What can I do with my old stuff? I have at least 3 mix & match sets of plates, bowls, etc. What type of organization would like such a donation? They're in pretty good condition, some with chips and stuff on the edges, but not horrible.

Maybe Goodwill or the Salvation Army. You might want to check your local fire dept., maybe a family starting over etc. :thumbsup2

Habitats from Humanity have stores where they re-sale house hold goods.
Women's shelters may need them -or have a client that does.

I would suggest a womans shelter or Hospice for resale. I have never been much of a fan of the Salvation Army or some of the others since it seems when they resell they are so expensive that most people could buy new!

When we got our new dishes, I took our old ones to our local Catholic Charities which has a couple of safe houses for abused women and children. I took an old microwave as well. They were VERY pleased with both things.

Call your town hall and talk to someone there. These people sometimes know of families that have had a devostating fire and have nothing anymore - then they would tell you were to take it.

This one's easy -- battered women's program. It's not unusal for clients to leave with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They need everything when they're finally able to move out on their own.

Our shelter takes all sorts of household items including baby stuff and women's and children's clothes.
