Mom's... Morning Sickness Help... PLEASE!!!

Killing time and read this thread.

All I have to say is going thru weeks of morning sickness and the pain of child birth, then turning around and saying let's do it again....well that takes guts.

I vomited 24 hours a day - had to be on home IV for fluids and nutrition :sad2:. I literally vomited every few minutes. It was horrendous and caused lots of other symptoms. I couldn't work or do anything else. Nobody understood. People thought I was being lazy - they would tell me how they went to work and threw up in the trash can. It just wasn't like that for me.

It went away at 5 months and I loved being pregnant after that. It used to make me mad when people complained about stretch marks and getting "fat." I would have given anything to have been just a little less sick.

When I first started being able to eat and drink again, lemonade sometimes made me feel better - both homemade and instant.

Sorry I went off on my own tangent - 16 years later and I think its the first time I was able to vent :goodvibes. I have two wonderful adopted kids in addition to my biological child - and have no complaints now!

It's called Diclectin, and there are a few other active ingredients in it, according to the pharmacist who helped me.

I was on it for both pregnancies, and it did absolutely nothing. If you don't vomit, which I don't, then it really doesn't work.

Best of luck, Tiger[/]
I took Diclectin for both of my pregnancies and it worked awesome for me. I started on it when the morning (all day for me ) sickness started and it was amazing how much better I felt, I tried to go off it a few times in my second and third trimester thinking that I had passed the sickness stage only to have to go right back on it because I was one of the lucky few that has the morning sickness for my ENTIRE pregnancies LOL.

I was sick for my entire pregnancy. I got vertigo at about 6 months and had to go to the hospital for the day. I weighed the same the day I gave birth as I did when I found out I was pregnant.

All I ate nearly the entire time was hard boiled eggs and jello.

But I'd had two miscarriages before this pregnancy, and with all the sickness, I knew my hormones were really riled up in there. It gave me a lot of hope. He turned out perfect.

My OB had a pharmacy mix it up special for me when I was pregnant with my first DD. It didn't do anything for me at all.

Acupuncture

Tried that with 2nd DD. It helped for about an hour afterwards. I actually threw up during the procedure - NOT FUN - but was able to eat a light meal after that and keep it down for an hour (which was quite a feat at the time). The pain wasn't worth it to me for the tiny bit of relief.

With my first pregnancy I had morning and afternoon and evening sickness for 9 months.
2nd pregnancy only had it for 6 months.

With my DD, I had a horrible time keeping anything down. In the end I went to the ER. The minute they hooked me up and put me on an IV to hydrate I felt 100% better.

I did all the tricks, but it really came down to the fact that I was dehydrated. So I would recommend getting a good amount of fluid into your system and make sure you are hydrated. After that, work on the crackers, etc.

Every person is different, and really the best thing you can do is to work closely with your Dr. I know you are early and may not even have had an appt. If not, make sure to make one soon and don't worry about calling and asking questions.

Hope you feel better soon.

My Dr would not give me any meds to deal with morning sickness (WHY do they still call it that??) He would just tell me to drink gatorade or ensure if I really couldn't get keep anything down. I Have never felt so badly in my whole life! It lasted 10 weeks!

Pretzels sticks and chocolate shakes were pretty much the only things I sustained on. I would think I found something but it would last 2 days (artichoke dip!) and then turn on me!

Sorry you are dealing with this OP!! Just one of those things we have to get through!

With my first pregnancy, I only had pregnancy sickness for 6 weeks. It was not bad at all. I would snack on raisins and that seemed to help. Baby #2 was a whole other story. I started to feel sick even before I missed my period. It didn't stop until a few days after I gave birth. It was horrible! I was queezy all day long, every day. I even ended up in the hospital at five months because I was vomiting so much that I guess it triggered contractions. Then those shots they give to stop contractions made me vomit more. It was horrible. But the shots did stop the contractions, and I was able to go home the next day! I was given anti nausea meds, but really tried not to take them unless I had to. There were times at work when I just wanted to cry though.

Now, for remedies, I tried them all. I had sea bands on both wrists, tried ginger, etc. I found that drinking water and eating light snacks so my stomach was never empty helped. The good news is that I delivered a very healthy 8lb 13oz baby!

Good luck and hang in there. It will pass eventually!

Not everyone had morning sickness. :)

Just wanted to pop in and see if you have found anything that works for you.. I hope you have! If not, could you move the date of your doctor's appt. to before Christmas? Others might cancel because they're too busy with last minute preparations..

Sure hope you're feeling better..

My advice would be to go to the bookstore and buy "What to expect when you're expecting" It has great info. While these threads are great it might save you time. Also joint the bump. There is some great info there for first time moms and you can talk to people going through what you're going through currently. It's nice to know you're not the only one having the COMMON pregnancy issues. Just wait till you have indigestion/ heartburn and extreme swelling. GOOD LUCK! Try not to stress out and worry.
