We've moved and at my dd10's old skating club (small- only 60 members) the girls often wore sweat pants or even jeans to practice. Her new club is 200 members and I've been told "No one wears jeans or sweats. The girls ALL wear skating dresses to practice. Or they MIGHT wear black stretch leggings."
So what I need is the names of some reputable on-line places to get a skating dress or two. Also, if you could tell me if their sizes run big or small I'd appreciate it!!
Thanks so much!!!

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Anybody else?

Both of my daughters skate competitively and I've actually had much better luck buying dresses at the pro shops at various rinks. My son plays travel hockey, so we are always at some out of town rink or another. I recently bought two $130 skating dresses for $29.99 each on clearance.

Also, if you have a dance shop nearby, try that. Our local one sells a few skating dresses, but the owner will also special order out of a catalog for you if you see someting you like.

I have bought on-line in the past, and I find the quality to be the same or maybe even a little worse in some instances.

A friend of ours buys her daughter's skating dresses off of ebay all the time. She finds new ones, as well as custom made ones that have only been worn once. It might be worth a try.

My girls are skaters and our club allows any comfortable attire but some of the coaches prefer the skating attire. I know my girls coaches like to see the legs so they "encourage" a skating skirt, dress or even shorts, capri's or sweats ok for some sessons.

Our local skate shop has cute practice skirts, my 9yo prefers these over the dress. You can also check around to some of the dance shops in your area, there is one near us that has great prices on practice dresses and even tights.

Google - "Figure Skating Dresses"

I've had luck with a couple of the sites that come up.

A word about wearing jeans or sweats - make sure they are tight around the ankle area. The back of the blade can get caught in the pant leg.......and splat........far worse than "toe pick".
I learned that from experience!

At my daugher's skating club they have to wear black pants or a dress or skirt with a black top or jacket. try RainboSports.com our club also has used equipment sales where you can find dresses sometime, and also try the dance wear shops in your area. good luck.:earsgirl:
