Moleskin?? What is it??

It is used when you have a blister or sore spot. It is more effecitve than a bandaid.

I bought my package at Walmart. Just remember to stick the sticky side to your skin.

It's the fur that covers a mole, a small burrowing creature that is nearly blind because it lives underground....

Sorry - i just had too! ;)

It's like that soft, furry material that is on top of cornpads only it comes in a roll. You cut off what you need, peel off the backing and stick it to your heel, etc.

I learned about it on this boad and its been great.

BTW - they really DO make Girl Scout Cookies from real Girl Scouts.... :D

Ducking and running away very fast.

It's furry?????
Hey, how come the moleskin I bought at WDW last trip wasn't furry?
It worked really well, but somehow I feel jipped on the furry part.
HAHAHA just kidding ofcourse.

If you already HAVE a blister, cut out a little hole so that the sticky part does not cover the blister. After a day walking around the parks the moleskin is not always so easy to get off of tender skin... (OUCH!)
I have always used the thicker moleskin so cutting out the hole works good....

The best way I can describe is it reminds me of an extra thick piece of felt with a sticky backing. Dr. Scholl's makes the best kind of moleskin. They have two different kinds (I want to say moleskin padding and molefoam, but I'm not positive if those are the correct names). I really like the thicker of the two.

I put it on the areas of my foot where I'm prone to get blisters before leaving for the parks each morning--preventative medicine :D I also carry precut pieces of moleskin with me in case I get a blister or the moleskind I put on in the morning falls off.

Do not put the moleskin directly on a blister, though. It will hurt like h-e-double hockey stick when you try to get it off. If I want to cover a blister with moleskin, I put a band aid on first, and then cover the band aid with moleskin.

If I'm having a hard time getting the moleskin off my foot, I run my foot under water in the tub to loosen the glue.

Feenie: Thanks for the "hole in the mole" tip. I never thought of that and its brilliant! Especially with the thicker foam so that pad is slightly higher than the blister.

Note to self: Must break in new tennies before October.

Or you can put it on your shoes in the area they normally irritate you. I have a pair of leather flip flops and I lined the inside part with the moleskin and voila...no blisters!

WOW! now THAT is an idea!!! i almost threw out a pair of leather sandals i really liked b/c i got such bad blisters. thanks for saving my $40! :)

If you know any Boy Scouts, they should be able to demonstrate how to prepare a mole skin covering for a blister. Mole skin is wonderful if you know how to use it.

I can NEVER wear sandals if I'm walking a lot- no matter where I'm at, let alone all the walking at WDW! I get blisters in like 5 minutes- seriously! (And they are super soft nice expensive sandals too! Feel comfortable- but I get blisters easily I guess)
And I always seem to forget to break in new shoes before a vacation or situation where I'll be walking a lot.
I HAVE to make sure I bring moleskin next time! Maybe I can even wear sandals! LOL

Moleskin is wonderful! I did the Avon Breast Cancer 3 Day walk last spring (a long 60 miles) and moleskin saved my feet. It worked so well that I brought it with me on my next Disney trip and my feet felt so much better...it's amazing how 1 blister or sore spot on your foot can make you cranky but mole skin makes it all better:Pinkbounc

Moleskin is well worth it!!! Bring a couple of packs if you are prone to blisters (or your kids are)...It's money well spent.
