Mom...am I supposed to have shoes on?? - August 2013 ***FINISHED 5/5***

Yes now you have MORE reasons to go to WDW!!! pixiedust:

well i really want fantastic pictures of the castle and fireworks.. there are some AMAZING pictures out there already.. I of course want my own...

How early can you book the Dessert party?!? I cannot find too much information on this..

Okay, you need to find the thread on here that watches the Dessert Party. Just subscribe and then check it daily as it gets closer. There is no set date. Lets see....for the party in August, it was just after we got back from our MOA trip. So a little more than 2 months out. But like I said, it is different each time. The beginning of that thread usually has the past dates that it opened up. And I'm not sure what will happen to this whole process now with the magicbands and FP+.

I absolutely love the party, but I know people who got stuck way in the back and didn't enjoy it much. Just know, no matter where you are seated, everyone gets up to the railing when the show starts, and there is plenty of room at the railing. So just don't get all worked up about it. When you start to see people getting up there, that's your cue. Even if you have front row seats, you still have to get up at the railing to watch because if you don't, people will block your view.

What a fantastic update! Your PP pictures are so fabulous and magical. pixiedust: All three of you look just adorable, and so very happy! :goodvibes

Thanks. The first time I did PP, I wasn't too excited about it. I had more fun with Dani (when I didn't have a grumpy hubby who grumbled every time I stopped) and then this last time we got lots. No where near as many as D gets, but we got plenty.

So stinking jealous that you got to spend the day with D~ and the girls. We only go to spend a few minutes with them. We didn't really know each other all that well at the time. I CANNOT wait to someday see them in person again, because now we have such a history and such a special friendship!

It was fun. We didn't spend the WHOLE day with them. We didn't see them at all that morning, until lunch time. Then we separated again for their dinner, then again for our dinner :) But it was a great day! Allison and V are wonderful girls. They were so good with Bradey and just fun to be around. And of course we all love D

And YOU...and MO....oy, I need some dismeets with my favorite peeps!!!!!! :sad1: Someday... :hourglass

Ooooh...oooh, I know when!!! :stir:

We love Columbia Harbor House...so yummy! I just love Disney food! popcorn::

I know....it was a first for us, but it sure won't be the last. I just would get Bradey something different next time. He loves shrimp, so maybe the fried shrimp plate next time.

Catching up on your last couple updates.

Breakfast at Kona looks yummy - all that fruit YUM!

Lapu Lapu and nachos by the pool sounds like a total winner.

Nice afternoon and evening in the MK. You got some great PP groups shots. I had the same experience in October - a lot of the photographers did not know how to do the different magic shots.

The DP desserts look really yummy and I love the Anchor's Aweigh sandwich :thumbsup2

Thanks, yes Kona breakfast is amazing! Everyone seems to love the Tonga Toast, and I love bananas...but I just didn't love it. I could eat it if I had to, but the Macadamia pancakes are sooooo much better.

The nachos were super yummy, but the lapu lapus....not so much. Highly recommend those nachos though. :cloud9:

We did have a good day at MK. I think it was the only day we didn't park hop...it felt weird, but we had too much planned there that day.

I will do just that!!!

Still confusing... And will barrade you with questions.. so get ready!!!

Yay!!! Caught up again. Glad you had such a great day at MK. I too would like to know about the dessert party. I really want to do it, just have to see if it will be in the budget :thumbsup2

I will do just that!!!

Still confusing... And will barrade you with questions.. so get ready!!!

Ready...set...go! I am in the midst of planning my own quick trip this summer as well as a trip for two good friends (one in Dec'14 and one in Jan'15). So I am already in research mode...join the party girl!

Yay!!! Caught up again. Glad you had such a great day at MK. I too would like to know about the dessert party. I really want to do it, just have to see if it will be in the budget :thumbsup2

It was a great day. Of course every day at MK is a great day. I really don't love AK or HS...something just always seems to go wrong there and I just get tense even walking into those two parks. But when I get into MK or Epcot....my stress just goes off my shoulders and I always have a great time no matter what.

