and she thought it would be neat for him to have seen the animal not just in a picture, but to actually have seen it live. Even though he only had to do one for school, he ended up looking up things about other animals from the safari, so that was pretty educational.

WDW is full of educational experiences that are fun at the same time!

I'm sorry you didn't make the panel, but you must feel great knowing you made it so far! Enjoy the rest of your trip and I hope your little guy feels better soon!

I hope your little man gets better soon. I must say we have had our share of sickness while at WDW. One year our girls took turns throwing up. After our honeymoon I broke out with the chicken pox 2wks after our return. HMMM wonder where I got them

Awww... I hope your ds starts feeling better soon. My dd got sick at WDW when she was 19 months. She had a yucky cold and wanted to sleep. We kept her out of the parks for a day and then she was recharged enough to go the next day.:)

Thanks everyone! We'll lay low here today and see how he feels tomorrow. No fever thankfully, so hopefully some good rest will help.

That would be best IMO. Just let his tummy rest, I always get worried and try to make them eat or drink too soon. I think after the 3rd I have finally figured this out. What can I say some people are just slower than others.:lmao:

Good morning everyone! I was falling asleep at my computer last night, so I didn't stay up to see who made it, but I have now so...
Congrats to Heather, Erin, Kim, Bret, ibelieveindreams and my3boys :cheer2: :cheer2

I hope that you panelist will be able to post here about your journey. I would love to come along for the ride. Have they told you if you will have to keep quiet about everything? If not maybe we could start a new thread, something like Adventures of the "Moms" Panel.:)

Yes, please do not leave us hanging... If you DO create a new thread, make sure you give us a link in this one. I would LOVE to be able to follow your stories! Thanks!

Hey Ya'll what does everyone do with their pets while they are gone. This is our first time to travel since we have gotten our little schnauzer so we have hired a house sitter to stay here with the dog and watch over the house while we are gone. Anyone else do this? We thought about boarding her, but just thinking of her in a cage all day made me sad. This way she has someone to play with plus we have someone to water the plants, check the mail, and keep our house company. Am I totally crazy or what?
Julie

HI All,

Congrats to all that have made the panel! It sounds so exciting, and I am jealous (in a good way!) of you all.

I got the dreaded call about 4:30 yesterday as well... but it ended up not being a total loss - I was asked to be an "alternate" in case someone can't go through and fulfill their position for the 6 months...

I was too excited to ask what that meant exactly... but from reading on other forums I hear that 4 "alternates" were picked. Did anyone else here get asked to be an alternate?

Congrats again to you all, and I'm glad I found you all when i googled the mom's panel!
