My 16 year old dd also loves classic rock and hates when some of the new artists today butcher the old songs, I think they call it sampling. I thinks its more like stealing because they have no imagination to write their own songs.

Ok This is just funny.

Cam came in and said " Mom youve got to hear this really great new song!"

So I pop in the headphones and hear "Ill stop the world and Melt with you"



OK so I was listening on an Ipod as opposed to a tape player but the lyrics were the same LOL.

Actually the lyrics are slightly different LOL. My kid was just watching the video for this yesterday and the 2nd line has been changed from "making love to you was never second best" to "being friends with you was never second best". Thank goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I laughed the first time I heard it, because Valley Girl is still one of my favorites, I watch it often, and I have the Soundtrack.

I'm a Believer was made huge in my house by the Shrek Soundtrack, so I took that opportunity to introduce my daughter to the Monkees .

DD (14) has discovered, with a little help from me, Queen, Blondie, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Pat Benatar and Kiss. For her BD party invites she recorded a greeting and party info onto a CD and filled the rest with samples of these artists. Now all her friends are singing old time rock. It's too funny.

A couple of years ago my nephew was singing "I Shot the Sheriff". He informed me that it was a new song he just heard. I burst his bubble when I explained to him that the song was not new.

Our DDs got into Simon and Garfunkel while they were in high school. They knew all along it was old stuff, but that didn't matter to them.
