Do you carry a purse with you at WDW? We leave in 23 days (yippee!) and I have no idea what I'm gonna carry my stuff in (sunscreen, water bottles, etc., you know the drill! lol) I am not a fanny pack person (and don't think all that stuff would fit in it anyway.) Any suggestions? Thanks!

Melrosgirl,

I usually don't carry my purse with me. I usually use a fanny pack. However, since you said that you are not a fanny pack person there is one suggestion I can make that wil save you!! Get a back pack!! I am not sure if you have children but they are a life saver. We pack extra clothes for my DS 4. Snacks for during the day, I also usually end up carrying the video camera ionbetween takes!! LOL!! You can fit just about anything in them and they are easy to carry on and off rides!!

I have a backpack purse that I got at Target that I used on our last two trips to Disney. It worked out great and in the back zipper part there were places to slide cards into. I used this for our park passes, room keys, DDE and DC cards that I had in color coded protectors. When one of us needed their ticket etc... I was able to just unzip it and grab whosever ticket etc...that I needed. It also has a spot for a PDA (palm pilot) or you could use it for a cell phone. It wasn't big enough to carry extra clothes in etc...so we always brought along my sons duffle bag from camp for that type of thing.

Over the years I've found I don't like a heavy fanny pack or backpack either, so I was happy to find a small rectangular bag with a strap long enough to go across my chest and over my shoulder. That's how I'm used to carrying weight anyway (diaper bags).

I think I got it at Walmart. It's just big enough for a camera, small water bottle and small bottle of sunscreen. Lots of pockets and zippers for things like park passes, cell phone, sunglass case. I loved it on my most recent trip, which was without the kids. On my next trip the kids will be along, but I'm still going to use it for my personal stuff and the diaper bag for all "their" stuff.

For me, backpack is the way to go! Have used one at WDW, Six Flags, SeaWorld and Kings Island. Yes it can get heavy at times but we put bathing suits and small towels in for kids (for splash areas), a few snacks, camera, sunscreen etc...

Sorry I should have added that I do take a small purse for when we go out to dinner at night and I don't want to take a backpack.

bag from walmat it was $6.95.. It slings over your shoulder.. is a large rectangle.. used it
this week while on vacation and it held.. My camera,sunscreen,2juice boxes, water bottle
Id, money, chapstick, park maps, tissues, sunglassesX3, Umm and still had extra room
for a few soulvies..

I find carrying a backpack is the easiest way to go. In fact, DH and I each carry one. By the time we load up sweatshirts for four (we generally go to WDW in the cooler months), 4 Brita water bottles, 3 cameras, etc, etc, we easily have two backpacks worth of stuff.

We aren't normally fanny-pack people either, but we used them with great success during our trip. Would it help you to call it a waist pack? My wife wore hers in the front most of the time. So many people have them that you won't feel self-conscious about the appearance. They come in all shapes and sizes, and some are quite comfortable. If you have an outdoors store like Galyans nearby you can try on several different kinds.

My wife took her shoulder bag to Sea World one day. Guess who ended up carrying it?

I used both a fanny pack and a backpack during our trip. (we just got back last night). In the fanny pack I put the camera, DH wallet, passes, $ and sunglasses. In the backpack I put diapers, wipes, changing pad, a change of clothes for DS (2) as well as the mister water bottle and sunscreen. I like/need to have my hands free to chase and coral DS :) so I like to have bags that I can wear. I purchased the fanny pack at OKW but I saw them at all of the stores. It was a nice size, larger than my old one, and was able to fit my camera in it. The backpack is any easy on/off thing for rides and the fannypack can stay on and does not get in the way. I'm not a small person, but I found the fanny pack fit fine and even had extra growing room.(I can't say that about many things:rolleyes: )

I always carry a backpack- it doesn't hurt your back and it can hold a whole bunch of stuff! When I ride I just put one of the straps around my leg and let it hang in the floor. I rode TOT and RNR with no problems! I holds my radios, wallet, rain ponchos, camera, film, water bottles, snacks, hats, sunscreen, and anything that I have purchased! I could never do the fanny pack thing- too small for this pack rat!!:bounce:

My DH and I always carry backpacks. Mine is one I got at WDW and is sort of a purse/backpack. They work out great.

I purchased a wallet that could hold both my cell phone & palm pilot; packed everything in it and threw it into a knapsack for the WDW vacation. I had everything I needed in one place; and I could carry cameras, water, squeeze breeze, etc in the knapsack. It worked for me!

We needed a diaper bag on our last three trips and I used one that was a backpack and just put my other stuff in there too and carried it into rides and attractions. My youngest son has now used it for two years of preschool as HIS backpack. What a great shower gift that was!

No purse for me. I have a camera bag with lots of pockets that I carry with me. It works great, and my DH isn't embarassed to carry it.

We usually carry a backpack-my dh and I take turns with it. I recently was on a quest to find the "perfect" traveling handbag and finaaly found one last Sunday. It's lightweight nylon with 3 small outside pockets, an organizer flap and roomy inside compartment. It should work just great to carry in the parks if I chose to, since it is so lightweight.

I've carried a backpack purse; stuffed money/keys/snacks in camcorder bag pockets; stuffed items in diaper bag when I needed that too.

My camera bag (which holds extra film case) has a strap. Im buying a water bottle strap once we get to the park. And I wear a fanny pack. There will only be 1 day we are planning on being away from Wilderness Lodge from EpCot opening to closing so will most likely rent a locker that day for sweatshirts, etc. Or take jackets that tie around the waist. Anyone have luck finding a very large fanny pack for their 2XL husband?

Sometimes I think I should have my girl status revoked...I don't wear make-up and I've never had a purse. YIKES!!!

That said, I have used both a fanny pack and a backpack at WDW and many other places we visit. When DD was younger, I used a full size backpack to carry a change of clothes, food, first aid kit, water, etc. Now that she is older, depending on the place we are visiting, I take either a kid-sized backpack or a fanny pack.

If it's a day-long adventure, the kid-sized backpack will do. It has bottle holders on either side for water and a small front pocket for camera/waller/keys or things you get frequently like chapstick. The main body comfortably holds a change of clothes for her (in case of spills or splashes) and the first aid kit as well as rain ponchos for both of us and snacks. Because it's small in size, you have a hard time overstuffing it and making it too heavy to carry.

Our backpack came from a Hilton Hotel where they give them out to kids as part of the Vacation Station giveaways. It's really sturdy and very handy.

We went totally light last December and loved it!!! I carried a neck wallet - it had my roomcard which of course doubles as a credit card and ticket. A little actual cash and a small sample size sunscreen. My son had to carry his own stuff in his cargo pockets (penny smashing paraphenalia, own sunscreen) And of course, no matter how big or small, we had our packages delivered to our room! It was liberating.
