I always keep a bird book, tree book and binoculars in the camper. I usually spend one day at FW identifying all the trees around our campsite and the birds I see. Early morning is especially good for birds, especially owls and eagles.
I'd love to have a really good quality camera to take pictures of the birds 'hiding' up in the trees. The last time we were there, several beautifully colored birds visited our picnic table as I cooked. We didn't have our digital camera nearby so took the pictures of them on my cell phone. Now, if I want a little taste of FW it's only a cell phone away. (My kids also took the phone around and got random shots of things near our campsite, nice way to pass the time when you're stuck in line behind a goober).
I'll definitely put one of our bird books on my list for our next trip.
And what happened to all the vultures that used to live in the trees out by the 2000 loop? I haven't seen them in a long time.
