Mom's Coming!

My mother just announced that she might go to DL with us this fall...I don't know if I want her to come because it would be fun--for her, not for me, I know how she is on vacation!!--or if it's because I just want to plan her vacation since I'm done planning mine and I'm bored!

So...we are definitely staying on property, at the PPH, and she will probably want to stay off-property to save money--I'm assuming that she'll bring my niece and nephew. Is there a good, inexpensive hotel that would also be somewhat convenient to the PPH?

Any suggestions on how to politely tell difficult people that you are going to do what you want to, and they are welcome to come along or go off on their own, but you're not changing your mind?

If you've already planned on staying at PPH, you just need to be

assertive and tell her that's where you are staying. Don't change

your family's plans to accomodate your mother. That said, be as

flexable as you can ,where you can, to let her know your glad

she's along. Just don't get back home and then wish you would

of done thing's differently for your family!! These vacations are

too expensive and far between to totally change your plans!! If

she's wanting to go along, I assume your close enough to just

set down and talk about it.

The closest place that I know of that is fine ( I stayed one night there) is the Anabella. You can locate it on this map. It is on Katella around the corner from the PPH.

You can get a more realistinc view here. It is located in the numerous buildings above the word "Convention". The fornt of the hotel is located just scross the street from the Roller Coaster at DCA.

It is a nice enough motel with good decore and a vireity of room layouts.

Also nearby is Stovall's Inn (not to be confused with Stovall's Pavillions, Stovall's BW Park Place Inn or Stovall's Anaheim Inn) which only gets fair reviews and some bad ones.

Sometimes it's in how you say it or the delivery of what you want to convey. I personally wouldn't even suggest the option you would change. Just say, we are really looking forward to staying here....did you want me to help you with some options? Also, having an itinerary with what plans you have already set forth, usually creates an akwardness for someone to suggest for you to change them. You mights say....These are things we have planned on such & such days. Maybe we can do some of these things together.

I think compromising is good....but do the things you want to.

After re-reading the post I decided that you probably meant that you are staying on property no matter what but that you want a hotel close to PP for your mother to stay at? Let me know if i got that right?

What a good idea! That'll help her get the idea that we have plans, without telling her she's not welcome.

Yup, that's right--everything's already paid for, hotel-wise. But she probably won't want to stay on-property. I don't blame her--who wouldn't want to save the money? But for us, it's part of the whole ambience to be on property.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! With my mother, it really helps to go in with a plan, because she is soooo chaotic.