The dessert party is fun. Just make sure you watch that thread on here to know when to book it. The seats up front are so much better. Although in my new "Always a silver lining" way of living.....if you were at the back and it started to rain, you would be way ahead of the front row peeps :thumbsup2 It's not the end of the world. Same food, same fireworks. Really nothing to stress over. Like I said before, everyone gets up at the railing when the show starts anyways...so a back seat probably wouldn't be bad.

Still, you should book as soon as possible because it is VERY limited seating and sells out fast!

Thursday, August 22, 2013

Today was our sleep in day. We had an ADR at Kona for 9, but decided to cancel it and just not hurry. We got up late and strolled over to Captain Cooks for some muffins. Sara took a few pictures along the way.

Gosh, I'm gonna miss that view. Hopefully the bungalow suites they are putting in won't block too much.

The pool we never made it to all week. It was just too hot to stay out in the sun. And too crowded in the evenings. The quiet pool was much easier.

So, no pictures of the muffins, but I'm sure everyone knows what a muffin looks like. The Poly doesn't do anything spectacular with muffins, but they were alright. So we ate the quick breakfast then went back to the room to brush our teeth and deposit our mugs. Bradey and Sara had a little fun with his animals and left MouseKeeping a surprise.

Mousekeeping at the Poly has never done anything fun for us. No towel animals, no fun things with his animals, nothing. Even POFQ's Mousekeeping was pretty boring. I always get jealous when I read a TR where they get fun surprises from their MK. I tip well too....

Anyway. We walked over to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail a little before 11. When we got to the park it was just really really hot and I knew Bradey needed a hat. So we hopped over to Mousegears and bought him one. And I got one too. You'll see them both coming right up.

Coming out of Mousegears was the first time I noticed my leg start to hurt. I don't think I twisted it, but that's what it felt like. I had no choice, and I assumed it would come out of it, so we just kept going.

We headed right over to World Showcase and saw that Duffy would be coming out any minute and there was only one other person in line. So we hopped in line and waited.....and waited....

See, this is his hat:

Love that pic of him! And we waited some more. You know....this was one big pet peeve I had all trip. They post (a very short) time frame that the characters are out greeting, then they are never there. You always get a "Oh, he is eating some cookies" or "They had to check on Abu" and you wait a half hour for them to come back out. I am sure it is hot in those costumes, but when they only have an hour window, then spend a 1/2 hour taking a break....grrrr, it just rubs me the wrong way. Why can't you post that they will be there for a 1/2 hour instead??

Anyway...so finally Duffman comes back out and we wait our turn. A after 20 mins of Japanese girls taking pics....

I bought Bradey a Duffy when I went last year with Dani along with the book and he was just so excited to meet him!

And here's me with my new hat. Don't judge...it was HOT out there!

He was so soft! Sara didn't want to get a pic....she had no idea who Duffy was. So we continued on around WS. We took our time and hit every country this time. World Showcase was Sara's favorite part of the trip.

We had hit Mexico, Norway and China pretty well the other day, so we just skipped through them slightly to see if we missed anything. Then on to Germany. Bradey decided he wanted to color a flat Duffy and get him stamped. So that's what we did.

He had fun with this and I wish we had started him in Mexico because we missed a few countries for the stamps. Next time...

After Duffy drawing, it was about lunchtime and even though we didn't really want much, we needed something to give us a little pep. And since we were in the land of caramel.....

This was Sara's. Just a big 'ol block of soft chewy caramel with chocolate on top. Yum.

And mine...Can't really remember what it was. It was like a soft shortbread cake with lots of caramel on top and throughout.

And Bradey opted for a caramel drizzled brownie.

Gotta say...his was the best and I was very happy that he said he couldn't finish it. We all got a cold water and shared the free popcorn sample. It was a great little pick me up to continue around the world.

We walked slowly around because my leg was starting to bother me more and more. But we got his Duffy stamped in Italy then continued along to America where we each had a slush to cool down and Sara had a pretzel. I wanted to listen to the Voices of Liberty, but they wouldn't let us in with our slushes and by the time we would be finished with them, the show would be over. So we just kept going.

We got Bradey's Duffy stamped in Japan and wandered through the shops some. Sara loved this pavillion.

