Mom & Son with Dad + One - Going to say Goodbye to the Lights! Kona Cafe & now Complete!

My family loves GFC for lunch. It has been the only restaurant to consistently meet or exceed expectations in our trips. We consider it a must for lunch on our MK day (sometimes twice a trip!) we have never tried it for breakfast, but I have been eyeing that eggs Benedict! Now that I see it, I can tell we will have to work a breakfast into our next trip. I love the relative quiet of the GFC.

I'm still kicking myself for not getting the french toast during our last trip to GFC. I have no idea what I was thinking, as yours looks and sounds delicious. I went the eggs benedict route like your hubby but it was just plain old canadian bacon then. Looks like they improved things significantly.

Where did you get those cake pops? They look like the perfect little snack. I've only ever seen the larger character decorated ones.

I am not the OP but I can answer the cake pop question. They are from Starbucks. And you can get them at any Starbucks around the world.. they are standard menu items.

DS and I had a less than stellar dinner at GFC a few trips back so I have been hesitant to go back. After our two really good breakfasts this trip, I may consider trying lunch. Seems like a good option for a MK day.

Yeah, not sure I would have enjoyed the Eggs Benedict as much with Canadian bacon. The thick cut bacon they used was really perfect.

As the previous poster said, Starbucks has the cake pops. There may be some other places to get them in WDW but the Starbucks ones are really good!

Once we changed our day around and found that we could not get into Morimotos for dinner, the "kids" immediately requested a repeat from our August trip ... Bongos. I didn't take pics of the menu this time but I don't think it changed much for August ....



And as with our previous trip we had the combo appetizer...

We got two of these and ate most everything. I love the fried pork bites!

Once again the kids shared the paella ...



They ate just about the whole pan. I thought the rice was a bit mushy this time and didn't enjoy the couple of bites I had as much as in August but they loved every bite.

DH had ribs ...



He really liked these. I don't like ribs that don't fall off the bone so I didn't try them.

I had a steak dish recommended by our waitress ....



This was ok ... steak was flavorful but a bit tough. The chimichurri was very oily. The flower was edible so we tried it but it didn't have much taste.

No dessert as A&J planned to stay in DTD and go to Ghirardelli later. DH and I were tired so we took the boat back to Port Orleans. I don't know that I enjoyed this meal as much as the one in August. In part I think because we decided to eat outside and the wind picked up a bit so it was chilly. Nothing was bad, this just wasn't my first choice for dinner. A&J loved it and think we should go back every trip.

Looks like another solid meal at Bongos, albeit not as good as last your last trip. Those ribs and paella do look delicious. Sorry you couldn't try Morimoto, Im actually a bit surprised they were that full but I guess it was still holiday crowd time. I'm on the fence about trying Morimoto. I was hoping they'd have some great sushi options, but it looks rather uninspired in that department

And thanks for the info on the cake pops. We have over $100 in starbucks gift cards we take to the world every year, but the lines always look to long so we've yet to actually go inside any of them. One of these days

I was surprised by Morimotos as well and agree the sushi options are limited. Dad and I plan to try it in March. As for Starbucks at WDW, the line moves quickly so I don't mind it too much. Wouldn't try it the first stop of the morning though!

Hey all - I am sorry for the long delay. Life got in the way for a bit. Nothing too serious, just stuff that cut into my Dis time!

So as perfect as Saturday was weather wise is as lousy as it was on Sunday! Cold & rainy. Blech. It was our planned EPCOT day and the last day Soarin' would be open before the refurb. So we had to trudge on!

First up, we were staying at French Quarter so we had to try the beignets!



These were so very good! Possibly worth a trip to try even if we were not staying there. Light, fluffy inside. Just perfect.

Despite the cold rainy day, after playing in Future World for a bit, we headed to France for a Grand Marnier slushie!





Now, I am used to having these in August when they melt as fast as you can drink them. They suck down very quick and easy! This was not the case and it took me forever to drink! I enjoyed every sip!

We decided to split up for lunch - A&J really wanted to go to San Angel Inn and I just wasn't feeling Mexican food. I asked them to take pics for me and this is all I got ...

Andrew had a steak dish with chilaquiles

I know they also had the chicken tortilla soup but alas, no pics!

They loved their lunch and have been raving about it since. After the disaster of a meal that DH and I had on our first Mom & Son trip, I am glad that it seems that this restaurant is turning back around to the good. DH and I may end up giving it a try in October.

I was desperately craving a burger and with it being a chilly day, soup seemed in order. Soooo ... Chefs de France it is!



The menu ...







First up, the delicious bread and butter ...



The bread was warm and the butter cold. I am one that enjoys that. Plus the crunchy exterior. This was just the perfect bread for me!

DH has the cheese plate



This is good but the bread choice is a bit odd ... its a raison bread. And there isn't hear enough for the amount of cheese. That is where the baguette came back into play!

I had to have the French Onion Soup ...



This was soooo good. Nice beefy broth, tons of cheese. Very flavorful and not too salty as on a past trip.

DH had the Monte Christo ...



He enjoyed this very much. Originally we were going to share halves but he enjoyed the sandwich so much that he didn't really want to switch. I was more than fine with that because I had been seriously craving the burger ...




And the inside ...



I had this burger once before and it is maybe the best burger I have ever had. The mushroom duxelle is so good. The fries were perfect and crispy. This was an awesome burger.

My only complaint with this meal was the service. It was so slow! It was like 45 minutes between appetizer and dessert. A table near us was seated a few minutes after us and had their appetizers and entrees and were finishing dessert when our entrée finally came!

We weren't in a hurry but we never said that. I was definitely ready to leave and really full so no dessert for us.

DH was fighting a cold he brought with him and I wasn't keen on staying in the rain so we headed to the Beach Club & took a cab back to the hotel. DH watched some football and I crashed for the best nap!

Next up, dinner at Flying Fish!

Both of your lunches at Chefs look delicious! I'm a cheese freak so seeing cheese on both sandwiches and the soup and of course the cheese board, makes me drool!

Glad to see you back! SAI in looks good, looks like your daughter had the chicken enchiladas. I had those last month and they were very tasty. Boo for slow service at Chefs, but yay for some great food!

Yummmm! Chefs has been on my radar for a while. I think everything there looks delicious - just somewhere we haven't got to yet. I think that French onion soup looks outstanding! I really liked the one at Be Our Guest but I think this one looks even better. The raisin bread seems like an odd addition to a cheese plate, but the cheeses all look great.

Your burger looks delicious. I'm not a big QS burger fan, but I do like a good burger every now and then. Looks like we will have to give Chefs a try.

Can't wait to hear about your FF experience. We ate there in November, it was by far our favorite meal of the trip, possibly ever in Disney.

I would have a hard time deciding between SAI and Chefs....looks like you both made good choices! A cold rainy day at Disney is still a day at Disney
