I am trying to book for HS day and can't decide which one I should book? Is there one you love or hate? Just want some opinions. I have become so indecisive! :rotfl2:

Mama Melrose is your basic Italian, nothing Disney. Fine but when you can have creative I'd rather ....

Prime Time is fun, decor is all 50's, some servers to "act" and have fun with you. Good homestyle like you'd expect like meatloaf, fried chicken.

I like both and we usually eat at both every trip. Mama Melrose has one of my favorite steaks on property; their New York strip and the pasta dishes are pretty good too. Prime Time is a fun meal and a fun atmosphere. We usually eat there later in our trip because our picky eaters (including me!) are pretty tired of steak by then. I dream about their fried chicken in between trips! Have you looked at the menus?

We like Prime Time - the interior is neat and the food is pretty good and it has a fun twist to it. It has been a while since we ate at Mama Melrose - we just didn't find it to be particularly fun or interesting -and the food was okay.

We are trying prime time next month. Last time we did mama melrose. I thought it was ok, nothing special. The rest of my group loved mama melrose. I'm looking forward to the interactions at prime time as much as the menu choices.

I have been to Prime Time and loved it on our last trip. I didn't want to miss out on trying something different with the kiddos, but didn't want to be dissapointed either. I have looked at both menus and both look descent. The fried chicken may win out. My son LOVES fried chicken and I refuse to cook it!:thumbsup2

I vote for 50's prime time. I liked the food and theme there much better than melrose.

Looks like you've got a split crowd though so I don't know that it will make your decision much easier!

I like both. Prime Time has great comfort food with antics from the waiters that may or may not be annoying depending on your mood. Mama Melrose is one of the better and affordable Italian restaurants at WDW.

I'd go with 50s Prime Time. I thought the food at Mama Melrose's was underwhelming. There wasn't a lot of flavor.

Haven't done Mama Melrose, but 50s Prime Time has been good both times we ate there. In fact, I would say the sustainable fish of the day was excellent. It was salmon, but the sauce and sweet potato hash are things that I crave rather frequently. Last time, I got the meatloaf, which was really good. The green beans were a little bland though, but I am very picky about green beans.

We like both, BUT if I had to choose one...We would choose 50's Prime Time. The fried chicken dinner is very good.

The decor and interactions of the wait staff at 50's is fun, but I feel the food is blah. We prefer Mama Melrose's.

I vote for Prime Time. Been to both and just find Mama Melrose to be blah. We had a lot of fun at Prime Time and most of us enjoyed our food (Fried Chicken was a favorite)

Prime time can be a lot of fun, good comfort food and has great theming. My vote is for PT :)

We like both but 50s would get my choice hands down just on food alone, not including the fun environment

Can't speak for Mama Melrose, but my family ate at 50's for the first time this week and we loved it. The food was good, and our server, Cousin Mandi, was a great server and really played into the theme of the restaurant very well. It was probably our favorite dining experience of the week.

If on Dining Plan, the Mama Melrose Fantasmic Pkg is a good value as appetizer is included as well as your priority seating ticket. Looks like the Music of Pixar Live dining pkg should work the same way. I loved the MM steak that I had last Fall. All of my food was excellent and a really positive food & service dining experience. I've already made my ADR for next Sept. If the Pixar dining pkg is extended into Sept, I'll prob swap to try a new show.

Mama Melrose isn't great Italian but if you stay away from the Italian staples dishes like the ones that have tomato sauces or the Fried Calamari, it can be terrific. Go with the most American sounding dishes they have on the menu, like the steak or the pork chop, stay away from their attempts at Italian sounding dishes.

'50s Prime Time has much better and consistent food for what they are attempting to do which is classic Americana style retro comfort food from a bygone era. Every dish I've had there has been great. I've had the chicken pot pie, the fried chicken, and the stuffed pork chop and all delicious. And the decor is straight out of Leave it to Beaver and the wait-staff all act like they're in a timewarp. It's quite the experience. Portions are HUGE, too, and they DO get on your case if you're struggling to finish your veggies or have elbows on the table.
