We are heading to MGM next weekend...my DH and I love to ride the coasters but our kids don't (one is too little and the other one is a "ride whimp"). We are bound and determined to ride it on this visit...is it any fun going it alone? I always think 1/2 the fun is sitting next to your friend/hubby, etc. and screaming your head off!

Let me know!

Well, you have two options as I see it:

1) Use an In Room Sitter and go to MGM for the night as a couple and ride to your heart's content, over and over again!

2) Take turns using the Fast Pass system (get as many fast passes as possible with your family's tickets).

My DH and I used the sitters in March for our three young kids and went to MGM during their AP event. The park was closed except for TOT and RnRC and only for AP holders. We had a GREAT time, rode RnRC 3 times and TOT 6 times... lol...

Good luck!

P.S. The In Room Sitter choices are Kids Nite Out (Disney affiliated) and Fairy Godmothers. Both will run you under $75 for two kids for 4 hours.

Edited to add: I don't even know if you are staying overnight, so if you aren't... you have to take turns OR you can "rent" your own VIP CM for $80/hour and they can watch your kids while you ride... but there is a 5 hour minimum for rental so that would be ONE expensive ride! lol

In all the years I have been to Disney, I have yet to ride it with DH. First my DD 11 was little, and we did Child Swaps. Now we do them with my son. Luckily I now get to ride with DD11, who thinks its awesome to ride everything twice!

My kids wouldn't ride this either, on our last two trips. Yes, it is fun to ride it alone! My dh and I get 4 fastpasses (we use the kids) then we take turns and each ride twice. I love this ride (and I'm a huge wimp) and this is the only way we can ride. So far I have always ridden with people who have never ridden before, so that makes it even more fun. Sometimes you can get on a little faster as well, because they have a single empty seat to fill. Go for it!

Isn't there somthing called a kid swap or baby swap? Meaning that everyone gets in line but one parent gets on the ride at a time while the other watches the children.

When my DD was younger, my wife and I sometimes had to take turns...sure it is great to experience it together but make sure you take the time to ride, experience the thrills and the great theming of this ride.

It may not be as much fun as riding together but it will still be a great addition to your Disney experience!

Have a great time.

I just rode it Sunday by myself. Dh and I were there with our 4 year old and dh had no desire to go on RnRC! I sat next to a woman who was around 55 who had never been on it! It was my 1st time also! We laughed the whole time! Use the baby swap and go for it solo! You'll both still have a blast!! Have fun~ and have a ride for me!! Tracy : ):bounce:

We have run into the same problem, so we do the kid swap, where one person keeps the kids, and the other rides. The give you a fastpass paper with no return time on it, and when your spouse comes out, you get in the Fastpass line and ride... have to do it all of the time on Tower of Terror! DD likes RnR now that she is tall enough to ride it. It has never bothered either of us to ride alone.

You didn't mention how old your kids are, but you could do one of the kids' clubs. The Sandcastle Club at the Beach Club Resort is very nice, and I believe opens at 5 pm... and the Neverland Club at the Polynesian opens at 4 pm. Drop the kids off there (they will feed them dinner), then go to MGM and ride. The lines are usually shorter that time of day, anyway.

We also have been known to take vacations to WDW without DD... that way we can get our thrill ride, PI and fancy restaurant fix. You know, a bit of adult fun!
