Moms-2-be...wish me luck!--UPDATE!

DS is 6 and DH and I have been trying to have a second child for over 4 years. Prior to DS, I had two miscarriages. In the past two years, I have had two more...one resulting from a ruptured cyst and emergency surgery, and the other was probably ectopic, I was stuck on bed rest for weeks due to complication.

Last Tuesday (August 16) evening, I took a HPT and there were two lines! (Althoung one was very light).

I took a second test on Wednesday morning, and the line was darker.

DH is an OB/GYN resident, so, by 9:00am on Wednesday, I was in the lab getting every blood test that can be done. (It pays to have some connections )

All of the tests have come back fine so far, except my progesterone was a little low. My hcg was 79 on Wednesday and 251 on Friday! I am taking progesterone now. I have an viability scan scheduled for the 30th, to see if everything is progressing as it should.

I am SO happy, but I am SO afraid to get excited...we have just had such a run of bad luck.

The past few days have been so long...I don't think the 30th will ever come. Wish us luck...

BTW...DS has been requesting a baby brother or sister for a while now, and he has been saying a little prayer every night...the first thing he said when he heard us talking was..."Did I do it? Did I make mommy pregnant?" Response..."not quite, and please, don't say that again!"

UPDATE!
I had my ultrasound on Tuesday...there was a heartbeat, and everything is measuring just find.

I've had several miscarriages myself, I know how scary it is! Find a good book to try to keep you occupied these next few weeks, something to keep your mind off of it. Something steamy even!

I will say a prayer for you and your little one. My husband and I are now expecting our 5th child in December. We had a miscarriage between the first two boys and then had three successful ones after that. Many prayers and luck to you all.

I became the miscarriage queen (and no, I don't want that for a tag LOL) before having my youngest child. Turned out I had low progesterone and once we figured that out (3 miscarriages before we figured it out) and I took progesterone we ended up with Jake. It was a difficult time, but I wanted you to know that it's very possible that everything will work out this time. If for some reason it doesn't (or you want more children) you now have an idea of what is going on with your body, which will help in the future.

I can relate to miscarriages. I had my first 2 kids,no problems. Then I had 4 miscarriages in a row. Then I had my 3rd baby last Aug 13, 2004, we named her Faith. We had to name her Faith seeing what we went through to have her. She just turned 1, so miracles do happen

Good luck!! I had two miscarriages also and then went on baby aspirin when I became pregnant again. My ob said that her patients had good luck with that, though they recommend you discontinue it in the third trimester. Ask your husband or ob about it. I also had that test where they use some sort of iodine solution. They didn't find anything from the test, but the ob said it kind of helps to clean things out. Best of luck to you!! We went through this over 18 years ago. After having had 2 miscarriages, when I first got pregnant with our DD, I was SO afraid to get excited. I was just SO sure that it was going to end in disappointment again. I had to use Progesterone suppositories.
Everything turned out okay and DD came along and then just 13 months later we got pregnant with number two!!! (our DS). I didn't worry so much the second time because we had mad it through a successful pregnancy once so we felt more confident. They are now 17 and 15 years old.

I wish you lots of luck, my prayers are with you!! My DD is 7yo and we had a miscarriage when we were trying for #2. I know how hard it is to get excited when you are still so fearful. We got pregnant again with no problems and DS is now 2.5!!

Thank you for all your kind words. I know these first few weeks will be the most difficult to get through.

So far, everything is still uneventful, so that is good.

Now, just have to find something to keep me busy when I am home--Maybe I will finally get that mickey puzzle finished that is on my kitchen table! (It's the Scorcer Mickey Photomosaic.)

congrats on the heartbeat - thats a great sign. After having a miscarriage myself with the next pregnancy I cried when I heard that beating! I know you have to be nervous - but remember to take care of yourself.
