Mom of new born twins dies at 69

Not necessarily. Women in my family have a history of menstrual issues, like cramps that make you faint, cysts, early menopause. One of my aunts went through menopause at 26! Everyone's different, and her case definitely was a rarity, but still.

And, the woman was Spanish, but she went to an IVF center in Los Angeles where she told them she was 55, the maximum age, even though she was 65/66. THAT is the problem. I think the maximum age of 55 is way too old to begin with, 45 would be better.

menopause is when your body stops releasing eggs to ovulate, and yes, that means that your body is no longer prepared to bare children. after menopause, your eggs (if there are any left) are old, and chances of a miscarriage (or deformities and mental problems) skyrocket exponentially.

i do not think that (unless in the mentioned extreme, rare cases) that women should be allowed to medically force children after menopause.

How unfortunate. If she really wanted to have children, I wish she would've adopted.

even if she had adopted two years ago, she would still be dead, and those children would still be without a parent, because she made a horrible selfish decision and only thought of herself.

::yes::
What's going to happen to these kids? - they're most likely going to end up in government care. Everyone (meaning the taxpayers) will be raising the kids because someone was thinking of herself only. Not only that, they will grow up without a real sense of home, parents, etc.
It's just a shame all around.

I meant that in the general sense. If older people decide they want children, they should adopt.

That woman was so incredibly selfish! If she was lonely and wanted some company..buy a freakin' cat! It's much less expensive and easier to take care of.

And when shes dies, it's easier to find a new home for a cat than twin toddlers.

i really doubt that most agencies would adopt to anyone over lets say 45. its hell to adopt a child, and its incredibly expensive and can take years to finish the process. why would anyone go through all that if they could just go pay for the invitro and get instant gratification? its sad, but thats how people are going to view it.

and i think that older couples shouldn't really adopt children anyway (i mean in cases where the parents are older than 50s) because adopted children need even MORE of a sense of home than average children. If a child was adopted into a home (finally, after lets say years in orphanages and foster care) probably once they got really comfortable with their parents, what if those parents died? i know there's the risk of death with all of us every day, but you can't say that the risk isn't higher when you're 66. that would cause probably more problems with the child than never adopting it in the first place. because once the parent dies, who will care for it? i'm sure her parents are dead, and her siblings are probably as old as she is, so the children will go back to being wards of the state, right back where they started.

its a sad, viscous cycle, and i definitely think that you should have decided long before now to have children.

I can't even imagine being so old & having such young kids. It's just not fair to the kids whatsoever.

What did she die of?

there already is a max age to have kids. its called menopause.

i'm disgusted by anyone that would allow a 66 year old woman to give birth. its selfish, its cruel, and now they're having to deal with the consequences.

ITA.

That's what I was saying too, like being older there are so many risks you take with your eggs. Time ages, & that can result is so many complications.

Alyssa, she died of cancer. She swore that she would live to 100+ because her mother did.

Ooooh I see. That's a shame :(
That makes no sense? I wish they would've varified her age...Not everyone lives as long as their parents.

Yep. She lied to the IVF clinic saying she was 55. How she managed that one I don't know. There are certain things that can be passed on to your children, but old age is not one. I don't know what this lady was thinking, but it sure was not a wise decision.
