I started using it at 13. I just got my dd's 12 and 10 their first bottle, with SPF 25. We are fair skinned so it's just plain ol' prudent.

My friends think I'm in my 30's, I'm really in my 40's, so I guess my mom was right!

You are never to young to moisturize!

I'm 38 and have never used moisturizer in my life.... I don't see the point if you don't have a skin problem. If it's dry and itchy, okay, but why would someone with normal skin have to rub some sort of cream on it all the time?

I haven't found a moisturizer yet that doesn't turn my skin red. I, for one, am better off without.
Currently under my bathroom sink I have:
1) Vaseline total moisturizer
2) Eucerin intense moisture
3) Dermorest moisturizer
4) Bath and Body Works Grin and Bare it moisturizer
5) Bath and Body Works Overnight moisturizer
6) Petroluem jelly (actually works best of the lot.)
7) Bag Balm
8) Hoof Maker

Because it's good for your skin, if I have to put on SPF I might as well get something else out of it.:goodvibes It's not for "skin problems" it's to keep the skin moisturized and pliant, so less wrinkles form. If you get that natually, God Bless. :goodvibes

Have you tried Garnier? I've used it to great effect. Also, Aveena had one especially for red proned skin that I used for a while, it was nice too. It has chamomile to calm redness.:flower3:

I'm with you, Fred. :thumbsup2 I've used SPF moisturizer since I was a teen and age 49 my skin is beautiful, if I do say so myself.

I never had dry or problem skin, but my gramma from Norway swore by cod fish fat rubbed on her face every night to moisturize and help skin retain it's youthfulness as we grow older. She passed away of old age with the most lovely skin.

I don't use cod fat, but definitely a moisturizer with SPF because the sun is a woman's worst enemy for her face.

Try the Aveeno. It might help. I don't have any right now, so I don't know if it has alcohol in it. Unfortunately, many do. Which is drying. Crazy right?

I was really good about it in my 20's but kind of slacked off after having kids around my mid and late 30's. I've recently started taking better care of my skin again and it is really looking brighter and smoother.

I started my 8 yr old daughter and 10 year old son on a cleanser/moisturizer this week.

OMG! It's true. Mom was right again. It's startin' to be downright SCARY!

I didn't start using moisturizer until I was in my 30s... until that time, I always wore foundation with SPF though. But my skin was always so super-oily until I hit 30. Then it started drying out a bit, and now I use moisturizer during the day and night cream at night religiously to keep wrinkles at bay!

I may have tried Aveeno, I don't remember. I'll have to try again
Rumaged under the sink, four 2 other products that didn't work, Udderly Smooth and Jellied Baby Oil.

And that's not too early for both daughters AND sons. It'll become part of their daily hygiene and they'll thank you for it as they age. :thumbsup2

Moisturizers do help, I promise!!!

Make sure whatever you try is fragrance free. I have ultra sensitive skin with allergies to boot and HAVE to use fragrance free. There are only a few of them.

tvguy, it's a particular one, it's called "ultra calming", I hope it helps.

I don't use it everyday, I am very oily and any moisturizer breaks me out. My kids, no way. They don't need it at 12 or 13. They have enough issues keeping the oil under control. My mom used it every once in a while, she dies at 83 and looked 65. I don't think everyone has to use it, more importantly is staying out of the sun, and if you do go out, wear sunscreen. BTW, my makeup has spf in it.

I have used moisturizer every day since I was a teenager because I don't like having dry skin. Moisturizer can help make shallow surface wrinkles less noticeable, but it can't prevent deeper wrinkles. Those occur due to sun exposure, and loss of collagen, elasticity and muscle tone due to aging. I have a coworker who has great muscle tone at 61 and few wrinkles. I'm starting to experience a little sagging, which is causing wrinkles, even though my skin is moisturized. I wish moisturizer could solve all my problems.

Although it sounds like a paradox, moisturizer can help oily skin, too, which has always been my problem. If you keep your skin hydrated, it will produce less oil.

Also, while a plain moisturizer can't prevent wrinkles, I believe that certain treatments such as retinol and peptides, can. I'm 49 and my skin is very smooth with no wrinkles and I attribute it to the treatments I use. In fact, I used to have tiny lines under my eyes that are now completely gone. I strarted using a new skin treatment with peptides last summer and I really think that is the reason. I was actually considering laser resurfacing at one point and now there is absolutely no need.

Do you mind me asking what product line you use? I use neutrogena anti wrink with retinol for day and the one they make for nights. I have used them for a couple of years and they have made a difference. My sister's who are around the same age as you always comment on why my does skin look good. I try and tell them to use retinol and they just don't believe me. They buy some pricey products but not with retinol. Thanks in advance.
