"Mom, My Wish Came True!" Our best-trip-ever-week-before-Thanksgiving '09 TR!

I cannot wait to head to DTD! I love to shop and all of the shops look wonderful to just walk around in. My parents will not be coming to disney, but I convinced them they had to come and spend the day at DTD with us while they are in FL! :)

ARRIVAL DAY -- STILL CONTINUED!!!!

Okay, so we had left DTD around 10:45pm, and you would THINK that would be about it for the day, but we still have a little bit left of day 1!!

When we got back to the resort, Lily really wanted to try out the hot tub. She loves hot tubs and doesn't usually get a chance to be in one because at our athletic club you have to be 12 to go in it. So she was all over that. Unfortunately, when Nana (my mom) took her out there, there were some creepy looking guys in there, so Lily decided to swim in the pool instead. So we were out there for a little bit, then went back to the rooms.

Everyone was laying around in one room, and we were talking about marriage for some reason. My mom wasn't exactly giving it a glowing review. :sad2: Janie suggested we get out the itinerary and brief ourselves on DAY 2. I said something like, Oh, Andy, why don't you just get it overwith already and propose to Janie? You guys have been kicking it around for so long! Then all of a sudden he gets out this box, gets down on one knee, pulls out a ring, and asks her to marry him!

Look at Lily all up in it.

Nice band-aid, Andy!

It was a very sweet moment. And NOW we knew why Andy's stomach was hurting all evening and he didn't order anything at TRex. Nerves! He said he had thought of the different places he could have done it, but he had to just get it done that night if he wanted to even enjoy his trip! After the proposal, Lily said, "NOW can we look at Day 2?" :upsidedow

Okay, BED TIME PEOPLE! We have a big day at Epcot tomorrow!!!! (although luckily, I had already planned that we wouldn't be getting TOO early of a start).

Stay tuned for day 2, Epcot! The best Epcot day ever!!

Oh gosh, I can't wait for you to see it. It is sooo much fun looking at EVERYTHING DISNEY!!! We didn't buy much that first night (except Lily's Christmas hat and shirt), but we went back right before we went home and spent the rest of our spending money. I had to buy that little Christmas Yoda. And the jewelry is ESPECIALLY fun!!!

I have got to subscribe to this trip report. I am hooked already. :cheer2:
When planning our upcoming trip I had ressies at POFQ but then got a pin code and decided to upgrade to Beach Club for the pool. I think when we go back in the future, (I understand Disney trips are like a particular kind of chip you can't have just one) with the whole family we'll get connecting rooms at POFQ.

Thank you so much, I'm enjoying reliving this trip. It was such a blast!!!

So is your upcoming trip your first?? Oh yes, prepare to get addicted! Well, I guess some people are perfectly content with one trip to WDW, but I wouldn't be surprised if you're picking dates for your second trip shortly after arriving home from your first. ;)

Thanks again for joining!

You know I've gotta post on the engagement part first even though it was the last thing I read. Oh my gosh! What better place to get proposed to than in Disney. I wouldn't care if it was on a Disney bus....it's a marriage proposal at Disney. Way to go Andy!

Now, back to the other stuff.....

The turky sandwich from the food court looks extra yummy. I was ever so glad when our son turned 10 and could start ordering off the adult menu. He doesn't like PB&J and what kid wants to eat just two or three chicken nuggets at a time.

I'm glad that ya'll enjoyed your meal at T-Rex. We ate there in August and everything was super duper yummy. I saw the cotton candy drink thingies but we didn't try one. Oh and we were seated in the ice cave room too.

Hum? I think that's it.;)

I know, so sweet. :lovestruc To think he had the ring for who knows how long and was saving it for our trip! I love it! Only problem is, they had Uncle Billy in the room with them the whole rest of the week. :rolleyes1

He doesn't like PB&J and what kid wants to eat just two or three chicken nuggets at a time. You can say that again! Their kids' meals are so blech a lot of the time. That's a lot of why usually do several buffets for our TS meals. I'm looking forward to when we can do a few less buffets!

Thanks for reading along! ;)

Oh. My. Gosh. The drink at TRex is so cool! The meal looked good, too, but the drink! :rotfl2:

What a cool engagement story!

That cotton candy martini thing is such a neat idea!

Awww a Disney proposal! How cute that everyone got to witness it. Love how Lily was front and center for it. :rotfl:

Speaking of Lily, she seems to be quite the ham in the photos! She's so cute!

Our waitress told us when they make the cotton candy in the mornings the whole place smells like cotton candy. Mmmm!

I love the engagement! What a great memory! :goodvibes

Yeah, as I said in our intros, Andy's been part of our family for 25 years or so now, so I guess he figured he'd make it official! I *think* he was just kidding when he said he'd take Janie's last name instead of vice versa!

WOW! A proposal at WDW! This trip is fantastic!:goodvibes

Thanks, Rozz! Glad you're enjoying! BTW, I LOVE, LOVE your avatar!

