More like, ALL DAY sickness. It started three days ago, but is getting worse. I fear tomorrow...

All I can stomach is bread (toast, breadsticks) and broth-type soup. Everything else makes me nauseous.

Any good remedies? Tips? Advice?

They say this lasts until 14 WEEKS!?!? I'm only at week SIX!

(And YES, I HAVE joined a pregnancy message board... They aren't much help, and Google is offering the same advice on every page. I'm looking for personal advice ;))

Congrats!

I think morning sickness remedies are different for everyone. Brushing my teeth used to make me puke. You can imagine my dilemma - after puking I'd need to brush my teeth again! Cycle repeat.

Cinnamon gum used to help me for whatever reason. There are some suckers called 'preggo pops' at Babies R Us that are supposed to help a bunch although I've never tried them.

good luck!

Girl I feel your pain! I'm in the same boat-- 8 weeks now. My Dr just gave me Zofran. I notice it is not bad if I sleep in and get rest. But any day I have to get up for work is horrible!

I'm 12 weeks now and have been fighting it since week 5! What's helped me the most are Sea-Bands. They look like sweat bands for your wrists with a marble attached. Also anything Ginger. Will post more later. :)

Ugh. I had that all day sickness with both my boys. At least with Dd I could throw up and get on with my day. With the boys it was like terminal car sickness. I lived on rice, saltines and sliced cheese. And it had to be one particular brand of cheese, too. :sad2: some people swear by popcorn and ginger ale. You could try it. Nothing I tried ever helped. In fact, i lost 10-lbs with DS24 and 15-lbs with Christian (I eventually did gain 6-lbs back).

Eh, I don't have much to offer other than you will find out which foods taste better than others coming back up ;). I found sucking on mints helped marginally, as well as avoiding an empty stomach by nibbling something almost all day.

I threw up at least five times every single day of my first trimesters, and I lost 15 lbs between week 6 and week 14 both times. On a positive note, I had very few problems throughout my second and third trimesters, so there is hope! It passes before you know it, and is definitely worth it in the end.

It really is different for every person. But, you asked, so here you go!

I has all day sickness with the twins, it was horrible. I lived on crunchy lettuce, bubbly water, sour lemonade, lemon drops, sour Jolly Ranchers and the occasional smoothie for like 18 weeks. I lost about 15 lbs, but gained it back and then some by the end!

All I can say is try to make the few calories you do eat count. Fat and protein are what the baby needs, so do what you can to get those down. My doctor also offered Zofran, which like an idiot, I turned down. I would have been better off to take it.

It may sound strange but the only thing that kept me for being sick everyday of my 1st pregnacy was hot chocolate.

Ita!:thumbsup2

Cucumbers aren't too bad "coming back up"...I found baked potato was ok for me too.

Grapefruit juice was the absolute worst, though! Major burn!

For now, just the fact that you are able to keep anything down, even if it's just bread and broth, is good though. :)
I had hypermesis gravidarum with my second child, and wasn't able to keep anything down, not even water, and had to be hospitalized for dehydration.

Are you able to keep other liquids down, in addition to the broth? That is very important. If it gets to the point where you aren't keep liquids down, you should call your doctor and maybe even go to the ER if you can't get ahold of the doctor promptly.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I know it's rough now, but this will all be worth it when you're holding that little babe in your arms!

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I had it bad with my DS. Someone suggested the "syrup" from peaches in heavy syrup and it tasted pretty good either cold or room temp though I preferred it very cold.

Good luck. For some reason the morning sickness thing is different in different pregnancies. With my DS I was sick all day. With the miscarriages I had I was only sick for a bit in the morning. Unfortunately, my all-day sickness with DS lasted until about a week before I delivered. The great thing was that after I had him, I was so hungry and I could eat anything!

Yes, I have the terminal car sickness. Blah. I haven't tried Ginger Ale yet... I might have to now. And those Ginger candies. I don't know if throwing up would be better LOL but this sucks!

I'm going to try and make it until my appointment on the 28th, but I will take whatever meds I can get!

Oh God, I hope mine doesn't last that long!!! I'm going to try peaches, thanks!

I was sick almost until the end. I couldn't even watch TV because seeing food commercials would make me hurl. I lived on watermelon and fruity pebbles. Watermelon didn't make me *quite* as sick and gave me the fluid I needed. Fruity pebbles? Can't explain that one but it made me less sick than other foods. Find what works for you and stock up! And hang in there... it's worth it. :goodvibes

I do remember that Ginger Ale (flattened) and peppermint candy also helped.

I took my pre-natal vitamins as close to bedtime as possible with the hope that I'd fall asleep immediately and not get up to be sick. Didn't work too often. :rolleyes1 But I tried as best as I could to hold them down.

Be careful when you take your vitamins. They might be a big trigger of your nausea! Even today, when I smell a vitamin, I gag.

A good friend told me a little tip when I got pregnant that she used..Before you get out of bed in the morning, take 4-5 whole wheat ritz crackers and eat them in bed lying down. After finishing them, wait a minute or two and then get out of bed. She said her ob/gyn said the whole wheat crackers on an empty stomach counteracted the morning sickness. I thought it was a load of bull, but it worked! No morning sickness! It's worth a try. It got to the point that my husband woke up to the sound of me crunching and didn't need his alarm clock anymore LOLOL!

Two words - Papaya Enzyme!!

It is all natural and tastes good. I used it while I was pregnant and it worked great. I still use it. I keep some in my purse all the time to help with indigestion, nausea and such. I recommend it to everyone. People are amazed at how well it works and tastes.

You can buy it at GNC. They are chewable tablets and you just chew 2 or 3 to help the nausea.

My sisters doctor told her tums, and she said they helped a lot.

I was sick from week 7 til sometime into my 6th month, 3 or 4 times a day, everyday. Hot Tamales candy settled my stomach big time. I also appreciate the person that said ginger ale because it does taste better when it comes back up. Watch out for buffets that use MSG, trust me. They never bothered me up until pregnancy and haven't since, but oh my... If you continue this like I did, you will get where you are not so nausiatied (sp?) but you will just vomit and then move on.

On a side note, I did get sick in a restaurant from looking at someone's skin (soooo mean, but I swear it's true), so prepare for weird things that will set you off....
