Ok so on both our HS days we are planning on eating lunch and paying out of pocket. Most likely my husband and I will share a meal and the kids will share a meal. We are going to try 50's Prime Time Cafe for one of the days, I just can't decide for the other day, either Momma Melrose or Sci Fi. I think the kids would really get a kick out of eating in the cars but not sure about the food quality here. We also have a peanut allergy in our group and all the pbj shakes I keep hearing about makes me nervous. The other option is Momma Melrose. We won't be having any Italian on our trip so thought this is a good option too.

So, which would you go with and why?

Thanks!:)

First, the PB&J shake is at 50's, not SciFi.

Second of all, between MM and SciFi, I prefer SciFi. They revamped their menu recently, more burger options! thats what theyre "known" for, good burgers. Their shakes are great too. And i love their peanutbutter choc cake. SO YUMMY. As for the meals, as i said, burgers are great. havent tried the picnic burger but i heard its TASTY! I really like their spinach/chip dip. Very good. Their chicken wings are also surprisingly tasty! My son loved it, so did I. Their onion rings are great too. I highly recommend it. The theme is a lot of fun. Love that place. Plus if youre sharing, SciFi is perfect cause their portions are generous.

I would definitely do Sci-Fi over MM even if it is just for the atmosphere.

We just had desserts there a couple of weeks ago but I so wanted that picnic burger!

Im kicking myself for not trying the picnic burger when i was there in August!

I like MM but if you are sharing and brining the kids I would also vote for Sci Fi. It's not an experience you can get anywhere else. We are trying prime time instead next week, and I am second guessing myself. My boys love sci fi!

Food quality- MM is MUCH better. Our experience at MM was a very positive one, and I would go there over Sci-Fi in a heartbeat. BUT, that is me. If a unique atmosphere is more the deal breaker, then go Sci-Fi. My husband, daughter and I were rather underwhelmed by the food at Sci-Fi, but the experience was pretty cool regardless. It's a win-win really! :) Good luck and have fun!

We have enjoyed Sci Fi numerous times!

Sci-Fi = Yum! :thumbsup2

The burgers are great and it really redeemed DHS somewhat for their TS offerings. (H&V is atrocious, and 50's PT was just not good).

Haven't eaten at MM since 2000, but I remember it being good...of course, DH and I were poor college kids whose parents paid for our Spring Break back then so anything might have tasted good! :rotfl:

Funny how we all have different experiences. MM is BY FAR the worst meal I have had in WDW. I would never eat there again and we LOVE Italian food.

Sci Fi is usually a "must do" for my family. My kids LOVE it and the food has been good each time we have dined. The steak salad was wonderful..wish they did not take it off the menu! Spinach dip is always great and the BLT soup very very yummy. DH always enjoyed the ribs.

Everyone has their own experiences and opinions so just go with what menu/dining experience looks most appealing.

I loved the ribs too! So sad to see them off the menu as well. :(

Definitely funny how opinions differ. We agreed that the dinner we had at SciFi would never be spoken of again! It was by far the worst food we have had at Disney! We have enjoyed Mama Melrose on a number of visits but one visit we had poor service. We were forced to practically run straight to Fantasmic! for our reserved seating with our desserts wrapped up for us. We realized half way through dinner that we had better request them packed up for us. All worked out, but it was a little nerve wracking! I definitely would choose MM over SciFi.

Wow what a Tie !

As of May 2012 I've now tried ALL TS meals at DHS....

Also as of May 2012 we did MM F! and Sci FI.

(MM F! IS Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dining Package).

MM F! is now my FAVORITE Fantasmic Dining Package. We liked H&V Fantasmic for the buffet for the pickies....
HBD Fantasmic was NOT such a great meal but IMHO HBD redeemed itself in May 2012 with the Imagineer dining.

We LOVED Mama Melrose- THE FOOD ! in May. ALL SIX of us which have varying degrees of Picky....

We LOVED the atmosphere of Sci Fi. We had good service at both.

If you are planning to see Fantasmic I'd suggest the Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dining plan.

If not... it's MM for food and Sci Fi for Atmosphere.....

I'd have to go with SciFi. MM is now just so so for me after going to Via Napoli in Epcot.

We ate at both last week. Sci fi as ok I had turkey sandwich and it was your basic turkey sandwich. DH had steak. It was ok but he had much better steaks other places. Including MM. At MM we both got the steak which was delish. I was not impressed with the mac n cheese. Too garlicky. I liked yhe mac n cheese at Boatwrights better. I even like the kids mac n cheese bettr!! We would sub for some other side next time. The desserts at MM were yummy especially the chocolate ricotta cake. I think the kids would love sci fi for the atmosphere. But MM food was better! IMO

We LOVED SciFi in June when we were vacationing. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the environment and the food was delicious! My DS 12 and DS 5 absolutely loved it! We will go back June 2013! I've never been to MM so I can't compare but I do know SciFi was a huge hit for us. Strongly recommend!