I knew the drum show was about to start so I told Sara to stay put while I ran to the bathroom with Bradey. Here are some shots she took while waiting...

Yep, we missed the show....I had trouble finding a bathroom then hobbling over to it. But oh well. Next time we need to see Voices of Liberty and the drum show. Here's Sara in front of the...what....Pagoda???

Onward we went around the world. Sara found some things she liked in the shop at Morocco, but none of them looked easy to transport back to Maine, so there they sit. She has already told me that she will go straight there and buy them when she gets down there for the college program next month.

And the famous fountain

This is where we were told we were too late for Aladdin and Jasmine. Even though their sign said from 2-3 and it was only 2:15. Grrrrr.....

So moving along to France, where Bradey and I needed a little snack. Sara had the pretzel in America, but we only had slushies. So I had the ham and cheese on baguette.

Very very hard and chewy. Did not like...

Bradey had a macaroon, which he loved.

We oohed and aaahhhed over the gorgeous stuff in the gift shop, but didn't buy anything. We saw Kathy and Mark of KatMark waiting in line to see Tigger in the UK. I knew we had a Crystal Palace meal coming up, so we didn't wait to meet him. We just got Duffy stamped then headed outside to play in the garden maze.

On to Canada..

This really is a beautiful pavillion. I still have not seen the video, but I love walking through the chasm. It is always much cooler down there and the little spray you get from the waterfall feels great on a hot day.

Okay, don't want to go over my photo allowance here, so I will continue this in the next post. Coming up.....a little Future World before meeting up with D and the girls for some resort hopping. Will we find eachother?? Or will they leave us stranded in the dust?? :rolleyes1

Suzi, sorry...I had no internet for a couple of days and fell behind. I was finally able to do responses on my TR and get an update done. I hated not having internet...really makes you wonder what we ever did without computers. :scared1:

I loved your updates. The pictures at the Poly are beautiful; we will be there next month for lunch so should get a first hand look at what is going on there.

The photopass pics in front of the MK are great, as are the pictures of the three of you looking at Tink in Bradey's hand.

I'm sorry D got sick at the dessert party.

Fun pictures at Epcot and Mark would be drooling if he were home right now over your snacks at the caramel shop.

It was so good running into you again...even if only briefly.

OH MY!!! the pictures are STUNNING!!! So crisp!!!

Duffy is Meg's BIG need to meet. may do that first to get it out of her system! :lmao:

ohhhhhhhhhhh the caramel looks DELISH!

As always you look adorable. I love your outfits.

Whew...just got all caught up!! Wow! You guys pop around a lot! I think I would keel over! Glad you liked Columbia Harbor House! I LOVED our meal there, yum! I was just contemplating with the hubs on visiting Capt Cooks on our next visit, and I think you have me sold! I also plan to try Ohana for breakfast next trip too. Oh and you got to do the dessert party!! Did you love it? Was it worth the money you paid? Thanks for mentioning that you should book early for best seat, I didn't know that! Can't wait to read more!!!

I'm all caught up again!

You have to see the video in Canada - it is great! I have to go make lunch, so I'll be back later.

OK, totally missed your update... Grr...

I don't remember exactly which park we were in this day, but every day was hot, so they all ran together.

I loved All of your pictures, and your hats are adorable.

Gah, I'd forgotten about your ankle... And the rest to come too... Darn busses!

Miss you all so much!

D~

I must have missed that Sara was going to the college program. I think the last I heard she was waiting to hear back so I wanted to say Congratulations to Sara. :cheer2:

And Bonus for you since you will have a another reason to visit.

I really like that picture of you guys in front of the railroad, it is quite hard to find that area without a crowd.

Love the little surprise that Sara and Bradey left for mousekeeping. :)

What a wonderful Epcot day! I love the pictures with Duffy. Those are some great shots. And the picture of that garden area that Sara took is beautiful. I would never guess that was in Epcot (and I have explored that area of the park often). There is just so much to see in Epcot.

I don't know how you made it around world showcase with a hurt ankle :worried:

Hey there Suzi. All caught up with your TR. You weren't the only one tat took a hiatus from the DIS. I've been missing since early December. I'm back now and trying to catch up. Thank to your break, yours wasn't terribly bad catching up. It looks like your trip was amazing, but August looks VERY VERY HOT!!! I'm afraid I wouldn't make it in the heat!