I know, Lily was funny! Luckily she approves, or I'm not so sure Janie would have said yes! She is a total poser, and I thought it was so funny how she was like, "Okay, NOW can we talk about DAY 2??!!! :rotfl:

I'm IN! A proposal, lots of yummy food and shopping all within one day - fabulous!

A big day 1, for sure!!! This really was such a great trip, I hope you'll stay tuned for the rest!

Thanks for reading, everyone. It's so much more fun to relive the memories when others are joining along! :flower3:

Great tripreport. Can't wait to read more.
The weddingproposal was sooo cute!

Great report so far!- You seem like such a nice warm family! Can't wait to read the rest!

Aww, thanks!!! We do love each other. Lily has called uncle Billy in Seattle bawling from missing him a few times since we've been back. I told her not to worry, at least we know we'll see him at the wedding sometime soon!!

Unfortunately, my vacation has ended with 4 brutal 12 hour shifts in a row over this holiday weekend.:sad1: Definitely back in the real world now! But let me get a little bit of day 2 going before I go to work this morning...

Day 2 -- EPCOT! Sun, 11/16/09

Okay! Time to hit the parks!!! We aren't hoppers, figure there's enough to see/do at each park, and we spend the whole day. When I was figuring out which park/which day, I had a couple things to take into account. First was Fantasmic!, which is a must-see for all of us, and when I was planning there were only 2 showings of it (of course they ended up adding a few more during our week, but the plans were already in motion at that point!). I also scheduled around the Boma menu for later in the week, and the day we would attend MVMCP. So taking all that into account, Epcot turned out to be our first park day.

Epcot didn't really do it for me and Lily on our first trip (although we both loved Soarin'), but we had a really good time there in Feb on our 2nd trip, so we were gung ho and hoping to catch some magic this day!!! Turned out to be a super-fabulous, best-EPCOT day ever!

After our late-ish night, I was taking it easy on everyone and decided we could forego rope drop at Epcot. My big goal was to just make sure we got fast passes for Soarin' with a decent return time so we would have plenty of time in the afternoon to see the World Showcase. So we decided to shoot for 9:15am to be at the bus stop.

Success!!! We were all at the bus stop and ready to go at 9:06am!!!

Our first park bus!!

I'll take this chance to say that we had outstanding luck with Disney transportation on this trip! We never once stopped at Riverside to pick up anyone, and I honestly don't think we waited more than 10 minutes for a bus the whole time, either coming or going from the parks. We did stand up one time, but every other time was a timely bus with plenty of seats. SCORE!!!!

I timed our trip from POFQ to Epcot -- it was a 7 minute bus ride. So we probably arrived at Epcot by 9:30am at the latest.

100_2914.jpg

On our first trip in 2007, we didn't get to ride Spaceship Earth because it was closed for refurb. That was the only trip my poor DH has gone on with us, and he had always wanted to go in the Geosphere. He still complains about not getting to try it. Next time, if he ever goes back! On our 2nd trip, we whizzed past it in our quest for Soarin' fast passes, then we never got back over there. Now on this 3rd trip I was determined we were going on it!!!! So the FPs would have to wait. We're getting on it first thing. Jumped in line and walked on!

I really enjoyed it, and Lily love, love, LOVED it!!! I rode with my mom, and here's our pic at the end...

100_2915.jpg

I had seen people's future pics before, but I think it was a big surprise for my mom at the end and we were cracking up.

Okay, so now I had one and only thing on my mind -- get to Soarin' and get those FPs!!!!!!! We flew over in that direction, and Janie did say, "I hope we can slow down a little and enjoy this!" I assured her I was just being neurotic about the FP situation, and that this would be our only hurrying of the day!

Imagine my surprise when we get over there and there was a 15 minute wait posted!!!!! WooHOOOO!!! We decided to just ride standby! We whizzed past all the interactive games on our way in, and I was thinking, this is AMAZING! I've never gotten on there that quick, even with fast passes!

On our way through the empty queue, Billy started having a panic attack and said, "I can't do this!" He had ridden it in 2007, but was scared to death the whole time in line, even though some of us had already ridden and assured him it was nice, slow, and relaxing. He must have a thing with heights or something. So he bailed out and waited for us.

Here's a pic of shame...

100_2924.jpg

The only other issue was that Lily did NOT want front row. She's quite the ride chicken, and somehow it helps if people's feet are dangling in front of her. :confused3 I was secretly hoping for front row! But we agreed we'd take whichever spot they gave us, and I was a little relieved for her that we ended up in the 3rd row -- plenty of dangling feet for my little one!!!

The ride, as usual, was a total blast. I love the smells! And I always feel like I can kick the people boating in the river.

Well, that's my super-quick update for this morning, gotta go get ready for work. But stay tuned, because this really was one heck of an EPCOT day!!!!
