staying at hard rock hotel for our first non-disney vacation...daughter was disappointed that we are not staying at nick hotel...i thought i would let them have a night to themselves to go have some fun while i keep the three boys..and ideas???? i don't think their is an american girl but is there something like that or just anything a mother and her 10 year old could do special..thanks

Downtown disney has lots of interesting things to do. They have a place where your W&D can make their own video. The Cirque De sole (sp?) is suppose to be nice. Shopping is always a big hit with my wife and daughter. The Belz outlet mall isn't too far from Universal. Drop them off there and tell them to go wild.

at universal mom and daughter outin - daughter much too young to club hop....

I will think about it and get back to you.

there is not alot for mom and daughter to do outside the theme parks at US.

here is a list of the special events
http://www.universalorlando.com/cw_events.html

here is the website for US/IOA

they could do a movie - but they can do that anywhere

www.universalorlando.com

I can't even find that it has character meals... they use too....call the hotel and ask there.

So I am not sure what they could do together here.

You might have to take them somewhere else

here is good shopping information

http://www.orlandotouristinformationbureau.com/shopping/malls.htm

taking them to Disney is always a choice. then they could do a Character meal together - or the tea social at GF, or do a tour - their is more to do for a mother and daughter at WDW than US/IOA....

sorry!!!

now if your daughter were older - then at US/IOA there is a ton of stuff to do....

City Walk with the movie plex, or International Drive with the shopping or dinning. How about Florida Mall or Mall at Milennia? That would make shopping fun....Take her to Build A Bear Workshop and let her make a cute teddy with Disney outfit. How about an attraction like Fun Spot? It could work, since it has some go cart rides and other kid friendly attractions.

If you're doing 'non Disney' I'd second going to City Walk :thumbsup2

DD (7) loves it there. We go to eat and have met up with a friend and her grandaughter before to have fun. Catch the boat over to the Portafino Hotel :sunny:
We like Old Town, Kissimmee too :cheer2:

The Movie and a Meal ticket is a good value at City Walk ($19.99 per person, I don't know if children are less expensive). I had wondered if it would just be a hamburger or something, but it wasn't. We had fajitas (I think) at the Hard Rock Cafe and something with pasta (can't remember the name) at Margaritaville (Margaritaville had somebody making balloon animals).

The meals were around $15 each on the menu (not counting the beverages). The ticket also includes all taxes and tips.

Then you also get a movie ticket. The theater was great.

The nice thing is that all of this is walking distance, and you don't have to leave the grounds.