Oh please don't ever be sorry for falling behind Kathy.....just look at me! I am so horrible with juggling the job/family/home and still having time to DIS. I will never be upset if you miss an update. I love all you guys, but I really do this for me. I love re-living my trips and it is so neat to be able to look back at my TRs. Thank you for being here!

So is the Poly horrible right now??

I'm glad D and the girls got to see the dessert party. Now they know what it is all about and it gave us a little more time to visit. They have seen the fireworks many times and it was just the beginning of their vacation, so it was really no big deal for them to "eat & run". I am just glad she wasn't sick forever!

Oh the caramel shop will be a must do for us now. Yum!

Yes, it was fun to turn around in the UK and see a familiar face....or back as is were :)

OH MY!!! the pictures are STUNNING!!! So crisp!!!

Duffy is Meg's BIG need to meet. may do that first to get it out of her system! :lmao:

ohhhhhhhhhhh the caramel looks DELISH!

As always you look adorable. I love your outfits.

Thanks Mo. All those pictures are from either my phone or Sara's. Oh and PP of course.

Duffy was fun to meet. He is soooo soft!

Thanks, I love those outfits too. I know they are "cutesy" and all matchy matchy, but I can't help it. That is how I was raised. My mom is the mom who never gave an outfit as a gift unless she could find matching top/bottom/shoes & socks. Even underwear if she could swing it ::yes:: Those outfits are all from LLBean. In the summer heat, I need the moisture wicking and the skorts are great for me.

Whew...just got all caught up!! Wow! You guys pop around a lot! I think I would keel over! Glad you liked Columbia Harbor House! I LOVED our meal there, yum! LOL, we do pop around alot. I love to hop. It makes planning so much easier. I plan what park we will be at for rope drop every morning, but never the afternoons. We just go where we feel like it.

CHH was so good. It will be a must do from now on with us. So fresh and quiet and cool in there.

Oh you must try Capt Cooks. It is fabulous. And Kona is very very good for an easy to get ADR. I still haven't tried O'Hana....just doesn't really appeal to me, but I know many many people who love it.

The dessert party is totally worth it for us. I would gladly pay that price even if we didn't get desserts. Just to have an assigned seat for Wishes is enough for me. You hear people complaining because when the show starts you have to get up and go to the railing, but there is PLENTY of room along that railing. Still way way better than being squished on Main Street. And you have to be there an hour ahead on Main Street....at least with the dessert party, that hour is spent eating yummy desserts and getting amazing pictures of the color changing castle! I highly recommend it.

I'm all caught up again!

You have to see the video in Canada - it is great! I have to go make lunch, so I'll be back later.

Thanks...I think I will see all the videos this year. With Gram, we will be taking lots of breaks :)

D~

LOL....yeah darn buses....hahahaha. You left us on purpose...I know. It's okay. No hard feelings. It gave us a chance to see another resort. Oops...getting ahead of myself here. Thats the next update.

I must have missed that Sara was going to the college program. I think the last I heard she was waiting to hear back so I wanted to say Congratulations to Sara. :cheer2:

I don't know how you made it around world showcase with a hurt ankle :worried:

Yes, Sara is down there now in the college program. And yes, very glad it gives me an excuse to go again this summer!

My ankle pain was slow coming, so at this point it was just a little pain when I stepped down. It got worse....

August was hot, but it really isn't that bad if you take frequent breaks and keep hydrated. We just don't rush around like we do at other times. I could never go for the first time in the summer. Too much to see and do when you are a newbie. But our touring style makes it work in the heat. The biggest pain of the summer is the rain. Yes, we keep on going with ponchos, but it is a pain with wet feet and humidity in a poncho.

I am so sorry everyone. I have been horrible about this. But I did promise you I would finish this thing at some point. How about today?? We have a PTR to start!

So in the 3 months since my last post.....

Sara is officially in the college program. She started in Feb and she has mixed feelings about it. She loves being down there and she loves her roommates, but she hates the job they gave her. I am not sure I am allowed to tell, so I will just say it is retail. A big retail outside the parks. It has no air conditioning....and she has the last night shift. But she is sticking it out and I can't wait to see her in June!

