I couldn't believe "Jerk" came out of my DD's (6) mouth last night when we were watching ToyStory 3. She was sobbing, and kept saying he was a "jerk" and that when we go to Disney in August, she is going to tell him! (We missed getting our picture w/him in July as he was on break and we didn't want to wait). Usually DD is so laid back, quiet and shy. Not outspoken at all. I couldn't believe her reaction to Lotso. She's never (to my knowledge) ever called anyone/thing a jerk. I don't understand. She never had that reaction to the wicked queen, Jafar, Malificent (etc).

Obviously I will be keeping DD away from Lotso in August. I don't want our annual passes revoked if DD decides to attact Lotso and verbally assult him.:scared1:

You can tell her I agree. He is a jerk. I think it resonates more that he is not nice with kids because he is a teddy bear. You expect evil from a grumpy looking queen or evil looking dude, but not from a soft warm teddy bear. Maybe you could at least let her step on his toes. Ha Ha.

I'm very surprised they chose Lotso to add to the parade and for a meet and greet. I didn't think he'd be popular with kids.

I could let her step on his toes, but would feel bad for the "insider". Not their fault they got picked to be a "jerk". Perhaps the issue is because Teddy Bears are supposed to be nice and loveable. :confused3 I don't know for sure, but what I do know for sure is that DD is not interested in meeting him, or watching him in any way, shape or form. I think Disney lost a DVD sale from my house on this one.:upsidedow

Well, if that's the case, then Pixar has done something horribly right. :thumbsup2

Every Disney movie has a villain, in this case the villain is more of a bully. The poor pink bear just needed a paycheck and took the part:rotfl:

Maybe Disney should have brought out other characters to meet and greet rather than Lottso but children have no problem having their photo with the Queen of Hearts or Cruella de Vil so I guess that was their thinking. Maybe he's had a change of heart so they brought him to WDW!!

I think kids realize Lotso is a much worse villain than the classic Disney bad guys (and girls). He's a psychological monster, especially when telling other toys their owners didn't just lose them, they replaced them.

The combination of a giant strawberry-scented plush who likes to hug with voice-overs by Ned Beatty who seems to be channeling the accent of his hillbilly friends from Deliverance creeps the heck out of me...

Apparently, when I was little, I punched Donald Duck. I do not recall this incident, so I must have been very young. But my family likes to remind me of this. Not that your daughter should punch the bear, but I'm guessing it happens.

I was making DD6's autograph book (we do a really nice one every year) and was pulling up a lotso pic to use on his page and my DD6 said I thought the bad guys bever signed the books (Villians for MNSSHP). I told her lotso is making an exception and she said I don't want his autograph he is mean. I still made the page because she will change her mind when we get there.

I agree about him being the worst villian, Pixar outdid themselves, he is a very complex character and just when you think they are redeeming him he just goes from bad to evil. I mean really, who doesn't want to love a gaint strawberry scented pink bear, but he makes it impossible.

Ooooh, that Lotso talking plush is adorable though. My DD was no Lotso fan until she got that bear, now she can't get enough. He is seriously irresistible.

lol.. I think if I purchased DD a Lotso bear right now, I may find him shoved into the garbage disposal, or attached to the cat scratching post. When Lotso was climbing the ladder to push the stop button.. I told DD.. See, even evil bears can redeem theirselves and do the right thing.. Two seconds later, I was proven wrong.. DD said.. "You said everything was going to be alright and that he would be good in the end".. I have to tell you, I was sweating it out during the inferno scene.. I was thinking "Please don't make me wrong and fire-up some of the good guys". Personally, I don't think Lotso got enough punishment at the end. I would have liked to have seen him end up as a dog chew toy!

I saw Toy Story 3 with my sister and my 3 year old nephew. He yelled at Lotso, in a super-crowded theater of course, "You piece of poop!" No doubt quoting something he heard from his dad as he tries to make his language PG. We got some strange looks!

We purchased a Lotso Hugging Bear last night and as we went to other stores, in search of last minute trip items, EVERY cashier mentioned him, and asked why we would bring home the BAD GUY!!!!!!!

We laughed, and explained our plan... We are driving down to Dinsey world and are decorating the van... and Lotso is going to be joining us.. attached to the grill of the car!!!!! :rotfl2:

Totally agree with you!! At least Maleficent and her ilk are honest about what they are! I knew (before I saw the movie) that they had Lotso in DS for pix & autographs and I thought how cute and perfect for a character to have in the park he was! Now, however... :crazy2:

Great truths come from the mouths of babes! :lmao:

WHAT a great idea!!! May have to steal that one from you for our upcoming Magic cruise...

He is by far the worst Disney Villain ever, great job by Pixar. Truly complex, for a kids movie, or any movie: a loving toy early in his life, a hurt castoff looking for meaning, an unapologetic dictator fearful of losing control, and a sociopath lacking any concise—All that wrapped up in the cutest little pink fluffy wrapping.

Side question: what actor did his voice?

My favorite answer to this was what I read on another thread. We like "Lotso", we don't like the character he played in that movie. Treat him like it was an acting job for him to be mean, not his actual personality. This is what we have decided to tell my niece and nephew when we in October. They both seem to understand this angle. They may let him know they didn't like the character he played, but they don't feel like they want to injure him.

Well, Lotso IS a jerk (and that's putting it mildly). I'm sure he gets yelled at by lots of kids. If they ever bring back the villains dinner he'd be a natural...but I still think Frollo is the worst Disney villain ever. What sets Lotso apart is he may be the first Disney villain who doesn't LOOK like a villain.

Ned Beatty is the voice actor. I thought his voice was creepy too, is it just those who've seen Deliverance who get that?