So, to get back into it... We were on THURSDAY of our trip and we were in the World Showcase about ready to head out and hook up with D and the girls.

We walked back over to Future World and since my foot/ankle/calf was starting to hurt more and more, we decided to take a break at the jumping fountains that Bradey loves so much. I sat down on the benches there while Sara played with him.

See...there I am in the background...

He just has such a blast here. And it gave me time to relax.

This was my companion for the 10 mins we were there. I thought Oopsi would like him!

Our plan was to meet D, V & A at 6pm at the Epcot bus stops, so we still had about 1 1/2 hrs to kill. We rode Living with the Land once again, and also fit Ellen in there somehow.

We headed for the Piggy Bank Adventure in one of the Innoventions. I was sufficiently rested by then, so I joined them. This was fun. And Bradey loved it.

After we saved enough for our dream life, it was time to meet D.

If you can picture the bus stops at Epcot....there are the main stops all clustered together, then the values are all over further down past that little building. They were arriving by POFQ bus and we knew that stop was over in the other section, so we waited over that way. You cannot see one section from the other, so when their bus pulled up right behind an AoA bus....they didn't see us waiting, so assumed we were already on the bus. They hopped off and right back on the next bus. Only to find we weren't there!

Our texts were something like this:
"We are on the bus..." "Wait a minute....where are you??"
"Umm.....still at the bus stop...." "How did you get by us?"
"Grrr.....okay, we will be there when we can!"

LOL...it is funny now....at the time we were hot and tired and had waited so long for them! Oh well....just then a POP bus pulled up and I said...hey, those are really close together, lets hop on this one and walk over the bridge.

So in minutes we were pulling in here.

We walked through the lobby not really noticing anything. My ankle hurt so bad and Bradey was starting to complain about a blister. We just wanted to get to D and sit down for dinner. We walked by the POP pool....gotta admit, this place looks fun. If I ever go for an adult only girls trip I would like to stay there. I just wish the values had queen beds.

So we hightailed it....as fast as we could limp....over the bridge and met D, V and A on the other side. It had started to drizzle a little, so we all had ponchos on.

Continued.....

Soon we were walking by this

And this....look, it's Dory!!!!

Here's D & V....

And soon we were inside Landscape of Flavors. It was a neat room. I love the themes all together, but separate. And the options are endless. Of course we all wanted something from different windows. It took FOREVER! I mean, trying to get your meals to come out at the same time would really take some advance planning. The resort was amazing and honestly, this food court ordering is the ONLY reason keeping me from staying there. It was just horrible. We were about 45 mins waiting for everyone to get their meals.

Finally we all sat down in the.....Cars section?? Lion King??? Can't remember. Right were you walk in from the store on the left. Bradey had MYO pasta with alfredo

He liked it. He always likes alfredo. I tried it and it was creamy and good.

I had the caprese sandwich which was also very good.

And Sara had the cheesy pesto bread

It doesn't look like much, but it was big and filled her up plenty. It was all yummy. I don't seem to have the info on what D and her crew ate....but I know we all enjoyed it and just wished it hadn't taken so long to get our food.

After we ate, we walked out to see the lobby. It was a surprise when Kathy surprised us! She had missed D all week and this was her last chance, so while she and Mark were driving by, they had seen from FB posts that we were at AoA and they stopped in real quick to surprise D. It was great!

By this time, Bradey was really complaining about his blister, so I took his shoe off to take a look. WOW! I felt horrible. He had a huge, bad blister on the top of a few toes. It was raw and look really really painful. It was so bad, I sent Sara in to the shop to see how much a stroller would be. I gave her my wallet and told her if it was under $40 to just buy it. She came back and said they did have a Minnie Mouse umbrella stroller, but it was $55!!! Yikes. Nope, can't justify that.

But D to the rescue...she had band aids. And Sara bought some antibacterial stuff. With a bandaid, he was better. Not comfortable, but at least he could walk. Between him and I....we looked like a hobbling mess!

So after Kathy left, we headed out to take a look at the incredible theme of this resort. It was dusk, so with the lighting on, it was amazing. Here are a few f the pictures Sara took.

Okay, obviously she didn't take that one, but it was her camera because mine was dead.

I love this next one!

Hahaha....that lady is so much fun!

Notice it looks like Bradey has Mickey ears in this next one...

After the Cars section, D and the girls decided they had had enough and they headed out to go back to POFQ. Sara wanted to get a few pictures of the Lion King section, so we stayed just a little bit.
Getting darker....

It didn't take long and as we headed out, we were planning to go back to the Poly to bed. But it was only 8:30 and I hate to waste time sleeping in Disney. I asked Bradey how his blister felt and he seemed to be doing better. So we decided to hop the bus to HS instead. D was still waiting for her bus when we got on ours.

We arrived at HS at about 8:45. It closed at 10 this evening, so we knew we wouldn't do much. But it was pretty empty at this hour. It was nice walking around.

Last time we were here with Bradey, he was too little to do much. He still has never seen Star Wars and I didn't know how he would like it, but it was walk on, so we tried Star Tours.

HE LOVED IT! Like was addicted to it. He wanted to immediately go again and again. We rode it back to back 3 times and on that 3rd trip the "flight crew" recognized us. It was almost closing time and there were very few people there, so he told us to stand over on the side and wait a minute.

Hmmm....what could he be doing. Was this Pixie Dust????

Why yes it was! We got our own private flight! And at the exit, the awesome CM gave Bradey the above Frequent Flyer recognition certificate. He was so proud! Sorry for the bad picture, it got soaked when they left our luggage out in the pouring rain on the trip home. But you can still make it out. He was a happy camper!

After that, we had about 10 mins until they closed the park. I thought now would be a good time for Sara to ride RnR. She hopped in the single rider line and Bradey and I waited outside.

See how happy he still is....

It was late and we had had another AMAZING day. Time for bed! We hobbled out. The bus "home" was shared by all the deluxe MK resorts....so it took forever to come and was PACKED! It was about 11:30 before we were back at the Poly and in bed.

Final full day and Departure Day still to go. I will try to get these done this week. Thank you to all that have stuck around. Again....I apologize for disappearing so much lately. Just juggling a lot and finding it hard to get on the computer. I hope you are enjoying what little updates I get done!

OK replying from my tablet, so I have to do it from memory...

The girls have always loved those jumping fountains, no matter what their age... Even now.

Still feel awful that we left you stranded in Epcot... Especially with your ankle and Bradey's blisters.

Glad we were finally able to meet up.

Yah, the food court sucked, and a definite reason not to stay at aoa.

I can't remember what I ate there, but I think it was some sort of warm seafood sandwich I had to eat cold... Eeew.

It was so much fun exploring the cars section with you, one of our favorite memories from the trip.

Always happy to come to the rescue with band aids. Something I never carry at home.

That was super fun to meet Kathy and Mark.

I don't think I realized you got on your dhs bus before we got on our fq bus... I know we had to transfer via a park bus, clearly we chose the wrong park. Lol

Despite all the crappiness of this day, I look back on it fondly because we were all together... And I can't wait to see you again in 44 days!!!!

Love ya, mean it.

D~

Welcome back and congratulations to Sara for starting the college program. Glad she loves her roomies, but too bad she doesn't care for her job. No A/C must be awful.

Great pictures from AoA and Pop. I have stayed at Pop on a GF trip and solo and it is such a cute place. I would like to stay at AoA as well.

Your food from Landscapes of Flavor looks really yummy. Nice that you got a chance to eat there and tour the resort. We haves toured it once and even my DH said, and I quote, "they did a great job with this resort".

Great update!

Just found your TR. I'm only on page 10, but I wanted to say that I was enjoying it! I especially love reading TRs from the time I was there too! I was at WDW from Aug 18-28. :)

Yay! An update! Bummer about the blisters but looks like a great end to the day still!

I can't believe you had to wait so long for food at AoA!! When we stayed there we never had any problems with that! I'm thinking you had an unusually crowded night or something bc we ate there several times and the longest I had to wait was maybe 10-15 at the pasta station since that is customized to each person.
